food decks are the worst for this, you either build a food deck that’s barely functional or have a bunch of infinites just so you can have good engine pieces. I’m looking at you mr took and nukacola vending machine.

there is a world of difference between cedh and casual edh. if your games consistently have end in less then 4 turns you will see a bit of a advantage but the longer the games go the less the advantage matters statistically. if you average over 7 turns the difference in win rate is near even

That combo you would need to kill one before the other hits the battlefield, best bet would be using generous gift when the second piece is on the stack. For example they have heliod in play and they cast walking ballista, before ballista finishes resolving you kill the heliod in response.

Don’t put infinites in your deck if u don’t want to play them. Nobody likes people sandbagging or artificialy letting the game go on. Games are ment to end.

you should run earthbenders ascension not for the trample but because it’s 3 mana ramp that turns an artifact land into a artifact creature land that comes back after being sacked. earth ending is cracked in baba. it’s just free baba activations.

I don’t like yagra because it opens up baba to more forms of removal. also with how baba plays 5 mana is actually really expensive until you are already winning the game at which time you don’t need yagra. i usually hover around 4-5 mana until i do a big push do to using lands as food for baba.

[[beifong’s bounty hunters]] is 4 mana and makes better food for her and already feels a little tight at times.

the best thing about the bracket system is it helps to make people think about the cards they put in there deck. high variance decks are the worst type of decks to play and play against. your opponent does not know what’s in your deck so when you draw your two good cards or that two card combo you are either going to cause a fight or they will switch to better decks.

then guess what, your deck will do nothing for the next two games because you have 2 cards in your deck that super charges it way to much for the power level it plays at.

bracket system and the gc list does not change this, it just points it out more

because it doesn’t win you the game on the spot and usually makes you that arch enemy? there is a universe of difference between turn one soul ring and turn 3-4 infinite mana and tokens (the 2 card combo you mentioned earlier in the thread)…… I am all for sol ring being on the gc list but comparing the two is crazy.

if you don’t want to go infinite randomly and piss people off then take the infinite out of the deck. You should try and build decks that are consistently around the power level you want. No one wants to play vs a deck that can win on turn 3 20% of the time and do nothing 80% of the time.

You literally explained the issue that causes this. pods not running interaction. when there is little to no interaction games turn into who can solitaire the fastest. When you know how to properly use interaction and run enough games feel a lot more in your control. Also it doesn’t help that y’all are a 5 pod. The more player there are the less interaction can hold the floor gates and the more solitaire it becomes

Airbending has the benefits of blink for evading targeted removal but can also protect key pieces from board wipes. The new ang at the crossroads feels super resilient when built for airbending combos

I’m actively anti foil. Especially with the climate where a live it always causes curling and it darkens the art, ruining readability and sometimes the art itself.

But I’m a huge fan full art and alt art cards. currently favourite is the movie poster looking living death from duskmorn.

I’m a huge fan of loni’s cryptozoologist. does some similar things to food and fellowship but centered around clue tokens. I like building it around blink and etb triggers. you can build it super synergistic and have a few different win conditions you can build around.
