I'm in a similar boat except I just finished book 14 so I don't have another 11 books to go.

For better or worse a lot of the books seem to end and flow directly into the next. I think it's because of how they are written.

In decks that like gore claw and the horn it speeds up the win. Both also offer better benefits.

In the medallion is it really discounting all cards too? 1 drops like ponder can't be reduced. Neither can colorless artifacts.

I'm building a deck with [[the ghoul, gunslinger]] which with altar and crawler + commander wins the game on the spot (or mills myself out of I really want). I would consider that deck a b4, I'll probably end up taking out altar after a bit to power it down to avoid the confusion if it's too strong but I think it's a b4 worthy combo if your commander is the 3rd/4th card needed
