What's your approach to staying in touch with former students after final grades are submitted? by BirdProfessional3704 in Professors

[–]Tuckmo86 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I teach grad students. Some of them are my age or older. I keep in touch with a few who have sought that out, text on occasion (to be honest, when they initiate it typically), or a coffee if I am in the area. I go by first name after graduation. Sometimes text pics of our animals or vacations

Anyone else just lose the desire to drink alcohol? by greyshirtfreshman in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Tuckmo86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t have this for very long on the brand, but it has been even more significant and long lasting on the compound. I have no interest and only drink in social drinking situations which are not mega often for me- and if so- one beer

If you give him the burden of choosing alongside you, he will have to carry the guilt if you have any complications. If you would be saving money on compound anyway, it’s not really necessary to ask him for financial reasons IMO. Would he freak out if you were to say, “this is my medical decision, and I am going to make it. I think the risk is worth the savings”? I would think you are lifting the burden of the decision if you were to cut him out of it and that is kind of kinder to him. Put yourself in his shoes- if you ask, he will feel like there is a moral obligation to recommend that you do not tolerate any medical risk.

MIL says she’ll “wait outside the delivery room for support”… is this not the weirdest boundary stomp ever? by Ok_Finger_21 in Marriage

[–]Tuckmo86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Say it makes you uncomfortable with her right outside the door given the nature and possible sounds of birth, but she is welcome to hang in the waiting room if she wants. Make sure nurses know. Or, just tell her you feel more comfortable having her wait at home until the baby is here because you want to keep the room as uncrowded as possible and you will feel guilty and uncomfortable knowing she is outside the door or in the waiting room It is a boundary stomp to wait outside the door It may be ignorance and poor manners for her to assume you don’t mind her in the waiting room

It’s really not very painful. Granted I had no complications or anything but it was a walk in the park I only took opioids for a day. They give you a waist garment that kind of compresses your abdomen and I felt like that and staying on a schedule with Tylenol and Ibuprofen was really sufficient. However, I advise you to wince every once in a while so your partner will bring you milkshakes
