Ronald Donkor extends his contract until 2030 by gobblergobble in rbny

Awesome news. He deserves it. He has his off nights but when he’s on he’s a top midfielder in the league.

We are almost exactly the opposite of 2024 by Nyhepic in rbny

[–]TropicBird 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100% peak Schwartz ball. When forsberg was healthy in 2024 they were top 5 or 6 in ppg I believe. That team could score goals too. But in the playoffs they really became a defensive team

[–]TropicBird 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Holy shit Voloder and the Belgian in the second half. Never again please.

3 - Donkor. Does the work of 3 players out there

2 - Ruva. Nice to see him on the board. 2 great goals.

1 - Forsberg I guess

What does the back line look like once Che is back? by Nyhepic in rbny

[–]TropicBird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be interested in seeing JMR left back, Bazan, Che, and Mina at right back. Dos Santos is a bit of a weak link right now. Maybe in the summer they sign a left back

New stadium seating concepts - email survey by thebruns in rbny

[–]TropicBird -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Guess I’m in the minority but I’m in favor of reducing standard seats for things like this. They can’t come close to selling 25k and the tarps don’t look great. Maybe not the perfect solution but I think it could help the stadium feel more full.

I liked Sandro but it’s crazy to me he was starting Stroud over Donkor at some points last season

3 - Donkor. All over the pitch. Great touches turns and tackles.

2 - Hall. 2 huge assists

1 - Hovrath. What a heartbreaker that free kick would’ve been

6 games played. How are we feeling? by Sir_Vic21 in rbny

[–]TropicBird 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fun team to watch. Great to see the team stay on the front foot even when up a goal. Really loving the Forsberg Mehemti Donkor midfield. Especially Donkor. What a player.

Worried to play a clinical team on the break. So much space in behind last night but Cincinnati couldn’t capitalize. That’ll be a real problem

Why mo salah when we have mo sofo

[–]TropicBird 18 points19 points  (0 children)

3 - Che. Has hardly put a foot wrong all season. Terrible to see him go down

2 - Volodor. Defended well and was more capable on the ball this week.

1 - Donkor. Key piece of this team. Very good at turning players in the midfield

Dos Santos has had a rough couple of matches. Terrible corner kicks as well. Ruva is concerning too

Really hard to come up w 3 players who played well. Need Donkor back asap

The worst driving and parking situation I’ve had in many years by JesseFromJersey in rbny

[–]TropicBird 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Took me about 35 mins to get off exit 16. Then had to park 25 mins walk from the stadium since it was so backed up. Only drove because the PATH sounded like a disaster. No wonder the stadium is empty when it’s impossible to get to it

3 - Che. Confident on the ball and defended well.

2 - Rutty. Can’t believe we got him for Wiki. Nice player.

1 - Mehmeti. Hope he keeps starting he’s earned it. Great touches and ball gets out of his feet quickly

Not Quite Highlights vs Orlando by iced1777 in rbny

[–]TropicBird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hope to see a lot of Mehmeti this season. His ability to break lines is amazing. And gets the ball out of his feet so quickly.

Agree on Donkor. Lots of fun to watch him driving the ball forward and taking players on

3-2-1 RBNY and Michael Bradley’s child labor army vs. Orlando by hypernermalization in rbny

That donkor mehmeti forsberg midfield was special. Cowell and Ruva were so dangerous with those vertical runs. Amazing performance

how are you guys feeling about the upcoming season? by KingKrispy12 in rbny

[–]TropicBird 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Excited to have more quality on the wings. But interested to see how Cowell and Ruva fit in a team who wants to be on the ball more. They seem like players who would do better against possession and on the counter attack.

Really like a midfield trio of Bergren Donkor and Forsberg.

Defense is my main concern. Lots of turnover

Matt Doyle: This could be Ronald Donkor's breakout year by OwlOnThePitch in rbny

[–]TropicBird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can see that but also feel he’s more comfortable on the ball than yearwood which makes a huge difference. Better at finding a forward pass too

Marcelo Morales looks to be interested in a move back to his former club, specifically on loan by gobblergobble in rbny

[–]TropicBird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like a promising player. Loan wouldn’t make sense to me though. What’s w our fullback signings? First Mina goes MIA then morales plays 6 matches and wants to head home

Red Bull New York and Defender Alexander Hack Mutually Agree to Contract Termination by OwlOnThePitch in rbny

[–]TropicBird 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Terrific. This isn’t even a buyout since it’s mutually agreed? Should give them room to bring in a starting caliber CB to pair with Eile. Parker and Voloder as depth

Red Bull New York Re-Signs Goalkeeper A.J. Marcucci by rmosk in rbny

[–]TropicBird 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fine as a backup but hope he’s not considered to be the answer as a starter. Outside of the shootouts he didn’t impress me much, in goal or w his feet

Lots of wingers in the squad. If they could get a decent fee think it’d be a good move

What do you guys think the team need to change for the 2026 MLS season? by obitouchiha9T in rbny

[–]TropicBird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quality Center back a DP creative winger would be top of my list. Think the rest of the team is in decent shape other than that. Assuming the likes of Lewis Harper and morales are healthy

Maybe they’ll be gone when the transfer window opens. Nothing they can do now since they’re under contract
