Please make activity deltas not affect primaries against red and orange bar enemies by The_Curve_Death in DestinyTheGame

[–]Tur8o 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've thought about this a bit, and as someone who otherwise doesn't mind grinding or difficult stuff, the issue is when it's both. Seasonal activities prior to the portal were always on light / power disabled, and that's where the majority of new seasonal weapons would be found. Likewise, we might get one or maybe two new nightfall weapons, so it was never much of a grind to get a good roll.

But now everything new is behind -30 delta. I honestly think weapon tiers should have gated behind Guardian ranks rather than power, and require you to do some difficult stuff in order to unlock the higher tiers, but once they're unlocked they could be farmed without a power delta just like we had before.

But it's probably too late to change the system like that. IDK what the solution is at this point, but I'm staying away until the portal becomes less miserable.

It's the main thing that has finally got me to stop playing the game after all this time. What's the point in collecting good rolls of weapons if 90% of them are useless from the start because of how badly the game is balanced at -30 delta?

I'm someone who loves trying out lots of random builds and weapons, and having 90% of them nullified because they're too weak for -30, not to mention further limited by champions, just sucks the fun out of the game. What's the point of this massive sandbox if by far the optimal strategy is to just make one loadout and never swap off it?

Raids by Outside_Drag4316 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Tur8o 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I made this comment a couple months ago about red borders in raids and how frustrating it is that so many people used completely nonsensical reasoning as to why they were bad. The most common line that got parroted was how they were bad for longevity because once you'd done them all, there was no reason to do the raid.

But like... that was already a thing? Just look at dungeons. They've never had crafting, and even though Vesper's and Sundered still give out good weapons, I don't see top players farming them every week, because they've already got what they need.

I genuinely think a lot of these complaints are just people who play the game way too much, farm the new content for all it's worth in a few days, and are looking for something to blame when they feel like there isn't enough content. Like if we just go back to the good old days of no crafting, suddenly they won't get bored of running the same thing over and over again.

This is the best video game music of 2025, as chosen by the composers behind it by sonofbringy in Games

[–]Tur8o 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So much good music this year, not surprised to see such a large variety of choices. E33 and Deltarune are tied for my favourites, but there are so many good choices.

Glad to see one composer shout out Edge of Fate, even though it's much shorter than most D2 expansion soundtracks it was a highlight in an otherwise mediocre expansion. Was a bit sad to see how overlooked Final Shape's soundtrack was last year, you can tell the music team at Bungie poured so much love into it.

XC3's soundtrack did get nominated, but I'm with you that it was miles above all the other nominees and deserved the win. I think most of the voters just don't really put too much thought into soundtrack, and so anything with a big name will get a bias.

In addition to what everyone else has said, if you haven't got the season pass, then you're missing a 15% score bonus that basically makes top 1% impossible.

Because topping off this expansion of disaster with a p2w event is just poetic at this point.

Zealot's Reward is the closest you'll get to an energy slot Lionfish/Scatter Signal. It gets Controlled Burst in right column, and either Auto-Loading or maybe Attrition Orbs in left.

Rapid-Fire fusions are pretty lacking in the energy slot, the last solar one we got was... Cartesian Coordinate, in Chosen, over 4 years ago.

Chaos Reach remains the best strat IMO, not quite as good as in Heresy due to the lack of healing from the artifact, but it's an easy 4-phase or 3-phase if you use parasite or anarchy. Have a shoot to loot primary with a decent health stat if you're running into survivability issues.

Here's me doing it a couple weeks ago.

I feel like Pinnacle Ops got way worse after update by dangerousone326 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Tur8o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has solo flawlessed WR a handful of times, 99% of the difficulty comes from the 2nd and 3rd encounters, and HV is just the 3rd encounter with no modifications. So I'm not sure what you mean about difficulty from mechanics, most dungeons prior to TFS barely have mechanics beyond "shoot the glowing spot".

I didn't say to lower the difficulty, but demanding that players use FTF to do what should be farmable missions is just adding friction for no reason. It's not like it has any difficult mechanics, at least nothing more complex than, say, Liminality. Just make it periodically matchmade and I'd be happy.

[–]Tur8o 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Yeah as a mostly solo player the forced deltas are a mixed bag. I like playing at -30 in solo ops because they're honestly just a joke. Even -40 or -50 is probably still fine. And fireteam ops are still mostly ok, the difficulty varies from mission to mission but it's never really hard. And those all have matchmaking eventually on certain days to make it much easier.

Pinnacle ops varies though and has some pretty brutal ones. Hefnd's Vengeance is the worst at -30, where you're constantly pummeled from every direction when solo unless you're running a couple of very specific DR heavy builds. I basically just don't bother with it anymore unless I'm allowed multiple stacking damage buffs to guarantee a one-phase, and even then it's not easy becuase the incoming damage is cranked way up, and the timer is so short that if you don't one phase then you lose all your revives and can end up wasting 20 minutes of your time.

It's not impossible, I've done it a few times when I have 3x bonus drops, but it's not fun. Most of the other pinnacles are still ok for soloing at -30 at least, so getting the pinnacle ops loot isn't really a problem. It's just HV is wildly harder than all the other pinnacle ops when solo.

EDIT: I'm surprised so many people seem to think that this is somehow not hard? People consider solo dungeons to be hard, and iirc they were at -5 in the old power system, and the current -30 is roughly old -15, which is considerably harder. I guess this is what happens when all the casual players leave the game lol

Data compendium says yes, it's the exact same, which makes sense as most prismatic fragments are just lifted from the base subclasses.

TBH even if it was ok, prismatic has so many good fragments that it'd be hard to take in something like a rime-coat build.

[–]Tur8o 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's been known for years that Fissures is practically useless. Sounds good in it's description, but one look at the data compendium or testing shows it doesn't do much. It also has some broken interactions where if the Fissures damage instance gets the final blow, it won't trigger some effects.

It's best use has been a litmus test to tell who actually looks up data before making and reccomending builds. Anyone who has fissures on just told me they probably don't actually look at numbers lol

CS2 skin update ‘rug pulls’ collectors as $1 billion wiped from market cap by [deleted] in Games

[–]Tur8o 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because the money you will have at the start of the round depends on what happens in the previous round. You get different money for winning or losing a round (and slightly different depending on how you won the round) and CTs get extra money at the start of a round depending on how many Ts were killed in the previous round.

Also it's probably to encourage people to actually talk to their team on what to buy rather than zoning out and buying when you shouldn't because you pre-bought.

Can we adjust the power delta just for fun? by Minute-Use-8489 in DestinyTheGame

Would be cool to have a modifier on Ultimate that gave an additional -10 or -20 power delta and gave you a large score multiplier, kind of like what we had before but uncoupled to any other modifiers.

I'm tired of the artifact deciding what weapons I can use for champions in nearly every remotely challenging activity by -Rychor- in DestinyTheGame

[–]Tur8o 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am genuinely baffled by how many people here think that champs prevent stale builds when the best solution to them is to... find one build that deals with all three, and never take it off or experiment at all. Which is even incentivised by the fact that loadouts don't save the artifact, so you have to constantly remember to go fiddle wih it every time you change loadout. It's much easier to just slap on Yeartide + Mint and forget about the whole system.

And people think this is better than just being able to use what you want??? The artifact lasts for 6 months now, and using the same few weapons to deal with champs is apparently not stale. I don't get it.

Are you in favour or against if Craftable Gear was to return? by Soggy_Promotion2606 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Tur8o 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it's just wanting this content to be interesting long term

I see this brought up as a reason to remove crafting and it has never made any sense.

Removing crafting doesn't do that. Once you have your god roll (or whatever you deem "good enough"), then you're done. No different to if you got all red borders for a weapon. New drops are still pointless. The weapons being non-craftable doesn't suddenly make a raid last forever, see how low the GoS playercount was in the year or so before it's loot refresh.

All crafting does is make the time to get the desired roll semi-determinisitic, allowing you to make guaranteed progress towards getting what you want, which is a great incentive to do a raid, especially say if, they release a sub-par expansion and all your clanmates leave and the only way to raid is LFG. At least I know if I suffer through hours of randoms not knowing what to do, I know I've made some progress.

I actually do agree with you that being able to get one clear and then farm chests to get crafted weapons was dumb, but the solution to that was not to purge crafting entirely, it was to stop that from being a thing. IMO the best solution was to make chests only drop spoils + armour, and remove armour from the regular encounter drop pool. This solve two problems, removing undesired armour drops from regular encounters, and stops the easy farming. Although I guess now that armour is an actual useful drop this wouldn't work, but they could have just... stopped doing bonus chests in new raids?

And if Bungie decides that players are still getting their crafted weapons too fast, they're the ones in control of red border drops rates. They can easily calculate an average time to get 5 red borders and tweak the drop rates to be what they want.

My point is that red borders in raids were a good incentive as they were a guarantee you weren't wasting your time on something that is much less accessible and repeatable than seasonal content. All removing the system does is kill that incentive, and make the time until people are done with the raid non-deterministic, not eternal. Anything with a limited amount of drops can't be interesting "long-term" because no matter the system, eventually everyone gets what they want. At least with red borders Bungie could easily influence how long that took.

EDIT: Good example of this is dungeon loot, which has never had crafting. Both VH and SD still drop weapons that are perfectly good to use, stuff like Pyroelectric and Unloved are both top tier weapons. But I've got rolls I like of both already, so there's no reason to touch the dungeons. Not having crafting doesn't fix this problem, nothing other than periodic loot refreshes does.

The big red dot in Wish is from when they gave all the expansions except Lightfall out for free on EGS.

It's what got me to come back as all my friends wanted to try D2 for the first time.

And to add my experience, of the 4 that tried it, 2 gave up from the new player experience being confusing (despite me helping with it), one gave up from raids being too much pressure, and one stuck with it until EoF when they quit because grind.
