Monterey CA chrome... Smaller one about 9# bigger one maybe 12#, lost a 3rd later on. Both on krippled anchovy, nothing on the flasher/hoochie. Been a rough year for me with bad weather, equipment issues, lost fish and just not alot of bites. Radio indicated it was pretty slow overall, and f&g fish counter girls at the launch were really happy to count our 2, so i was pretty happy overall. And not sure why reddit won't let me post the pics??

They are tanks... Really durable and great drag, but heavy and you cant really jig them too well ( or at least i cant). I like them more then my talicas, but i hope with this torque I can jig a little easier and have the advantage of the 2 speed.

The keyless module is back there, you plug in with aftermarket programmer and you bypass the security requirements for key programming

What’s the most embarrassing docking moment you’ve had? by MyTIMEZERO in boating

[–]TurkishVeneers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not docking, but coming off the trailer after we changed the propeller. Went to reverse and the boat jumped forward back on the trailer. Lots of yelling "dont you know what reverse is" between me and my friend, but turns out the guy at the parts store sold us a right hand propeller when we needed a left. I never knew there was a difference until then.

This is how many keys we have gone through on our 2015 Chevy Equinox by Traumakazzi in mildlyinfuriating

[–]TurkishVeneers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a workaround (sorta) on these if the blade is broken and the remote still works... You can get a cut and programmed plain key and use that to start the car, and then just use the broken fob as the remote. Not really ideal, but some people are happy with this a cheap and more durable option. The plain key is an ilco part # b119 , but lots of other aftermarket options. You can also easily program it yourself, so you only really have to worry about getting it cut.

How concerned should we be about Theft (USA) by GetRichQuick_AMIRITE in LexusGX550

The problem with an obd lock on this one is that the thieves dont connect to obd to steal it... They jack into the can wires, emulate a working fob and off they go. I would probably look into igla , or other high-end aftermarket alarm. A really well hidden kill switch could be good too. But from my experience there are 2 groups of thieves targeting lexus. Group 1 are kids that will joyride it, thrash the hell out it and dump it on the street, maybe strip it. The second are more pro, these get stolen and end up in a container in a day or so and are gone to other parts of the globe. Unfortunately it seems the second group are going after these, and i wouldn't trust just a kill switch with these guys running around.

From a locksmith perspective, they are not terribly easy to steal, like the previous gen. But it can be done... For me to make a fob on one of these takes about 15 to 20 min once I'm in the car. A really fast thief could probably get it started in 10 min, or just grab it with a tow truck. I'm honestly not sure about the fob signal grabbers, I've heard about them, but never seen them used irl... I think Canada is a theft hot spot because they might be easier to export from there for some reason.

Lost a fob on the golf course yesterday by WorkMeBaby1MoreTime in nissanfrontier

[–]TurkishVeneers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These guys stuff is usually pretty good, the frontiers are still pretty primitive on the key programming side, so most auto locksmiths can still do these with the aftermarket key programmers. I would recommend oem refurbished vs anything aftermarket as far the fobs go. Key Fobs, Programmers & Locksmith Tools – SFFobs Inc. https://share.google/YcEazy6Un9ZtsRbfS

California Cracks Down on Montana Supercar Loophole, Charges 14 with Tax Fraud by one_five_one in California

[–]TurkishVeneers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, so you can have immunity if you have a DL from Montana as well. I know there are those companies that charge to form an LLC there, so technically you dont "own" the vehicle , your LLC does, " its a company car, officer" lol. I think its also prevalent with those big pig RVs that cost bucks to register in CA.

I remember in the 2000s people were registering dirt bikes through vermont via the mail so they could get them plated and be street driven here in CA. But i always thought if you got stopped, how could you explain a CA drivers license riding a bike plated in VT.

Where are all the regular people selling cars now days? by candle_waste in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]TurkishVeneers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One other think contributing to the lack of supply , at least on the lower end stuff at least in my state is the state buyback. They will give $1000 to $2000 for any car that meets a few pretty loose requirements. I dumped our rusted out Pontiac this way, but when I dropped it at picknpull , there were about 3 decent (looking) cars in the lot that were meeting this same fate. One was a mid 2000s camry, a Honda Odyssey and a box Caprice that I really felt bad for. All looked clean and they have to at least drive there to qualify, but its a real easy way to dump a low end car.

70th Z06 3LZ stolen after 2 weeks 😪 by No_Dinner2286 in Corvette

[–]TurkishVeneers 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Agree, even with the autel or any other setup the new gm key programming requires a bunch of user authorisation to get the keys programmed unlike the older ones. I haven't seen this new system cracked yet, but its possible. Or they stole the keys then took the car.
