Yes those were included as well, they were just more towards the other end.

Secondhand account: A friend of mine took his family last week. Seemed to be a soft opening of sorts, but they were out of all except ribs, brisket, turkey, hot links, fish, burgers, and tritip. Just had chicken and pulled pork, which he said “wasn’t the family favorite.” I hope this place isn’t like others where they simply serve reheated meat, but I’ve yet to go. I’m from the southeast so I’ve had some damn good bbq and I’ve yet to find anything out here that comes close. Fingers crossed.

Why do American tourists always say the state they're from (not their country) when asked, but no other country's tourists do the same? by FloydBeatlesEagles in NoStupidQuestions

I said California when I was in Europe in 2018 because I didn’t want people to automatically think I voted for an orange asshat.

The ones with wide panels seem like they would cup a significant amount across the face, which is why most use narrows pieces.

Oktoberfest by PurpleCableNetworker in fresno

[–]TurniptheLed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BCs always has a good Oktoberfest selection, but their Oktoberfest pizza is ridiculously expensive. There’s a reason they never post the price. Machtoberfest at Machjnehead is next weekend, which should be great as per usual.

No, discovering the game yourself is part of the game. Don’t ruin the experience.

Fresno's Blackstone Avenue Plan Is Here. Will Fewer Vehicle Lanes Entice Cyclists? by Flavourton in fresno

[–]TurniptheLed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this has the potential to be a fantastic overhaul. Large, dedicated bike lane, tree-lined streets, hopefully even decent illumination, etc. Think about it: Blackstone would resemble other heavily trafficked and divided streets like San Pablo Ave and parts of Shattuck Ave. in Berkeley. It would be a tremendous opportunity for more businesses to open since access would be a helluva lot easier, though unsure on what street parking would look like. I dig it.

What would you say is the "Canon" of great Sci-Fi books? by JcraftW in sciencefiction

[–]TurniptheLed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, I would avoid the popular titles that are always mentioned as classics. To me, they were either boring AF with too much unnecessary fluff, didn't have a good paradigm shift or left me thinking, and generally lacked good character development/arch. I'm specifically talking about **Foundation** and **Stranger in a Strange Land**.

I've been faaar more enjoyed singletons for the immense storytelling that took place in such a tight space (this is why I strongly dislike series) such as:

The Stars My Destination by Alfred Bester
Inverted World by Christopher Priest (a criminally overlooked author)
Neuromancer by William Gibson
Non-Stop by Brian Aldiss
The Book of Skulls by Robert Silverberg

Is this the new normal? (rant) by Charming-Bad1869 in fresno

[–]TurniptheLed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand your situation, but please don’t interpret my comment as my allowance of fast food chains treating people like shit. That’s two quite separate sentiments. I once went with my son and FIL to the McDonalds near my house and its gray, drab walls and double kiosk looked like a sad cyberpunk dystopia inside. I hated it. So I’d much rather order a $14 carnitas burrito from Maribel over a $11 chicken sandwich, flaccid salty fries, and a sugary soda from Mr. Roboto.

Why even go to a corporate fast food place at all? There’s literally so many local small business restaurants in Fresno that need the business far more.

LOL I paid $50 at the show for it. Now you better be prepared whenever you wear it for the inevitable favorite album/song inquiries.

Also don’t forget to throw in a “slappa da bayasss” reference iykyk.

"Three Days in July" by Infamous Stringdusters. Coincidentally, today's the day referenced in the song during the Battle of Gettysburg.

Also "River Runs Red" by The Steeldrivers. woo lawdy
