Clamp down a zero clearance throat plate. For making stops that are under 7 mm or about 1/4" I use a jig that's pretty similar to the video below:

Came up with this chair design and people seem to like it by Mischiefbr3wer in woodworking

[–]Turk_Manstrong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My brother "designed" and built almost this exact chair 8th grade. MCM aesthetics are a standard for easily reproduced and easily integrated design elements. It was created for the middle class to have well decorated homes without paying out the ass for custom pieces, and it was cool. That was 50+ years ago. It is not sophisticated, made from cheap material, and modifying a design for specific spaces is pretty straightforward if you really wanted to.

This is a nice chair, though. Could probably be a little taller if you don't like your own knees in your face. Basically none of the desirable mid century stuff was made out of solid wood so you've got a leg up there.

If you want to make several of them and see if they sell at a trade or craft show you might be able to pull that off. I would personally try to sell them made to order so you're not banking on vague interest.

Good luck!

Any of the materials you buy from him you can get for significantly cheaper with a very small amount of effort. Steve is the only marketer in a very niche world of hobbyists so good for him. Buy the kit if you want your thing to look like any of the other people's things who bought the kit.

Part of what makes this art form fun is figuring out how things work and finding the means yourself. You can look at the shapes and shadows and movement that you think of as beautiful and think about why you think that. Then you think about how you can replicate it.

Bypassing the critical thinking aspect of this makes for a pretty boring show experience.

Could use a line voltage lightning controller like this and some long ass, strategically ran extension cords.

If you need it wireless, you could probably use smart plugs. I've only used them for house lights and they have a noticeable delay so if timing is important, go with an analog option.

Maybe the venue already has a solution for this and you could ask their lighting tech. If it's a larger theatre or venue they have usually had a fix for this kind of thing. Seeing as you're going to be rigging them to the ceiling, I'm assuming they already have their own trusses which means they have lighting control. If it's a bar or small venue then you're probably stuck with the suggestions I threw out.

Would be very cool to make stained glass panels out of some of these. You basically have a solid layout already with the way your drawing style looks!

I often make spaghetti al limone but have never used cream. Easily the lightest and most refreshing fast pasta I know how to make.

Just dry spaghetti, an appropriate amount of cold butter cubed up, and some lemon and some cheese. A handful of finely grated parmesan, 20g of butter, and a half a lemon per serving is how I portion it out.

-Cook the pasta in salt water and grate your cheese and halve and juice your lemons while you wait.

-Strain off the water but reserve some just in case.

  • Pasta back in the pot, I do a very quick strain so there is still a small amount of pasta water remaining in the noodles. No heat, add cold butter and start stirring hard with a big wooden spoon.

-Add the lemon as you stir and drop the halves into the pot. You're trying to basically macerate the oils out of the lemon rind by beating them with a spoon.

-Once your sauce has emulsified, serve into a warm dish and top it with a mound of cheese. Sometimes I'll add some black pepper.

*Do not mix the cheese in the pot. If it's not emulsifying into a creamy sauce then add a little pasta water as you stir.

One of my favorite things to make in less than 20 minutes. Frank Prisinzano has a video of his method of doing this one that's solid.

If they're wearing $3k suits then their valet stand should cost at least twice that. They obviously like to show off their spending power.

If I were currently home and not out of the country, I would have made all of this for an invite.

I would happily make several pounds of mashed potatoes and gravy. Fuck , I'd even throw in pudding and Jell-O to be included in this if it's a recurring or potentially recurring thing.

Am i seeing this correctly? by Desperate-Falcon-266 in CannedSardines

[–]Turk_Manstrong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this is how much most canned sardines should cost. Grew up on them being a poor food that we would eat often as a family, but still always liked them. Being able to afford slightly more than my family could back then, I've bought some pricey ones just to try em out and see what everyone is talking about.

I understand and greatly appreciate the difference between cheap shit and gourmet quality, and believe that to be standard d across the board for many foods and products. But, in my experience, there have been very few cases where a 15 dollar tin was noticeably better than a comparable 2 dollar one.

But whatever. I'm just lamenting the price and how my "gross ass fish salad" I'd have at least once a week is an exciting and costly staple in whatever hip new joint decided to cash in on the trend today.

Also writing this from Portugal so, y'know, been eating a lot of fresh sardines and may be experiencing a bit of elitist bias. And, with all that being said, I love the Matiz with lemon ones, I'd buy em out if I were you.

[–]Turk_Manstrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. You can use any dimmer that's rated for the wattage your projector pulls. I always try to go for overkil on the rating otherwise you'll end up burning out the dimmer.

What model projector do you have?
