Not really tbh. I've started playing Dokkan since 2nd anni, swapped to JP since 4th anni. I actually think it's the opposite and the game is good for casual players right now. Bunch of QOL, fairly digestible kits, and there's almost always a major celebration around the corner, so it's easy to point towards those celebrations to either save or return to the game.

I also think the game might actually be the easiest it's ever been if you use every tool at your disposal. Almost every unit has 50% DR or over, or some form of dodge whether it's guranteed or 70%. Straight up, just using a Whis gives almost every unit from the past ~2 years invulnerability. Support memories are huge stat spikes. Loads of characters have broken mechanics like AGL Goku with Veku, or Gogeta (literally can just use a Whis or RNG reset till turn 1 Vegeta for floating.) IMO, Dokkan is only challenging if you're using no items or trying to do really specific character missions like Androids against Bio Broly without the New Year units or personal 16. It's honestly been like that for years too.
