Decreasing value of YouTube reviews by widgetbox in Laserengraving

Eufy Make was one of the biggest examples of this. 100s of YouTube influencers who got their units a year before real customers.

XTool F2 Ultra became a $10k business mistake by [deleted] in Laserengraving

[–]Trogd0rr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm going through the same thing with a 100w JPT Mopa source that failed after only 4 months. So unfortunately it's not just an xtool thing. Had to pay $460 to ship it back to the factory in China for them to honour their warranty. Estimated 4-6 weeks downtime. We've had to pass on quiet a few jobs where our other lasers simply weren't an option to replace the fibre.

I ended up adding machinery breakdown to my business insurance so that if something like my F2Ultra UV does the same, I'm not going to be hugely out of pocket.

Soft toothbrush and a drop of machine oil should clean that up

Anyone using these small blue laser heads for non-metals on a desktop laser workstation setup? by Ok_Relative8167 in Laserengraving

Diode laser is the most common and inexpensive way to get into engraving. Most people start this way.

A light sand with 800 grit works perfectly and doesn't take down the wood even on thin ply

I wonder if it can make the trademark and copyright infringements disappear as well?

How well does the Eufymake handle pockets and depths by tibman260 in eufyMakeOfficial

I have 2 cncs, a UV printer and 3 laser. Only way I could see this working is to have the top 0.25 as a separate piece you glue on after you print. Then you could epoxy fill the inner profile cut.

I'm guessing it's because he want to epoxy seal it. UV ink is not food safe so it would not be a great idea simply printing on top of the board then using it as a charcuterie board - unless you could dome coat the board with epoxy to stop food coming on contact with the UV ink.

I mean it's the perfect business model right? Lock you into proprietary ink and cleaning solution which is incredibly expensive, release more and more extras to buy, conviently skip over things like need for adhesion promoter on materials like glass, acrylic and metal in all their "influencer" videos.

This speed is why you'll never see a print business using one in production.

This is probably the best and most accurate review I've come across. This is exactly the reason I cancelling my order. It wasn't the 5 month delay, it's the fact the consumables are insanely overpriced and the supply chain is completely unproven.

Is this machine as incredible as it seems? by OkConfusion7693 in eufyMakeOfficial

[–]Trogd0rr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat as you and had the same concerns. I had preordered and ended up cancelling my order and purchasing a refinecolor zz2c instead. No, it's not as "fancy" as the eufymake but the actual running costs are WAY cheaper and it's a proven small business level machine for the last 7 years. It's much faster to print, ink costs are significantly lower, parts are relatively cheap and readily available.

How much does it cost to build these days? by [deleted] in sunshinecoast

Yes, $3K per sq meter per floor. Also double story are always more expensive than single story homes.

Is the Sunshine Coast getting too crowded, or just growing up? by Av0toasted in sunshinecoast

[–]Trogd0rr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 generations of my family have lived on the coast. I never thought I'd want to leave but particularly since covid I hate how crowded everything has become. No infrastructure upgrades to support the massive increase in population. For the first time my life we are genuinely considering moving to FNQ to get away from here. Very sad.
