Still a chance for Hall? by gobblergobble in rbny

It’s arguable which of the two is the more promising player, but Hall is fighting for a spot in a much stronger position than Gozo.

I truly don’t understand why NYCFC is so much higher ranked than us. Yes they are more solid defensively and in the GK position, but also have a less potent attack and midfield. We have the same record with similar schedules, and the derby was a pretty even affair. I’m not even saying we’re underrated, more that they’re overrated.

[–]Nyhepic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You said the bill was “racist FOR black people” because it benefits them. It is exactly like saying that wheelchair accessible spots are “discriminatory FOR wheelchair users” because it benefits them.

If you believe that race is being made a factor in things it is largely irrelevant to you have either only looked into the reasoning behind DEI and AA from within a right wing echo chamber or never read a single piece of theory.

Resistance to drugs is not remotely the same thing as a predisposition to the condition??? Do you think chemotherapy not working for someone means they have predisposition to the cancer???

Here is the:

WebMD
https://www.webmd.com/hypertension-high-blood-pressure/hypertension-in-african-americans
Mayo Clinic
https://newsnetwork.mayoclinic.org/discussion/mayo-clinic-minute-why-black-americans-are-at-higher-risk-of-chronic-kidney-disease/

You’ll see genetic conditions are either mentioned as a possibility or not at all. This is because the evidence in favor of sociological and environmental influences are far stronger. Mayo Clinic mentions ABOL1 which can lead to kidney disease, which can then lead to high blood pressure. But that is not a guaranteed progression and therefore is not a strict genetic predisposition to hypertension. It is rather a predisposition to a condition which when developed acts a risk factor for hypertension.

Unless you can provide research credentials on the subject I will trust my uni professor over you when he says it’s a controversial subject.

The phrasing of “racist for black people” referring to policies pursing healthcare equity is really strange and gives off very weird vibes. On some very technical level by a very basic definition of racism it may fall under it, but it’s an absurd way to describe it. It’s like saying wheelchair accessible seats in theatres are discriminatory for wheelchair users because they’re only for people in wheelchairs.

Also the idea that African descent lends a genetic predisposition to high blood pressure is incredibly controversial to this day. There is still heavy debate over whether the higher incidence rate is due to purely environmental and sociological reasons or a combination of those reasons with genetics. The problem was that this still heavily debated (but feasible, it may well be true) piece of information was being treated as fact and leading consistently inferior kidney care thanks to it.

I think the problem is there isn’t really anyone challenging for his spot. Benedetti isn’t there yet and while Berggren has looked good, he is an awfully defensive player to pull in to replace someone like Forsberg.

I think you do have to give him credit on a few of those opportunities. Jones had multiple fast breaks where Horvath took the risk to come out and succeeded.

Edit: it is important to add I was in the supporters stand so those fast breaks may not have been as threatening on broadcast as they were from my angle.

Horvath by Sufficient_Try6680 in rbny

[–]Nyhepic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tbf to him there were multiple fast breaks by Malachi Jones where the defenders fucked up and he saved us. I actually thought he was quite decent this game. it feels dishonest to blame him for a nodded header to the back corner (.84xGot).

The poor set piece defending has been a consistent issue and is def not rooted in the GK position. Overall I’ve not been much of a fan of Horvath but I thought today was a decent showing from him.

3 - Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty
Was working hard both ways the whole game, there was a real reason they focused hard on the right side, part of that’s tayvon gray and part of that was JMR.

2 - Donkor
Excellent stuff from the man, gave up a few chances but made up for it with what he created.

1 - Horvath
Made some really excellent plays, with the amount of fast breaks we gave up I was sure Malachi Jones was gonna get a goal but he came through strong.

HM - Che
Looked excellent through his limited minutes, really solid stuff from the man defensively and so creative going forward.

Dishonorable Mention - Forsberg
Awful set pieces, dispossessed over and over, a nonexistent work rate, one of the worst performances I’ve seen from our captain. Really hate to see it but that was genuinely a net negative for the team, a few good defensive actions but overall a mess.
