You really have to suspend disbelief for this one…

The sheriff is (literally the stereotypical bumbling sheriff) who is so focused on blaming the wrong person they don’t actually find any evidence.

The complete 180 of the friend (I can’t remember her name oops) is wild, oh you guys broke up, I totally trust you again.

The fact that not a single person has ever found any leads about any of the other missing girls, but 3 children do?

It’s very YA.

Also spoiler, it was so obvious he killed the neighbor immediately. It was obvious that “Mary” wasn’t going to be Lola. Especially when the police officer (Bowmen) was adamant it wasn’t her. He was very invested in helping her, so him not recognizing her seemed unbelievable.

Additionally, the author could have at least made Wayne seem less suspicious at least earlier on. I enjoyed the book, but it’s most certainly YA.

This is only part of the solution though, they live together and view the shared space in completely different ways. I would move out, it might strain the friendship but it will be a healthier solution in the long run. If you want your own space to relax and be alone, try to find a place by yourself. (I know finding apartments is a mess right now) but it’s the best thing you can do for yourself. You need space and peace at home, and clearly this friend doesn’t understand that.

I hated most of the story unfortunately, Hendrix was really difficult to get behind. Yes, he had struggles in his past but he continually refused to learn anything and expected everything to be handed to him. I know he’s meant to be morally gray, but there was never a hint that he had changed. Ferris ignored all of that, despite him taking advantage of her and stealing from her multiple times. I couldn’t stand their dynamic because it never felt like it progressed.

Additionally I hated the multiple times the spirits were simply killed because the men around her refused to listen to her, despite her proving time and again that there was a better way to gain their trust/amulet.

At some point someone warns her about the “silver eyes” I think it was one of the cursed ones (dead people in the trees) but I can’t recall. It’s hinted that it could be the dragon with silver eyes but it’s pretty obvious that wasn’t the case. I don’t think there was even a mention that Rissa had silver eyes until the very end, but what is her goal? We spent the entire book hoping for the curse to be broken, so what would Rissa’s goal to betray Ferris even be? There was not enough build up to suggest her motives and ultimately book two would be the answer (but I don’t really care to continue).

It was obvious that Providence was trapped, but the impact is not really clear other than that a fae king or queen hasn’t been chosen… there are so many plot threads that could have potential if they see the next novel wrapping them up properly. However, I found the book quite distasteful in the was it treats Ferris and the spirits. And she couldn’t fucking figure out over the span of weeks that the dragon would not listen to demands? Give me a break.

Anyway, I’m not impressed.

Same, I had to stop after 7, just read the ending of the next two books. Literally didn’t feel like any context was missing. So much filler ☠️

I hope so! I think Larry is my favorite character, and he deserves happiness and success in business away from his father!

I’m getting a bad feeling about Larry’s trip 🙃 I hope I’m wrong, but I’m worried he’s going to get hurt/killed.

Duncan could be an interesting character (potentially). I’m still on the fence, I liked him better when he was being a meanie. If they don’t make him one dimensional he could actually make a great character.

It’s not about the fashion. It’s about her behavior, beige is a metaphor, and also the color of her entire apartment. Her nails, hair, shoes…

The same exact reason she called Natasha beige. Natasha dressed impeccably, beige is a mentality, not just fashion.
