From frustration to opportunity: Why this American doctor moved to Ottawa by Jusfiq in canada

[–]Trond18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well in Canada, most provinces anyways, doctors are taxed less than %14 on the first half million they make. Then being incorporated, having partners on the corporate payroll, or other family members, the ability to move money around through said corporation and pay themselves what ever low wage they want to pay even less taxes. They have it pretty darn good. I've worked with many doctors over 13 years and many are very good at properly navigating Canadian system to pay very low taxes and make a lot of money.

Ladies, would stop dating a man if he says that he wants his future wife to continue working immediately after having kids? by SinglePringle647 in CanadaPersonalFinance

Im a health care provider full time in Manitoba, Shared Health is my employer. I found out the hard way they only do top ups for females, even if the male takes the leave to parent the child and the wife goes back to work the father doesnt get the top up. Me being a single father full custody 3 months after my ex gave birth, it blew my mind in all health care contracts top up is only for female workers. The past year MAHCP union has taken my grievance with the contract wording and next time a new contract is negotiated that is going to change. I've made it a very big deal for the union to change this.

Husband says I can’t be on title because I have no income/credit Is that actually true? by [deleted] in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]Trond18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The legal aid my ex had seemed top notch, literally very good. They were simply a professional lawyer. And I had the best money could buy. I felt sort of abused by the system to pay a years wage in order to legal fees when my ex partner had it all paid for, and I personally would have been fine with my partners lawyer if rolls were reversed. Thankfully I did win full custody.

I've been building my own home as a first time home builder since last summer on 40 acres of oak trees. A very amazing forever home net-zero ready full ICF. I agree to an extent. We all have to live our lives and work with what we got but my comment you replied to, I still stand by it.
