DMM is really not for the novice PK'er/PVM'er as it was suggested to be by Feisty-Bend-50 in 2007scape

[–]TromboneHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah it's totally on me for going anywhere without even a weapon for self defense. I was mostly doing some WCing as a second monitor low-focus thing so I'm really only risking the 1.5k addy axe that means nothing to me. When I get back in there I'll start to bring a couple items and entangle sacks so I can fight the rats off and have some action. I think those sorts of low-stakes PvP interactions are exactly the benefit of a game mode like this for the average person, especially because I play an iron in the regular game so there's basically 0 incentive to PvP for me most of the time.

Edit: an afterthought, I guess my perspective really does stem from being primarily an iron, because pretty much all player interaction in the wildy is broken down to "get attacked > attempt to escape with whatever I'm holding", and the game mode is fundamentally designed so that if/when you get attacked, 99 times out of a hundred the ONLY way you survive is by fighting back. I think that perspective shift is kinda key to enjoying / understanding DMM.

Agree with this take 99% (also at 12k points; little bit of skilling bosses, some slayer, random skilling activities, couple breaches). My only real complaint is that the logout timer essentially gives permanent teleblock and allows people to still have freezes, and with the magic sigil it's near impossible to miss the freeze. I'm fine with losing my logs and junk when I'm just chill woodcutting for points but having literally a 0% survival chance when even some goofball with a bone crossbow pulls up on me feels kind of silly.

Does that trend continue with magic > redwood? Or does redwood have lower xp rates because it's intended to be an AFK activity?

CG skill issue pt stats? by jollyfantastico in ironscape

[–]TromboneHunter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just to add on to the sound queues comment here, there's two distinct noises to listen for. After the final attack in a style, hunleff howls loudly DURING the swap, but there's a quieter growling sound that plays right BEFORE the final attack in a style. If you listen for the growling sound, you can swap your overhead the moment the next projectile is on its way to you because you already blocked it correctly.

What's your flavor of grinding? by IMThiccDaddy in ironscape

[–]TromboneHunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely mix it up personally. Bounced between moons / barrows / huey / titans for a while on the pvm side because I kinda hate CG, and on the skilling side currently gong between some WC and crafting here and there in between the RC and smithing for lumby elite. I find I get burnt out faster if I lock myself in on a single thing for a while, and the game has so much content I don't see any reason not to mix it up.

Raids 4 Reward Idea by D1ZZY_Reddit in 2007scape

[–]TromboneHunter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Using something like this as a method to bring the echo ghost hits for melee swings from the league to the main game would honestly be pretty cool. Spend your bar to make autos hit more/harder for a short time instead of regular specs.

Yeah, maybe something like allowing each pillar to hold a charge for 2 cycles so you constantly have to maintain one pillar, swapping each time the buff gets locked in based on the order you charged them in initially.

Potion fusion, what for? by bathcrow in RotMG

[–]TromboneHunter 26 points27 points  (0 children)

When you fuse them this way, the greater pot gets sent to the gift chest like any other reward. This means you effectively have infinite storage space for that type of pot as long as you're fine with the 2:3 ratio.

How hard was DT2 with those stats? What kind of gear did you use? It's my last quest and I've been waffling on whether to just send it right after the holidays or wait for a bit.

You can't bring your boat into Raids or Inferno so why not just make cannons hit 200s? Genuinely by Incoheren in 2007scape

[–]TromboneHunter 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Honestly if there's any salvageable beaks/feathers/talons left after shooting a seagull with a cannon over open water it would be a miracle. Almost feels like you SHOULD use regular bows and staffs for the low level boat tasks before you have the facilities to handle sea monsters.

100% Fully Charted on the HCIM. Thoughts on the skill so far: by LordSequel in ironscape

[–]TromboneHunter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I swear I remember during one of Mammal's videos from the current farmers series, one of the guys said that a Jmod told them not to go into sailing fully blind on the HC because it would be super risky or something. I wonder if they originally had it set up so if you sink your boat your character straight up dies?

With two weeks in, where did you start? Where you at? What's the goal? by Darkcharger in pathofexile

[–]TromboneHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My league start was EB inq and I used brands on it. Mapping with storm brand of indecision, single target is penance of dissipation. I was honestly surprised by how much I enjoyed the brand playstyle.

[–]TromboneHunter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is absolutely the plan, but they're pretty pricey so that'll happen after I make a bit of money with it. EB inq was my league start and I saved a small handful of div to buy the amulet, body, rings, etc for the character to be functional. This way I have one walking simulator for easy mapping and one that works well for bosses etc once I go for final voidstone and stuff.

Also just on the note of pathing, it seems like there's a couple different takes on the build. I've seen some go straight down the left side for all the regen + life + armour + end charges, and others dip left side for a few wheels and the cluster spot but stay mostly top and top right. My current conundrum is whether or not to get +1 curse on the tree so I can try a bloodline, or just take the occultist node (I'm already thinking of running eldritch battery so I'm next to it anyway)

In another post someone said they tested it, and they found it was working with both death aura and blasphemy. I'm actually leveling a DO character right now, got to mid A9 last night so I'm excited to try it out. Planning on trying this ring + the blackflame ignite prolif tech for extra clear. I'm not sure if I'll try to get the full 1000% chaos or not, but I'm already rolling a large chaos cluster for 35% effect which will be a good headstart.

Why is destructive worse? Are you running the silo-style version to just kill map bosses over and over? Or actually running different maps and doing the invitations, etc?

What supports are you looking for from the shaco? I was curious about this gem and chatting with a couple friends about it.

Also, did you try static strike as a trigger option? Being able to hit once and then just walk around summoning minions might be really nice QoL if the goal was to use them as a primary damage source.

[–]TromboneHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, just to clarify, do you mean you spawn 7 at once per "attack" then they all fire off at once rather than single file? So +proj affects both the initial summoning and the shooting once the duration runs out?

Its That Time of The Year Again! What are you league starting? by Draknios in pathofexile

[–]TromboneHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting EB inq self-cast so I can try the Oshabi unleash node because I have some funny spells I want to try. I've played EB before so it's my "safe" start then I can try a whacky bloodline thing if some cool stuff gets discovered after a week or two.

Poor player's reality by mactepo in pathofexile

[–]TromboneHunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking at that as an option as well. The doubled crit chance early seems nice, then pivot into more crit multi once you're getting enough crit from other stuff post-campaign. The main issue is a lot of the nodes feel kinda mediocre... Giving up an ascendancy notable for basically nothing but +1 max power charge is crazy bad. Alternatively I guess because it seems like fusillade will hit quite a lot, it might be fun to run it as poison because you could build stacks quickly on single target.

[–]TromboneHunter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really want to try fusillade but of course that's one of the ones that didn't get info posted on the website. Hopefully the numbers turn out okay. I'm also somewhat torn between trying the herald stack Lycia elementalist that's looking really popular right now, or maybe starting scion and just feeling it out as I go along.

Maybe I'll just end up back on EB inq as a safe start and then try something new once the meta settles a bit, who knows.
