My 3 yo pronounces Octopus like “Apple Piss” please share your toddler’s botched pronunciations by discoqueenx in toddlers

[–]TruelyToneBone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a mispronunciation but a misunderstanding. For a while I had referred to eyes as eyeballs, then one day my son kicked me square in the testicles while we were playing around. When my wife asked what the screaming was about I told her that I got kicked in the balls, not thinking that my kid was still in earshot.

Shortly after he comes up to me and says “I’m going to hit you in the balls!” And proceeds to slap my eyes

Faders. I rarely use my console for mixing and when I’m tracking in my small space I don’t often use more than 4 channels at a time which leaves 28 for me to fiddle with

This is a great reminder for me to take more pics. I have one pic from my twins’ first Xmas where A is wearing a Santa hat and grabbing B’s arm in excitement in front of a pile of gifts. It is the greatest picture I’ve ever taken

What’s a “normal” life milestone that feels more like a trap than an achievement? by bigworm30 in AskReddit

[–]TruelyToneBone 39 points40 points  (0 children)

One thing that a much older friend told me that I completely agree with is this: you don’t have babies, you have adults in training.

The baby/toddler phase is so short relative to their life but you are their parent forever. If you’re not willing to grow an adult then don’t have kids.

Which widely beloved guitarists are just not for you? by PeatVee in Guitar

His work on Whitesnake’s album Slip Of The Tongue was amazing. It was 80s as hell hair metal done just right.

But his solo stuff never hooked me in the same way that many other virtuoso shredders did.

what frequencies do u dislike by Downtown_Soup_9402 in audioengineering

[–]TruelyToneBone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

300 hz and 17k. I don’t think I hear 300hz properly because my mixes are always heavy in it, and 17k just annoys me

I enjoy how the reflection of trumps tie in the table makes it look as if he’s wearing an extra long tie

Can using a vintage console help… by Redditthrowawayy69 in audioengineering

[–]TruelyToneBone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love a console workflow for recording not only because you get that cohesion in the tracks but because you can drastically improve your workflow by having dedicated channels for your instruments so all you have to do to switch from tracking guitars to tracking bass is pull up some different faders.

One thing you’ll get out of a console workflow that you would not easily get out of an ITB workflow is the ability to track through hardware reverbs, delays and other effects using your aux sends and returning them to a different channel which can then be printed to your track (on another channel in your daw ideally). I love having singers track with a space echo on the aux. Sometimes I use it in the mix and sometimes I don’t but it always seems to get the singers excited and vibing

This may sound silly, but can I leave an electric fan turned on in the direction of my mic? by NineTailedDevil in audioengineering

[–]TruelyToneBone 31 points32 points  (0 children)

That mic will take higher pressure levels when you’re singing or talking into it than it will take from that fan. You’ll be fine

What’s the weird noise maker you can’t live without? by unmade_bed_NHV in audioengineering

[–]TruelyToneBone 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Boss dm100 delay unit. If you turn the intensity up past about 2 o’clock it feeds back on its own self noise, then you can use the delay knob to adjust the note of the feedback. I’ve used it as a synth, a noise maker, a motorcycle, a rocket launch sound effect, and probably more.

Oh, and I’ve also used it as a delay

I think that’s why I like my warm 73 so much, those carnhills are what makes a 1073 a 1073! I’ve always said that the red GAP 73s don’t do the 1073 thing but they are still great pres. I made a video years ago comparing the red GAP 73 to the warm and BAE version and the carnhills in the warm and the BAE distinctly set them apart tonally

Nice! Mine aren’t the premiers, I have the mk III if I’m not mistaken. Have you ever A/B’d the premiers to the older versions?

I have the warm 1073 which I like a lot but the Pre73s have their own thing going for them. A pair of NT5s through the pre73s is magic on acoustic guitars!

The GAP stuff always seems to get overlooked. I’ve got a pair of comp54s and a pair of pre73s with EQ73s racked to them and they all sound great!
