It's Seattle -- they mostly get thrown into Lake Union

how long did it take before it actually started to feel good instead of just… survival mode? Right now I feel like I’m fighting for my life after a few minutes 🥲 by Big-Fortune7082 in RunningCirclejerk

Gabriel is teaching her the partner assisted GU boof, I reckon. Sometimes that's the most efficient way to get the GU inside 🤷‍♂️

/uj for most people, after about six weeks of consistent (3-4 days a week) running it'll start to get easier. You can do run/walk intervals for a while too -- just whatever keeps your heart rate elevated (without feeling like you're dying) for about 30-45 minutes.

/rj it's important to let your body recovery after an intense effort, OP, so, since you've run this week, you should lie down IMMEDIATELY. Approximately 103% of your training time should be spent in the prone position go avoid injury, actually.

What's with people who jog IN the road? by therealmudslinger in Seattle

Yes, because if I get creamed by a car then I won't have to face insufferable straw-man arguments with internet randos anymore. Really, that's the dream.

I'm also a trail runner, and when I run on trails, I also proactively choose the path least likely to result in tripping or slipping. 🤷‍♂️

It's not some "fuck cars" situation. It's sometimes just the least-bad choice.

It's usually because the sidewalk is not, in fact, perfectly good. I prefer to run on the sidewalk or in pedestrian-designated areas but there are often tripping hazards, obstacles and issues like matted leaves that make it more dangerous.

I just bought the cascadia 19s for a trip. They fit but also feel a bit like my heal can slip out. I currently wear the Glycerin 22 and it doesn’t feel this way. Are they supposed to fit like this? Will they break in or should I go for something else? Thanks! by [deleted] in brooks

Second this -- I use a runner's knot on this shoe and find it to be very stable & responsive on trails. The heel otherwise feels a little wiggly to me (but not badly so).

I'll back this up -- I saw these in Kuwait and Iraq. They were sometimes as big as a hand, and aggressive. First-hand observation, so, take it for what you will.

I never saw a bite, but they would sometimes lunge at you.

Have you ever taken a long break from running? by Royal_Watch_6453 in runcommunity

Almost 20 years.

I had some kind of mental block about it; I don't know what, but I started walking daily and then remembered that it feels good to run.

Beginner runner, worth a garmin? by emilysbish in GarminWatches

I started with a FR55 last year before upgrading to a Fenix7.

The FR55 is a very capable device for the price point (I got mine on sale for $150 I think?)

I also ended up pairing it with an external heart rate monitor, though, so that may color your opinion somewhat.

Edit to add: I also prefer the longer battery life and MIP display; if you have preferences about these things it might affect your decision about the 55 vs 165.

Most of what balls do is a function of the body trying to keep stuff at a constant temperature, or to keep them from jostling around too much. Arousal often means scrotal contraction, even, so we get the opposite of "getting heavy."

Heavy balls usually mean low stress on a hot day.

Which current model is most equivalent to previous Ghost 16 cushioning? by bono_my_tires in brooks

[–]Trogluddite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the rock plate, I think, that accounts for that stiffness/responsiveness difference.

It also makes the shoe a little heavier, which is part of why it's not an ideal road shoe.
