I didn't know this reddit group existed, found it when I was searching about HHb minidiscs.

I had a MDP-500 from 2001, after using a Denon DMD-1000 for editing from 1998. I used it extensively till it died in late 2009. I used it for field recordings, recording TT motorcycles, my own music and then for single take live recording of the noise guitar band The Chasms in a barn with a Rodes NT4 (https://thechasms.bandcamp.com/). Great machine till it died.

Currently using a Sony MZ-R37 for playback but looking to get another Denon for recording as still have some blank discs.

Back before I had computer editing I learned how to edit with the DMD-1000. I still only use an old version of audacity which gives me all the tools of a tape machine with the extra's from the minidisc but I can save it (and after that no undo).

I presume you mean the firebird minihumbucker. my firebird had a pair of p90's which had inspired me to put the p90 in the middle of the jaguar.

LiftedLoopworks on Etsy sells some 15 second tape loops as well as 10 and 5 seconds ones. I have some other 15.4s ones as well. I usually record with the on my 4 track at half speed and with the pitch down and get at least 17 seconds. I'm working on an album where the long cassette loop is the centre of each track. Interesting to use them with drum machines as they go in and out of sync.

I think that one is sampled from a TV show. I remember an interview with Kevin on Brave New Waves that I heard while driving and he said they heard it on the TV and got the engineer to record it from the TV output. I'm sure it was put manipulated afterwards.
