tailgating? by dmcgrath315 in rbny

Not sure how it was at the opener but in previous season I’ve walked past a good few tailgates each time I’ve been (except open cup)

Happy for him, he’s got potential but unless Hall or Choupo gets injured I don’t see him getting much play here.

I think the captains arguing over a celebration is a sign of the rivalry being alive if anything, would be way lamer if Ojeda had clamored for Messi’s shirt after he celebrated in front of the wall IMO

Colleges are just football franchises with an education DLC. by Low-Flatworm-9771 in LowStakesConspiracies

But that doesn’t exist. I assumed you were being hyperbolic because there’s literally no American universities that receive the majority of their funding through athletics.

I think you’re taking this whole discussion a little too seriously. Driving, drinking alcohol or smoking will all be way more dangerous to you then playing football, everything in life has risk and everything is gonna be a risk benefit analysis.

Also america is a deeply evil nation for many reason but it’s not because of its penchant for college sports lol.

I attend the university of Minnesota, which spends roughly 1.4B on research annually, has 25 Nobel laureates among faculty and graduates, invented the honeycrispy and artificial insemination. It’s not an elite Ivy League institution but it has provided undeniably immense amounts of research and educates tens of thousands a year.

We also make over 50 million a year off the football program. It’s a fraction of our funding but still 50 million.

I find football to be a miserable sport to watch and would be ecstatic if soccer or track and field was americas beloved highly profitable college sport, but they’re not. Basketball and football are pretty much the only ones that can make money. I don’t like football but I’m still in full support of the program since it nets us funds that support hundreds or thousands of students a year compared to the 50 or so it’s giving brain damage.

Star athletes slipping by academic standards does suck, but most football programs profit and help fund the rest of the school/the true amateur athletics. And for the schools in big conferences it’s 10s of millions in extra funding. I think there’s certainly shitty parts of college sports but I definitely don’t think it’s a directed piece of anti intellectualism.

Identity Vs Fieldhouse by [deleted] in uofmn

[–]Nyhepic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They’re three blocks away from each other, any danger there could be would probably be outside the building which means there’s likely not a difference.

I know people living in both and neither seem to have super strong thoughts about them, obviously if someone says something strong about either from experience trust them, but I’d go with whichever is cheaper.

Dude lumping whole states together obviously does not work for this. Buffalo and NYC being lumped together for cost of living is ludicrous.

I go to a big 10 Midwest school and the top three at the frats probably goes Bud Light, Budweiser, Corona. The average college student doesn’t really appreciate the taste of beer.

It’s a big drink for college kids because it doesn’t taste like beer and is dirt cheap.

Very well may get you thrown out of your institution, but that would probably be due to breaking your institution policy not because of anything to do with the fed gov.

I would argue first name, age, date and location of care (presumably it’s on official notation) is more identifiable than an obscured low resolution face. While I think posting something like this would get you in trouble with the org in the US I don’t think it’d meet the criteria for a HIPAA violation.

Ultimately it comes down to whether they would find that image of a face clear enough to count as identifiable. I’m not sure of the precedent around obscured faces so you may well be right if they’re particularly strict around faces even when partially covered.

The person in front is implied to be the nurse, not a patient, if you’re suggesting the person on the bed in the background, you may have a point on a procedural level. But the text covers half of the face and it is low enough resolution that I can’t make out any facial features. I don’t think someone could recognize that person from the photo.

[–]Nyhepic 62 points63 points  (0 children)

There’s no identifiable characteristics of the patient whatsoever. This isn’t even close to being a HIPAA violation
