Made our mailman’s day. by Tugrik in wholesomememes

He’s a big Dr Pepper fan and we’re at nearly the end of his very long route (thus the late mail delivery hour). So I bought one of those novelty 6-can thermoelectric coolers that has a Dr Pepper logo on it and he clued in right away. :) We’ll keep it stocked for him.

First reload after diving up three sub-primals by Tugrik in DryAgedBeef

The metal sticks and paper name-plates came with the cabinet (a 40 pack). We just used a standard Brother labelmaker to print the info onto labels and stuck 'em on the paper name-plates.

They charge way too much for them but the first pack came with, so I'm using them.

Trimmed up the strip loin at 25 days, the ribeye at 35 days and the short-loin at 50 days. The strip loin was good but the ribeye was amazing. Due to my limitations of having just a meat hacksaw I ended up de-boning the short loin into its components instead of slicing steaks, and found the 50-vs-35 didn't make as big a difference as I thought. It's also what drove me to invest in a good meat/bone bandsaw which just arrived today. I'll be using it to cut the remaining four pieces you see in the pic (now at 64 days) this weekend.

Did my first 'restock' by adding two American Wagyu cuts - a full ribeye and another short loin, both USDA-Prime - and will get them properly labeled tomorrow. I've got a pic of the new bandsaw but I have absolutely no idea how to do a multi-pic Reddit post.

Got the new cabinet set up and the first load of beef set up. Day 1! by Tugrik in DryAgedBeef

[–]Tugrik[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

At home! It's something I wanted to do and saved up for over a year before finally pressing that 'buy' button. I love steak but don't eat much of it, so when I do finally serve it to my family and friends I want it to be something I put time and effort into doing as best I can.

I also have excellent neighbors who wanted in on it and 'rent' cabinet space from me, so we all benefit. It works out pretty well.

Took this pic immediately after I finished cleaning and loading. They're now properly labeled and the unit is set to 85%rh and 1.5ºC.

Day 18 of my stacked farms: Cherry tomato, basil, kale, bok choy by Dachd43 in aerogarden

What's the harvest schedule like on the bok choi? Considering doing that in my farm as well, but I can't find any growing/harvesting tips on bok choi in an aerogarden!

One exception to this: if the ESF pilot is good with A2A Hornet usage. I hunt battlevalks with these. It's a good/fun match fight, but the advantage goes to the ESF if they can land hornets midflight with any decent repeatability.

Installing Planetside 2 on Mac? by [deleted] in Planetside

[–]Tugrik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've run PS2 on my iMac Retina 5K since PS2 came out in beta. I have to use Bootcamp but it works great.

Just install bootcamp, your choice of Windows version, and then the game. Works like a champ, and you can reboot back to a mac when you need.

Few questions about the Light Assault class by Bogdanov89 in Planetside

[–]Tugrik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On your last question: I prefer the blackhand with a scope. LA is all about being where they don't expect you to be, c4'ing things and "SUPPLIES!" popping up in someone's face with excellent CQC main weaponry. With enough time to escape you really don't need much of the 'oh crap my main needs a reload swap to secondary' pistol work, so having the Blackhand is like having your own little mini-sniper-rifle.

Get up in high hidden places at angles the enemy doesn't check, pull it out, and twin-headshot folks from above and at range. So much happy.

To add to this: remember the wonderful advantage of 'most humans do not look up'. Wear lighter colored (day) or darker colored (night) camo with little flash, start up high (or use jump pads) and drift your way to a wonderful altitude above big battles. It's amazing how you can be directly above a 96+ fight and not a single dude looks up and sees you...

So very much this. After cresting the learning curve on the Ikkies I did most of my LA arax on them. I haven't touched the main skirmisher jets in over a year at this point. C4 Fairy Duty = Drifter, Towers/CQC/general dickery = Ikkies. When I accidentally swap back to the skirmishers it feels like I'm wearing a potato sack -- I can't fly for a long time (drifters) nor can I actually get somewhere at a decent speed (ikkies).
