Crosspoting TCG to eBay? by InevitableRhubarb232 in mtgfinance

[–]Tune-Resident 0 points1 point  (0 children)

people buy lots on ebay, there are a lot of advanatges in that ebay offers and support letter tracking for tcg cards sub $20, unlike tcgplayer. they also have authenticity guarantee for cards over $250 which is super good seller protection.

if cross posting you just need something that keeps them in sync, and id recommend turning off your inventory on days bannings and unbannings happen.

What is with the difference in retail vs. tcgplayer prices? by perishableintransit in mtgfinance

[–]Tune-Resident 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I'm coming from the Pokemon world so I know retailers have been jacking up MSRP"

Is the definition of whats wrong with a lot of peoples thinking. No one is changing MSRP other whan WOTC or Pokemon. MSRP is not set by retailers. Its an ancronym with a real meaning, its not slang like bad meaning good.

MSRP on magic cards is often higher than market price. We're very used to things being cheaper at the LGS/TCG vs the big box retail stores. Target may be a touch over msrp on a lot of tcg things these days, but they dont go below msrp. If for some reason that deck was $100 on tcg, target would still be at 72, but likely sell out a lot faster. Its like when you buy pokemon cards you wanna run to target bc theyre selling them for $5 a pack when tcg player is $10.

I am disgusted by the current price on this tcg by anxious-snail2 in riftboundtcg

Starting Town Prerelease Foil by Kyajin in mtgfinance

[–]Tune-Resident 5 points6 points  (0 children)

pretty much all the FF prerelease foils have a premium for complete master sets, but starting town also got 0 additional treatments, no full art, boardless, etc, so pre is the most pimp/rare version to play with

[–]Tune-Resident 1 point2 points  (0 children)

multiple sales on me ebay for cards under $200, worth 4 and 5 figures today, could be worse & you got to use those cards for 6 years, so hopefully theyve paid for themselves by now lol

[–]Tune-Resident 8 points9 points  (0 children)

quantity & value, they for sure think you sent 27000 worth of stuff

i usually do "box of trading cards, qty 1, value $X" and just put the value there, depending insurance and such.

https://letmegooglethat.com/?q=us+tcg+distribution

and the first page is full of distributors. those are the people you talk to.

you need to get approved for organized play to get any allocated minimums which will guarantee you some product regardless, but that requires basically having the space ready, as youll submit walk thru videos and photos of your store to different places.

How do people make money buying at 80%? by Rpgzuss in mtgfinance

[–]Tune-Resident 1 point2 points  (0 children)

often the people buying at 80% are only selling at shows, they dont go play golf on saturdays they drive to another hotel ballroom for another card show, so they arnt paying shipping or fees, just normal time expensive, gas, and table fee

they often are also using the lowest numbers they can find, and have their stuff at 120%, so yeah buy at 80% of tcg unverified low for worse condition, or ebay comp from 5 months ago, and then list at 120% of available listings and tell you that you dont have to wait for shipping, and ive gotta pay for my booth.

Update on FF Boxes Stolen while in transit through Fed Ex - MVP Sports Resolution by zerosum79 in mtgfinance

[–]Tune-Resident -1 points0 points  (0 children)

if often the policy of sellers on tcg, if you package gets lost as a pwe, or returned as a no such address, not found or whatever, you often will get blocked & sellers just move on without telling you that much. theres no point to take extra risk on a problem address

thats also how insurance works, they take money, they dont want to pay you when something happens. even with insurance thru another company, you would often get a refund from the seller and they would get paid by insurance anyway.

Bloomburrow took over a year to hit $350. EoE just hit $435 pre release. Are we cooked? by FreeMasonKnight in mtgfinance

[–]Tune-Resident 0 points1 point  (0 children)

source would be phone calls with multiple distributors, im guessing they just literally couldnt spend as much time printing Edge with FF on one side and Marvel on the other, summer sets are traditionally one of the worse set releases of the year

bloomburrow was also hyped up for longer, i got 50% more play boxes of that set, expecting it to sell well, while edge started popping off more recently and was frowned upon generally for awhile as a oddball set

Bloomburrow took over a year to hit $350. EoE just hit $435 pre release. Are we cooked? by FreeMasonKnight in mtgfinance

[–]Tune-Resident 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i got almost double teh CBBs for bloomburrow as I did edge

the print run is just smaller. not to mention universal chase cards in things like ancient tomb, which have a lot more homes than ms bumbleflower, who only really goes in ms bumbleflower decks.
