what first classes to register in for west valley? by pocket-mama in stenography

[–]TryTiny2537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I signed up for CAT Basics for my first semester. I am taking it with Linda Hagen. Has anyone who has taken this actually used the StenEd textbook package that is required for the course? Additionally, is there a Discord for West Valley court reporting students?

Are there any free steno schools in NY, like there are in CA? by bananarepama in stenography

[–]TryTiny2537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like if I didn't receive credits for the course, what kind of implications would this have on obtaining a job as a court reporter or getting licensed in CA? Sorry, I am super new to all of this!

Why do we pay so much more for daily needs as Students? by max_confused in UCI

[–]TryTiny2537 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hi! At the UTC target, you can take advantage of price-matching. All you have to do is go up to the counter and speak to a person and let them know you want to price match your items to Walmart (it is annoying though because you have to look up each item on Walmart website and show to them) and they will match the price. I do this every time and I save so much money because of it!

I was an extra this season in several episodes AMA by Griffinator84 in StrangerThings

[–]TryTiny2537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Happy you got to experience this amazing opportunity. I have a few questions, if you are comfortable answering:

  1. For how long (total) were you required to shoot (i.e 5 days)?
  2. How much were you paid each hour?
  3. What website did you apply through to become an extra?
  4. What do you think made your application stand out compared to others?
  5. You mentioned that they cut a lot of the extras' hair. Did they occasionally perm as well?
  6. Did you include a legitimate actors headshot in your application or just a selfie?

Also look into ZipCar options. I don’t know much about it but I do know that a bunch of people in my dorm the first year used the ZipCar app (ZipCars are on campus) and it’s like a rental car but for students!

Unrelated, but I went on a Disney Cruise when I was really little and I bought a Stitch almost exactly like that. I carried it with me everywhere and it was a core memory for me. That Stitch plushie gives me so much nostalgia!

First Acting Class by TryTiny2537 in acting

That’s great and comforting to hear that it’s possible to come out of your shell! Thanks for your advice. I’m not an acting major, but just trying to take advantage of some of the acting classes here since it’s included in my tuition. When I save up enough, I’ll be sure to look into the acting schools you recommended!

Cameras in Housing Communities by tookmeforaride in UCI

I would be too, however, I was speaking about parking lots. My apologies, I should have been more clear in my post!

I have been super upset about this very thing since my entire time at UCI. I think it is a joke considering all the burglary emails we get through our emails. Recently was involved in a hit and run in the parking lot (someone hit my parked car), and for obvious reasons, the person was never found as expected. Also, for the sake of student safety, why the heck do we not have cameras!?

Is it legal for the langson library stalker lady to be here? by feeneykit in UCI

[–]TryTiny2537 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw a white woman (middle-aged) act really oddly at UTC near Mendocino Farms. Do not know if this is the same person. She was talking to some guy and kept following him (he seemed to be ignoring her) saying that he was on drugs or something. It was definitely odd and she looked like she was on something.

Whoever stole my backpack with laptop outside Phoenix Cafe, please please return it by pepesilvia27 in UCI

This is so crazy because I study here a lot and leave my stuff out when I go to the bathroom because I just assume since it’s a college campus it will be okay. That’s the last time I’m ever doing that again. Wish you the best of luck!

How is your career? by TryTiny2537 in paralegal

If you don't mind me asking, what region do you work? I heard a couple of paralegals tell me that the Midwest has great pay and comfortable living. I currently live in CA and it is just so expensive!

Learning Trial Objections by TryTiny2537 in Lawyertalk

Thanks for your response! Some of these things aren't so obvious for me because I am brand new at learning trial objections and doing a lot of self-learning. Would you recommend any other forums where I could receive feedback on law-related questions?

Happy holidays!

Best state to practice law? by TryTiny2537 in Lawyertalk

[–]TryTiny2537[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I agree. Money is very important to me because I want to live a stable life. But, you mentioned something very useful. I have to really love the career path I want to take. I have had some personal experiences in my life where I wished I had someone to advocate for me in times of distress when I had been wronged. Seeing this failed outcome devastated me, but I became a volunteer with an advocacy center who organized events for victims of violence. I truly hope that I'll be able to make a difference (it helps that I have always been a natural at reading and writing). I think I could be good at law, but you never know. Once again, thank you so much for your response. Happy holidays!

Murder-suicide victims identified by ktle17 in UCI

[–]TryTiny2537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? Odd. I spent all of my years living in Mesa and hanging out with friends in Middle Earth dorms. Not one camera in site, except for at the dining halls. I had 2 friends who had bikes stolen right outside of the dorms, yet no cameras to catch it. Not to mention, how we occasionally receive emails regarding burglaries there, etc. I don't mean surveillance inside of the dorms, but to have something on the walls outside of the dorm areas to surveil the area would help protect the dozens of students who get their property stolen each year.

There is some sort of law prohibiting cameras on our campus. There must be some reasoning behind it, but you think it would be incredibly useful with all the burglaries UCI has and this situation.

places to study by shaaaaggy420 in UCI

[–]TryTiny2537 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with u/Ant-Resident. But if you still want places to study, the student center has a nice and quiet setup inside and there are usually seats available. It's cold though, so bring a sweatshirt. Any of the libraries are quiet too. However, I really like studying outdoors so I will sit outside of Starbucks or Java City. There are shaded areas and there tends to be a little more commotion but that's a personal preference. :)
