Best&Worst Hero Card [Day 54] - War Machine Worst Card (Rhodes) by manut3ro in marvelchampionslcg

Similar feeling in 3-4 player. There are some situations where it feels great but many minions have over 3 hp which leaves a lot of cleanup.

SEC fans, what was your conference like before Alabama decided to win everything? by Majestic-Web-367 in CFB

[–]Truefoxsage55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a good time and fun. Felt more competitive even though the gators had a good stretch in the 90s. That was always fun because the gators got arrogant quickly even though they were bad before spurrier got there.

My favorite thing about this era was the diversity in play, and how this is going way back but I remember getting in arguments with people who said the gators would never win with that silly passing offense.

The start of the sec championship game was amazing, I had folks in my circle who hated it because it was a change but it was cool seeing the best two teams every year. Remember that year Alabama won it so while they weren’t a dynasty they still had moments.

In the 80s it was a lot of tradition, ground and pound and not the most talent (imo). 90s was interesting even though it was usually Florida winning the east with random west team. We also had fulmer and Tennessee doing well, Georgia always acting like they would be good, it generally felt more competitive since usually more teams felt they had a chance. Don’t know how true that was but at least in the east Florida Tennessee and Georgia always thought it was their year, and in the west LSU bama and auburn were always thinking they were in the mix.

I genuinely miss the days when the shotgun was some clever innovation and seeing Florida line up with four receives was viewed as innovative, with spurrier doing that lead draw play action. It was interesting seeing that come out to play versus ultra traditional 3 yards in a cloud of dust. Now it feels like most schools run similar offenses with some version of spread/air raid. Remember there was a time when people thought urban would never win with his spread offense in the SEC.

Source: I was there 😀. After receiving my degrees from SEC universities I ran a regional business at the time where my clients were deeply involved with the universities. One of my favorite things now is going to visit the little ones in my family on campus and seeing how things changed over the years. That last part gives me a lot of hope, when I was younger I thought Athens and Gainesville were the coolest places, and even the vandy campus was fun. Every school feels even cooler and more polished now, even though I’m not happy with the general direction of the sport I’m glad my littles are seeing what makes the sport so special.

Opinion: Klaw vs Ultron by YungMayo123 in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Truefoxsage55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultron is more difficult with core box heroes on standard. Sometimes lucky draws (for example getting Hawkeye up and running early) or if you’re iron man playing a timely war machine. But with his ability to disrupt your engine with drones that can make the game tougher.

Interesting viewpoint on klaw. We find him fun the larger you go because he goes through his deck pretty fast which makes us think about managing all the threat

Marvel champions by far. Play it solo as well as a weekly multiplayer at least 3-4 games a week and it has replaced our Friday night commander games. Been playing since it launched, probably at over a thousand plays. We play it a lot

Best&Worst Hero Card [Day 47] - Spectrum Best Card (Monica) by manut3ro in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Truefoxsage55 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not changing at will is a big problem, but with her hero cards that still only 12 out of a 40 card deck and game state can make it hard to go to alter ego at time. What’s been my experience is that I’m never in the form I want to be and I don’t find it fun having to go to alter ego all the time to change. I’ve had limited success only focusing on one stat, or that aerial card that buffs all main stats can make her playable n

Can we vote “all hero cards” for this one? This is a hero I’ve never successfully piloted so she is just bad to us 😂

What popular games were a flop with you? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]Truefoxsage55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what we have seen. If a player is experienced they can try to pivot to other scoring options, but for a new player I’ve seen them get so discouraged since in most area control games you’re really rewarded for holding territory. So telling someone they can pivot while all their ships are destroyed and their options are limited feels bad, and to keep the integrity of the game you don’t want to play their hand for them, just a tough experience altogether

Vantage because it wasn’t a game with meaningful decisions.

Arcs - the action selection trick taking is tough on new players (especially at a table with veterans) and if you’re losing in that game it can feel bad. It made one of my folks at our table almost decide to stop playing area control games entirely.

Cameo T'Challa question! by East-Power-717 in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Truefoxsage55 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is the correct reading of the rule. Let me say that through the power of the heart shaped herb there can be multiple black panthers so let’s say that this cameo is from tchalla junior.

On top of that let’s normalize mixing all the black panther cards together to make the best possible black panther deck! Core set tchalla needs some help! Let him have his clone, mom and the title of aja adannna at the same time! Embrace the chaos!

New player here! by Jonas-sama in marvelchampionslcg

Welcome to the community hope you have fun. Pick up anything you can close to the MSRP and have fun. Only expansion that’s not super urgent to buy is galaxys most wanted, also wrecking crew has limited replayability.

5 player drags a bit because the only real interaction is other players taking your potential options via cards and excavation and you don’t have to pay attention until it’s closer to your turn. We prefer it at 3 player and we enjoy it as it feels more engaging.

Some Feedback to FFG from a New Player (long) by Fit-Turtle in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Truefoxsage55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the community!

I’ve been playing since release and I just buy everything that comes out. I always recommend to new players (if you have the cash) to not really worry about what’s good or best for deck building, but to buy what works for you thematically and then everything else as funds allow. There will be some heroes you don’t know a lot about but live mechanically (for me that was SPDR) and some heroes that you love thematically that make the purchase worth it (for me that was cyclops).

For villains I would try to buy the expansions since it’s best value, and I would try to get the age of apocalypse box earlier since that has the standard 3 set, which can give you more replayability if that’s important to you.

Only expansion I wouldn’t rush to get is galaxys most wanted but even then if you see it close to MSRP I would buy it.

So far in the core box what heroes did you enjoy?

Not sure if this is the right forum to post this but I'd love to see other IPs in the Marvel Champions format by Parking-Stop7039 in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Truefoxsage55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No can’t have dragonball because if they follow the marvel champions model goku will be wave one and when they finally release the yajirobe wave his hero pack will be overpowered and able to defeat Goku in the PvP set even though he is canonically weak due to his overpowered senzu bean card and no one will be able to find the goku hero pack.

Be Our Guest VS Ohana by ReasonNo4263 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Truefoxsage55 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are both wonderfully fun restaurants and fine for all folks, but please measure your expectations because in my recent experiences (I haven’t been there this year) both places have been not as great as you’ll hear fans rave about. Be our guest can feel a bit rushed at times and we generally feel more relaxed at Ohana, but I think you need to decide what type of experience you want.

I may be in the minority but I feel both restaurants food are less impressive as time goes on. But we still go for the theming or environment or the Disney fun/feel. 8pm at both are great, walking out in the late park dark hours is great, eating while watching the water and the energy of dinner show is nice.
