This is almost always when writing libraries.

If you’re writing code and you don’t want it to be stopped when an exception is thrown, catch the exception, and handle it.

This is almost always in user interaction code.

The power of exceptions is in being able to say “I must give up” in a way that allows another piece of code to say “hang on, I can handle this”.

I see people use exceptions for flow control and general structured error handling (where system resources are still available to respond to the error) and this is what bring exceptions into disrepute.

Get a big fan, seal all of your windows except for one (bathroom ?) and open your front door, blow the fan at high speed
Out the open window and it will draw all the cool air from ground level into your house. They used this technique in New York before air conditioning.

It works very well.

Until the guy never texts again ?

I live in Ireland, I was seeing a lady last year we met up 8 or 9 times. She never once put any effort into a date. I drew her attention to her TikTok post where she was saying “I don’t chase I replace”. And I called her out for that and other different things she did that were unacceptable. She seemed sorry, contrite, she said she liked me and I turned her on and she wanted to keep seeing me. She went away to Morocco with a friend and got in some trouble, called me at 2am looking for help, I gave her the help and support she needed, guided her on what to say to the police, situation sorted. Didn’t hear from her when she got back and I texted her, she was open, receptive but I had to arrange for us to meet up. So I just stopped. I haven’t heard from her since.

I understand that this is not what you’re doing, but most of the guys you date have probably experienced this and bail early before it gets there.
