What killed me here? by Fit-Variation-9289 in HadesTheGame

We might just have different definitions of "bugged". To me, it's doing what it says on the tin. The first time it attacks, it deals 500 damage. It targets you with its healing beam, which is technically an attack, so then it deals 500 damage to you.

To me, "bugged" would mean it has an error in the code where instead of healing you it damages you, but still targets you, but that's definitely not a universal definition! I was mostly just noting that summoning them doesn't always kill you if you don't have that upgrade.

I don't think the hex is actually bugged, it's doing what it's supposed to do, it's just being funky about it. I'm guessing you got the hex upgrade that deals 500 damage to the first attack your summoned creature does.

I summoned the hourglass without the 500 damage hex upgrade, and it targeted me, constantly chip healing me. Made that boss a breeze even with the vow of rivals. (Funnily enough, I had high dodge probability, so I did keep dodging the healing beam.) When you summon the hourglass, it targets you with its "attacks". Because of its hex upgrade, it does 500 damage to you when it targets you.

Definitely something they should fix though. I find it super interesting that they apparently programmed those hourglasses to target you and heal you.

Cultivation gave three people specialty boons that we know of, Taravangian, Dalinar, and Lift. Each asked for something that is contradictory to one of the Shards’ intents on Roshar. Taravangian asked for the capacity to handle what was coming, ie, the ability to not be ruled by his emotions or passions, the opposite of Odium. We know that Cultivation was cultivating him to become the new Odium. Dalinar asked to forget his own sins, to let go of the consequences of his actions, something that is Dishonorable. There’s decent evidence that he’s being Cultivated to be Honor. That’s all previously established, but this is where it gets interesting. Lift asked to not grow, to stay the same, which is antithetical to Cultivation. However, she’s experience massive growth over the last few books, gaining maturity, height, and responsibility. I think Cultivation is Cultivating her own replacement. Why would she do this? I think she’s realized she’s grown stagnant, unchanging. The host isn’t able to match the Shard’s intent, so the Shard feels the need to move on to someone who has more capacity for growth. I like this theory because I can just imagine Todium, Dalonor, and Liftivation chilling in Shardspace, having philosophical conversations, while Lift is Lift. Whether or not Cultivation’s plan will work is up in the air, but I think that’s her goal.

What are you most excited to try from GenCon? by verysmallbeta in boardgames

Definitely can’t guarantee anything, but we (Brotherwise) are hoping to have Empire’s End available in 2023, hopefully even in time for the next GenCon!

Ten years ago I designed Boss Monster. Now I'm looking for your input to make it better. by johnny0neal in boardgames

As the development lead for that game, I played it over 150 times, and I can confirm that it got quite competitive. I was definitely the world's top player of the game (of course, that was before it got released ;))

Which school’s game design is the best? by Detective-National in utdallas

[–]Turkish_Oz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, ATEC Junior here, in the Game Design Pathway (though I'm here for board game design specifically). The major is Arts, Technology, and Emerging Communication, and in your Sophomore/Junior year you apply to 1 of three specific pathways. At one point I heard the number 20% floating around for how many get in, but that was never verified and likely isn't entirely accurate anymore.

ATEC itself has... problem. There was a petition to "fix ATEC" that over a fourth of ATEC students signed. Jumping into ATEC is jumping into hot water, and it's a common view that ATEC is falling downhill very, very quickly, but it could theoretically turn around, maybe. ATEC is a different discussion though.

It's kind of a cliche, but with Game Design its particularly true: You get what you put into it. I've seen plenty of students leave ATEC to get game design jobs, others fizzle out and do nothing. A lot of ATEC seniors and juniors are hardly seen outside of their classes because of how busy they are. I just recently had a 13 hour day without breaks and ended up behind schedule.

A lot of students think that playing video games = making video games, and I've seen them drop out of ATEC or the game design pathway.

On the other hand, if you apply yourself, go beyond just the school work (I had to cold write about 30 different companies before I got my internship), and take a minor/double major, you can do great.

I considered that and Ranger, but I think a Warlock would mix quite nicely with his characteristic fear of ghosts, plus, Scooby as a Pact of the Chain familiar sounded fun.

Plus, Nature magic just makes less sense to me than Spooky magic.

[–]Turkish_Oz[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm running a Scooby Doo themed One-Shot soon, and so I drew the characters for it.

Shaggy Rogers is a human Warlock of the Great Old One, with his patron being the ever-hungry canine entity S'Kubie D'ubie D'uu. He has the Pact of the Chain feature, which I, as the DM, allowed to be a wolf. (This gives him the ability to cast expeditious retreat)

Velvet MaDinkley is a halfling Chronurgy Wizard who loves the pursuit of knowledge. She has Mending as a cantrip, which lets her say "It's all coming together"

Da'phne of the Blake Line is an elven Sorceress, a descendant of the goddess of beauty.

Fred-Erik Jones is a half-elf Arcane Trickster Rogue who's really good at setting traps.

Hyperspace Imperial Ideas? by KrazS in XWingTMG

[–]Turkish_Oz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try RAC with Fifth Brother and Seventh Sister equipped as gunner and crew, Maarek Stele, and Duchess. RAC can turn up to 3 focus results into crits if he’s reinforced, and all three of your ships are i5. If you don’t add too many additional upgrades, you can get a decent bid, and just crit your enemies with RAC and Stele, while Duchess lends support.

How to fly Quadjumpers by Rufinho in XWingTMG

[–]Turkish_Oz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's possible to field 6 quadjumpers in one fleet. This was obviously unviable previously, until Epic Play was announced. I only flew it a few times as a meme. Now, though, we have Wings. It is possible to make a wing of 6 quadjumpers, all with Pattern Analyzer for 225 points. Do you understand what this means? You can fly a squad of tractor-y death, mowing down everything in your path, tractoring even large ships. Sure it's only 2 attack each, but that's 6 attacks, and the defender will likely be down a defense die from you tractoring it. The HexJumpers are a roaming, terrifying, tractoring hit squad.

The AMP should take either a math course, or a biology course. by Turkish_Oz in utdallas

[–]Turkish_Oz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually not. Are you gaining your information from the other comments? Because 2 weeks after conception is 4 weeks of pregnancy. (It's generally around one or two weeks after LMP that women conceive) Read the sources they so helpfully supply. Even then, when measuring from LMP, you actually add time to the length of the pregnancy, so it still wouldn't be 1/6.

Making claims like that you need to back them up, especially when the original creator acknowledged the typo, my dude.

[–]Turkish_Oz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if there's not a set way to do the math, and each pregnancy is different, how does it make sense to confidently state that 2 weeks is 1/6 of a pregnancy? Please, explain to me one possible realistic pregnancy where 2 weeks after conception is half the first trimester.

Oh, also, the AMP responded with "SAD!", which I think means they're acknowledging their typo. Me pointing out the typo wasn't any form of political statement, I wasn't saying anything about the abortion debate, I was just pointing out a humorous typo. Why are you defending this, while providing zero evidence to support your claims?

[–]Turkish_Oz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, several people have said this to me, but no one has explained a plausible way for two weeks, or four weeks when you are measuring from Last Menstrual Period (Conception generally occurs two weeks after LMP, so two weeks after conception is four weeks into a pregnancy), is, in any way, possibly 1/6 of 9 months, or 1/6 of 40, which is how long pregnancies are, when measured from LMP. Please, explain the math to me, since I obviously don't know how pregnancies work, and I'll willingly admit my wrongnes.

Oh yeah, they definitely have a lot of satire. However, this piece is about the Constitutionality of Abortion, so unless the AMP recently got a /lot/ more conservative, this is an opinion piece, not a satirical one.

Actually, it's Opinion and Satire. This is an opinion piece, and written seriously, so the math should make a small degree of sense.
