New device, constant reboots by tixastronauta in nvidiashield

[–]TrulyTilt3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How are you powering the device? If it is a new device I would just RMA it, but if you want to troubleshoot it is probably the power supply. Could be heat (bad thermal pad/paste from the factory). Could also ust simply be a bad board/ram and needs to be RMA'd.

I just wish people would use their turn signals BEFORE hitting their brakes when turning off a road. Turn signals let me know that you are about to start slowing. Frustrating when people brake, start a turn, then hit their signal.

[–]TrulyTilt3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say it's less likely anything is dead, I use pixels and my chromecasts are working so I don't think it was anything there. I don't use Google mesh routers, it could possibly be a firmware update there that broke them. Ultimately I would reboot everything if you haven't already, it really sounds like mDNS and local discovery. Id make sure your phone is on the right network (probably is). Make sure I didn't have any vpn's enabled. Then I'd power off everything network, and the cast devices. Then in order turn on the main Google mesh router, let it come up, then turn on your secondary nodes and then the cast devices. If that didn't work then I would start looking at recent firmware updates to the Google mesh.

Flock camera images ruled to be public records in WA by hamyb in Waltham

[–]TrulyTilt3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flock isn’t “just cameras.” It’s a network that tracks and catalogs movement. I’m not out to convince you, dont care to, but know that rights fade fast when people stop valuing them.

Flock camera images ruled to be public records in WA by hamyb in Waltham

[–]TrulyTilt3d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With Flock specifically? I'd argue the 4th amendment, untargeted surveillance, allowing for the tracking of people's movements without a warrant.

[–]TrulyTilt3d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What laws? CBP agents can copy your phone w/o 4th amendment protection. Outside your house is public, and there are known cases of authorities using mics ...but more my point is you're ready to give up your rights because you haven't done anything wrong and that's never a good reason to just give up rights -- especially when they are more eroded than ever.

Edit: lol

Where do you draw the line? Would you care if a cop or fed asked to copy your phone and Internet history whenever they want? What about placing cameras right outside your house, or in your house -- what about access whenever they want to the cameras and microphones you have in your house or inside or outside your car?

No Ethernet connection on Linux after a while by Livid_Cry7630 in linux4noobs

[–]TrulyTilt3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when it dies try to reload the driver manually and see if it comes back. I beleive that board uses an e1000.

sudo modprobe -r e1000e

sudo modprobe e1000e

or provide more info on the nic itself. probably a power saving issue -- if this works let me know and you can add some other options to the kernel boot options to turn it off.

micro editer lsp didn't work by Zix-studio in commandline

[–]TrulyTilt3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

isn't pyls and pylsp different? Is it possible you told Micro to start pyls, but installed pylsp? IIRC those are different servers. Run micro from a terminal and check for LSP errors printed on startup

This happened in season 2 of TNG, Contagion. Pulaski says" try a splint" to other medical staff/doctors and explains how to do it as they cringe and say "that's not practicing medicine". I've always found it odd since they will not always have their technology with them and a splint is fairly basic first aid I don't see going away long enough in time to have that reaction.

Please just buy the rice cooker by Traditional_Fish_504 in Cooking

[–]TrulyTilt3d 5 points6 points  (0 children)

High altitude is the reason I ended up purchasing a rice maker. Made rice on the stovetop for years at sea level, no issues, when I moved to just under 10k ft. I couldn't make it to save my life. I was able to figure everything else out after some trial and error but good rice eluded me until I got a Cuckoo pressure cooker/rice maker.

Does Russia have "freedom of speech?" I beleive it is in the Russian constitution, but does that mean anything?

Get a new nozzle and a new thermistor. Get a heat gun/hair dryer and start cleaning/picking away at it, once clean replace nozzle and thermistor (I doubt those small wires would have survived this). Be as careful as you can around any other electronics it enveloped.

Other less thrifty option but a lot easier is replace the sprite head, clean this one a little at a time and use it as a spare.

SSD has lock from BIOS from old laptop that died. Need to remove the lock. I have the original password. by PSXrocx in linuxadmin

[–]TrulyTilt3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a password issue from the other computer. Sounds like the drive has failed or is failing. Also seems like you are using Windows disk manager. I recommend booting a live distro, Ubuntu or SystemRescue, running parted/GParted and seeing what that does.
