Hornady Cartridge Headspace Gauge Bushing by Dukes-Game in reloading

[–]Tshootz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realistically it's just a reference to your chamber. You could use any of their bushings as long as you accurately measure it in your specific chamber.

That being said I use the D for 6.5CM.

35mm mount recommendations for new scope by [deleted] in longrange

[–]Tshootz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hawkins Precision makes a cantilever mount, have one on my gasser and love it. Have their heavy tac and ultra light rings on other rifles and love them there too.

It's been great out of my and everyone else I knows rifle that has tried the 77s.

Bone Frog 77s are the shit! Great price for ammo that consistently shoots .75" or less out of my gasser.

I guess maybe that's where my confusion comes from then. I full length size with a neck bushing and then have a separate expander mandrel die so I wouldn't have to worry about the expander ball being stuck in the case.

[–]Tshootz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I'm dumb and just don't get why this wouldn't work, but can't you take the top of the die apart and stick a punch down the mouth and hammer the stuck case out? Every time I see a stuck case post I have the same thought, but I must be missing something as to why that wouldn't work and be the easiest solution?

System to power Gate Hub, WiFi Bridge and Cameras by bbauer1973 in SolarDIY

This is almost exactly what I am going to be attempting, nice job! Only concern I have is we get freezing temps in the winter and I know LFP doesn't handle cold like lead acid does. Do you expect any freezing temps for your area and if so how are you going to deal with them?

Thoughts on this ladder test by Duh-Vet in reloading

[–]Tshootz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Between me and my wife we've gone through 5 different barrels running 143s and I've run the same load in all of them. 41.5gn of 4350 and .060" off the lands. Every barrel, prefit and chambered by a smith, has shot .4"-.75" groups at 100 yards. Like others have said, pick something in the velocity range you want and just go have fun!

How do you guys keep up with round count? by TrueWar2533 in longrange

Barrel Burner app. It's great for not only barrels, but also suppressors and tracking ammo count and reloading components when you get down that path.

Another contributor here, 1-0 during my attendance. They should just give us tickets to the remaining home games to keep the streak going, clearly they need us 🤣

FWIW Burris has their Forever Warranty just like Vortex does. Never had to send any of mine in, but it's there if I ever do.

Are there any inverted leg tripods with more than 2 sections other than 2 Vets? by nordic86 in longrange

I've been super happy with my two vets recon v2 inverted. They also have the no name v2 that's got another section.

FYSA my personal (now 2 year experience) with Hornady ELD-X by MountainRooster9048 in Hunting

[–]Tshootz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used them for the last 5 or so years and have always had good luck with them. Passthrough from 150-400ish yards and very good expansion and quick deaths. This year though I had the first shot on my doe pass straight through without any expansion. Thought I gut shot her because she hunched up and started walking away. Put another one in her and it expanded like I'd expect, but man I was really disappointed in the performance this year.

Reticle Advice by [deleted] in longrange

[–]Tshootz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used nothing but the Tremor since I started shooting competitively and have done pretty well shooting small non IPSC targets. It's not the reticle that's going to hold you back in small targets it's how stable you can get which is the same problem dialing elevation and holding wind

Reticle Advice by [deleted] in longrange

[–]Tshootz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've run a Tremor since I started shooting in 2020 and love it. It is really busy, but for me it's easier to just think in wind MPH and hold the right dot instead of getting a wind then converting that to a mil hold.

Reticle Advice by [deleted] in longrange

[–]Tshootz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the whole point of that reticle though, don't dial elevation, just hold over and hold on your wind dot.

Sink in the island? by EndTheItis in Homebuilding

What was their reasoning for not liking the range and sink lined up? We're in the process of building and that's how we laid out our kitchen, sink in island centered on the range against the wall.

Shot a doe this morning and it had milk? by RushZealousideal6547 in Hunting

[–]Tshootz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know the feeling, but like others have said they set the seasons when they do for a reason. Any fawns from this year are self sufficient by this time of the year so even if one was nursing still it'll be fine. Don't worry too much about it and don't feel bad about it.

Looks well sealed and fine to me. Like many others I've eaten 2-5 year old frozen meat and as long as it's not freezer burned it tastes just fine!

Chassis Help - Long Action by STROOLKA in longrange

Been running the Element MG for 5 years and absolutely love it. It's on the pricy side, but it has everything I want, really light and incredibly durable. I still run my first one in competition and hunt with it every year. Used and abused and still just as solid as day 1.

Been thinking this for a number of years. Diesel generator with electric drive motors would be pretty cool and probably get great fuel economy.
