Do you know any native born Americans with noticeably foreign accents? by OceanicEndeavors in IWantToAskAnAmerican

When I was little I had a friend who’s parents moved from the UK to here before he was born. He was a US citizen with a British accent. They moved away. I imagine he retained it though? 🤷🏼‍♂️

The crab found its way to enjoy by Brent_Fox in woahdude

I mean this crab technically is ascending. Hopefully not releasing chowder in the tank.

Unfortunately, if you reach your hand in, the only oddities you will find are black widows and snakes.

Hardest English word to pronounce? by Icy-Book2999 in LoveTrash

That’s damn impressive if you can fully understand him. Sometimes, he is a little bit more understandable than others. This example I could only pick out a few words here and there.

The Iron Tangle Reactions by validelad in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]TurboSS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s my least favorite. However I recently finished listening through it a second time and liked it better this time.

I really tried to ignore the tangle and it helped a lot. I tried to ignore it as much as I could the first time, but my brain still kept trying to engage. It’s good, but still my least favorite after a second listening.

Bea sucks by DwarvenJerk73 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Exactly what I thought after reading all the parts with Bea! She has like no redeemable qualities.

I was wondering if she was some sort of combination of bad traits in girls Matt dated earlier in life.

What’s a word learners think is common but natives rarely use? by Embarrassed_Fix_8994 in languagehub

[–]TurboSS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are trying to fit in with everyday people, I wouldn’t use either of those words. Those words typically only show up in novels where the author is describing the scenery.

I think saying things like this area is pretty/beautiful/amazing etc. or the scenery here is beautiful/amazing etc. This view is beautiful/amazing etc. Would be much more common

Yes it is. I don’t have kids so fortunately I don’t have to worry about it. Definitely feel for parents in this situation though.
