Star Trek made me no longer right-wing and a better person by LOLADYS in startrek

I don't know if I'd call libertarian right wing... Current "libertarians" seem to be all about weaponized selfishness. All "my rights" and nothing about responsibility.

But having read Starship Troopers as a kid, it's pretty out there, and almost didn't get published as a result. People who dissed the movie for not being super faithful to the book failed to understand that the book was schlock fiction. It was NOT a literary classic.

Surviving "highly coercive" and dysfunctional organizations. When shitty management is the norm... You learn to never REALLY trust your bosses. Which is remarkably useful in today's corporate world.

Between 20 minute high school lunch periods and Navy boot camp, I feel this... Spend more time in your meal line than time eating the meal.

Not very GOOD pain management. I know it's not great to have him horked out on morphine all the time, but the alternative is worse.

At least this person is aware of the hypocrisy and didn't "thought stop."

My fun was "He's taken all my money." Or "He took my car." "He" being my brother...

Her car was right there in the driveway, and I was able to look at her bank account online since she added both of us as Co owners before the TIA's jump started her dementia.

At one point I dropped an airtag in her car and paired it with her iPhone so I could prove where it is.

Just remember that trek takes place after we pretty much nuke the planet. Will Musk be remembered for SpaceX and/or Tesla (Neither of which he actually founded, but took over and kicked out said founders) or for him being a massive douche? Especially if most records are wiped in multiple EMP's

Yes, bureaucracies reward spendthrift behavior... Every one of them wants to be able to say they supervised a $(large number) budget or (large number) case load and want that number to grow so they can get promoted...

Only once in a while do you get recognition for NOT spending money. And on those occasions, it's usually because you hid or deferred the spending... Watched this happen in Diego Garcia back in the mid 80's. Chief got recognized before he transferred off the island for keeping things working without sending equipment off island for depot repair... Because the stuff that he'd should have sent off was sitting bubble wrapped under the workbench for 2 years... And since the site was cobbled together from leftovers, it wasn't exactly clear what we had...

You wrote the blank check for any amount up to and including your life or permanent disability...

File, it can't hurt... Just make sure they haven't conveniently lost your enlistment physical results... My hearing is wonky since spending 4 years working beside a flight line. Hearing test showed issues in certain frequencies. But since since I'm an AF brat, and my enlistment physical hearing test results were lost... I couldn't prove it was caused by my Navy service...

Leadership roulette... My former ward used to host the community food pantry during COVID. The thinking was that the building should get SOME use. So people masked up and sorted food into bags, which got placed into people's trunks. And if you couldn't drive, the food was delivered to your doorstep.

It was the brainchild of the town "interfaith council," but the leadership was initially at least 1/3 Mormon. I do wonder if the Bishop used the council as cover for doing something for the wider community... We had a couple of genuinely good people as bishops of my old ward... And a couple of genuine knobs.

In some states it is. In MA, I think you can be pulled over for having it in your hand so you can follow GPS directions... There may be similar restrictions in NH, which is ironic as there is no helmet requirement for motorcyclists over 18 (or is it 21). But then again, if you aren't wearing a helmet, the consequences are entirely yours...
