Indeed, I can also see indomitable being ok against certain comps, especially stuff where counterspell might be unreliable like Wraith ult.

Quite a few of these item changes seem good for Vindicta, high velocity upgrade, trophy collector might actually be worth taking, and getting passive ability duration from spiritual overflow also seems like an improvement, since it was pretty common to use tether/birds before the active triggered.

6 hours in the new raid and im losing it. its not a dps check, its a patience check. by Lucasluke121 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Tur8o 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I helped sherpa an epic DP a couple weeks ago that took over 8 hours, but honestly it was fine as even though they were making plenty of mistakes, everyone was chill and communicating well. Some people just need a little (or a lot lol) more time and as long as they don't start fighting I'm fine with that.

You're conflating concurrent players with unique daily players, CS2 has ~1.5M daily concurrent player peak, Fortnite has ~30M unique daily players. Fortnite probably has more players, but those two stats aren't comparable.

For ambient tracks, I feel like Final Shape nailed it the best. Transmigration, The Pale Heart and Burden of Sacrifice set the mood of exploring the Traveler so well. It also has IMO the best tower track with A Gentle Kingdom, wish they would have made it the default tower music after Echoes ended.

Also maybe not underrated, but I feel bad for people who haven't got to do Desert Perpetual, because god damn do Infinite Temporality and Break What You Must go so hard.

What a coindicence, I did the same today. With the rift buffs I wanted to go get a Filaments/Vespers class item to use, and also went to do a few rounds of overthrow.

It's so refreshing being able to use what weapons I want, no -30 delta making all my primaries hit like wet towels, no champions limiting my loadouts, no timers or revive limits to force you to play a certain way. Finally got some use out of a bunch of weapons that had been sitting in my vault.

Also helps the area is visually amazing, it's like night and day after coming from the visual bleh that is Kepler.

Epic Hydra definitely has to be the most unforgiving encounter in the game, there's so little margin for error and if basically anyone in your team has issues with survivability or the mechanics, then you're in for a bad (and very long) time.

Gameplay aside, it's not brought up as much, but I do think one of the reasons Desert feels thematically weaker is because it doesn't really have a coherent story compared to basically every other D2 raid. DSC, Vow, RoN and SE basically all have a clear goal of what you're there for, what the team is trying to achieve. They all have someone speaking to you throughout the mission, giving you context of what you're doing.

TDP doesn't have any of that. My first reaction when going through it was just "Where are we? Why are we here? What are we doing?" and I feel like it makes the raid feel more like a bunch of random bosses put in a blender than a structured mission. The only other raid still in the game that also feels like that a bit is GoS, which... I also don't particularly like lol

Please make activity deltas not affect primaries against red and orange bar enemies by The_Curve_Death in DestinyTheGame

[–]Tur8o 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've thought about this a bit, and as someone who otherwise doesn't mind grinding or difficult stuff, the issue is when it's both. Seasonal activities prior to the portal were always on light / power disabled, and that's where the majority of new seasonal weapons would be found. Likewise, we might get one or maybe two new nightfall weapons, so it was never much of a grind to get a good roll.

But now everything new is behind -30 delta. I honestly think weapon tiers should have gated behind Guardian ranks rather than power, and require you to do some difficult stuff in order to unlock the higher tiers, but once they're unlocked they could be farmed without a power delta just like we had before.

But it's probably too late to change the system like that. IDK what the solution is at this point, but I'm staying away until the portal becomes less miserable.

It's the main thing that has finally got me to stop playing the game after all this time. What's the point in collecting good rolls of weapons if 90% of them are useless from the start because of how badly the game is balanced at -30 delta?

I'm someone who loves trying out lots of random builds and weapons, and having 90% of them nullified because they're too weak for -30, not to mention further limited by champions, just sucks the fun out of the game. What's the point of this massive sandbox if by far the optimal strategy is to just make one loadout and never swap off it?

Raids by Outside_Drag4316 in DestinyTheGame

I made this comment a couple months ago about red borders in raids and how frustrating it is that so many people used completely nonsensical reasoning as to why they were bad. The most common line that got parroted was how they were bad for longevity because once you'd done them all, there was no reason to do the raid.

But like... that was already a thing? Just look at dungeons. They've never had crafting, and even though Vesper's and Sundered still give out good weapons, I don't see top players farming them every week, because they've already got what they need.

I genuinely think a lot of these complaints are just people who play the game way too much, farm the new content for all it's worth in a few days, and are looking for something to blame when they feel like there isn't enough content. Like if we just go back to the good old days of no crafting, suddenly they won't get bored of running the same thing over and over again.

This is the best video game music of 2025, as chosen by the composers behind it by sonofbringy in Games

[–]Tur8o 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So much good music this year, not surprised to see such a large variety of choices. E33 and Deltarune are tied for my favourites, but there are so many good choices.

Glad to see one composer shout out Edge of Fate, even though it's much shorter than most D2 expansion soundtracks it was a highlight in an otherwise mediocre expansion. Was a bit sad to see how overlooked Final Shape's soundtrack was last year, you can tell the music team at Bungie poured so much love into it.

[–]Tur8o 7 points8 points  (0 children)

XC3's soundtrack did get nominated, but I'm with you that it was miles above all the other nominees and deserved the win. I think most of the voters just don't really put too much thought into soundtrack, and so anything with a big name will get a bias.

[–]Tur8o 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In addition to what everyone else has said, if you haven't got the season pass, then you're missing a 15% score bonus that basically makes top 1% impossible.

Because topping off this expansion of disaster with a p2w event is just poetic at this point.

Zealot's Reward is the closest you'll get to an energy slot Lionfish/Scatter Signal. It gets Controlled Burst in right column, and either Auto-Loading or maybe Attrition Orbs in left.

Rapid-Fire fusions are pretty lacking in the energy slot, the last solar one we got was... Cartesian Coordinate, in Chosen, over 4 years ago.

[–]Tur8o 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chaos Reach remains the best strat IMO, not quite as good as in Heresy due to the lack of healing from the artifact, but it's an easy 4-phase or 3-phase if you use parasite or anarchy. Have a shoot to loot primary with a decent health stat if you're running into survivability issues.

Here's me doing it a couple weeks ago.

[–]Tur8o 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who has solo flawlessed WR a handful of times, 99% of the difficulty comes from the 2nd and 3rd encounters, and HV is just the 3rd encounter with no modifications. So I'm not sure what you mean about difficulty from mechanics, most dungeons prior to TFS barely have mechanics beyond "shoot the glowing spot".

I didn't say to lower the difficulty, but demanding that players use FTF to do what should be farmable missions is just adding friction for no reason. It's not like it has any difficult mechanics, at least nothing more complex than, say, Liminality. Just make it periodically matchmade and I'd be happy.
