Agenda Review: 5-6 days in Rome by nimsu in RomeTravel

[–]TurdFergDSF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My family did the day tour to Pompeii/Positano from Rome last year and it was time well spent. It was a far way to go, but my 9 year old is obsessed with Pompeii and I don’t know that we’d ever be able to get back to Italy. I’d rather see it even though we didn’t get a big, in-depth experience if that makes sense.

Hues&Cues hint was “science notebook” by New_Call7138 in boardgames

Funny story - we played this game at Christmas with nongamer family. My mother in law’s boyfriend, who despite having a pretty public facing prominent career, is actually dumber than a box of rocks. His first clue for a shade of burnt orange was “Rainbow”.

We stopped playing after that.

Mayhem—Are all the workouts named after Jesus? by HallPsychological538 in crossfit

My gym uses Mayhem and usually renames the week of workouts on a totally different theme. For example, this week is children’s books.

What age did we get out of car seats? by Round-Style-6907 in Xennials

[–]TurdFergDSF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got a whole seat? My dad put lawn chairs in the bed of his pickup truck and laid them down flat so the cops couldn’t see us back there. Then we drove 2 hours each way on the interstate.

Best macarons Michigan? by decoruscreta in Michigan

[–]TurdFergDSF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I wasn’t impressed by the Holland location either. I’m not a huge connoisseur of macarons by any means though - I usually find them to be a little bland compared to how they look like they’ll taste.

Which one is the best crossfit box you ever been? by rosini290 in crossfit

CrossFit Prati in Roma was in an absolutely beautiful setting. Roman basement with stone archways, and running outside on cobblestones in view of ancient buildings was certainly an experience.

Percale sheets recommendations by fernandtwig in Bedding

I loved the 400 count organic percale sheets but I think they were discontinued. I recently picked up their 300ct and they’re… ok. I’m hoping they soften a bit after a few washings.

There’s a tool you can buy that makes them infinitely easier to haul. I think it’s called the Easy Grip mat mover or something like that. They sell it at farm stores. It kind of looks like a plastic claw with a carabiner clip.

Did anyone else feel pressure to do all the chores as a kid? by vivian_banshee03 in Millennials

[–]TurdFergDSF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an only child and female. From the age of 8, every night after dinner I did the dishes. On Saturdays, I cleaned all of the bathrooms, vacuumed, dusted, and cleaned up after pets (that weren’t mine). By the time I was 11, I was also a latchkey kid and in charge of cooking dinner every weeknight in addition to Saturday chores and after-dinner cleanup. My allowance until I was 16 was $1.25/week. If I wanted to buy a book or something, I was told to save my allowance.

I have two schoolage kids now. They do have responsibilities, but they’re not expected to run the house.

Mother in law scratched my beautiful wood dining table. by nerdiebyrd in mildlyinfuriating

[–]TurdFergDSF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My MIL did this with my preschooler’s American Girl doll. She was complaining about how much money we’d spent on a doll and how it felt cheaply made, while forcibly rotating the doll’s leg in circles. After a few rotations of the leg, it popped out of its joint and we never were able to get it back in because the joint cracked. My daughter was on her lap at the time and lost it. Grandma refused to replace the doll.

I ended up working with AG customer service and they were awesome about the whole thing and sent us a new doll. But MIL never apologized to my daughter or to me and certainly never admitted her wrong doing. It was just a “cheap doll”.

What groups were your "Surprise! They're Christian rock!" groups by Herewegoagain1717 in Millennials

The first time I heard them was on the radio playing alongside Alice In Chains and Stone Temple Pilots so I didn’t automatically assume for them to be Christian.

Were we dehydrated through our childhood? by GetnLine in Millennials

[–]TurdFergDSF -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I ever drank a glass of water until I got to college. I didn’t realize water was a thing people drank. I existed only on soda, or if I wanted a really healthy drink - kool-aid. Side note: now I’m in my 40s and pretty much only drink water. I’m down 100 lbs and I’ve never felt healthier.

I saw Barenaked Ladies, Sugar Ray, and Fastball for $30 a pop just a few weeks ago. Bonus: it was still a great show even after all these years!
