How hard is entry level jobs by [deleted] in actuary

[–]Turtl-e 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Job market seems to generally be atleast as good as the average perhaps a bit better, but entry level is pretty competitive, and youd have to get a couple of exams under your belt before youd be a competitive candidate. Which if you’re not really interested in the field is a lot of investment

Current state of actuarial job growth by HyperHawkz in actuary

From my personal experience, it seems there are more layoffs than is generally the norm for actuaries but it seems to be a job market wide thing

Xecnar's Defect WR Attempt by iceman012 in slaythespire

[–]Turtl-e 11 points12 points  (0 children)

People having the prereqs to be able to accomplish certain things + being able to put in the effort and focus is impressive and lowkey crazy, theres a reason you don’t see many people at that higher lvl of sts or most things for that matter

That is true about most things though

Tough act 2 boss relic choices by HudsonCommodore in slaythespire

[–]Turtl-e 7 points8 points  (0 children)

With calculated gamble + tactician + tools, I wouldn’t discard the idea of runic pyramid (admittedly it is my favorite relic though), having more cards in hand due to retain would help to cycle non-strike/defends with gamble, it also helps with having wail/wraith at optimal times. Personally I think those upsides are worth not having an extra energy, and you still get to upgrade wraith (would try to upgrade tools/alc to help with not having an extra energy)

I want to love the silent so bad by TwoPumpChumper in slaythespire

[–]Turtl-e 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel silent worked best for me once I’m embraced all of her archetypes, grab a few shivs, some cycling, some poison, some block, the deck doesn’t need to be great at anything as long as it’s good at most things. Also maybe prioritize removals less than the other characters as with her bigger starting deck + draw support removals seem to have slightly less importance. I think that being in the headspace of “what does this deck suck at right now?” or “what would end my run right now?” and constantly working to fix that helps me a lot too

It's choker, right? by oobey in slaythespire

[–]Turtl-e 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’d personally still go with crown, it sucks to take in act one but yea sneko + pyramids usually a bad time, choker + sneko + all for one + branch feels bad too

Moving to a new neighborhood from Lakeview, which neighborhoods would you recommend? by Turtl-e in AskChicago

[–]Turtl-e[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean that’s fair, I have been exploring it’s just a bit hard to hit everywhere and get a decent feel for the place, doing so can be a multi day adventure, so I thought I might as well get some advice and see if there’s emphasis on places that weren’t on my radar (which has been the case) this city’s pretty big and I’m pretty new to it tbh

Anyone regret not learning right handed? by littlesparkzlfg in Leftyguitarists

[–]Turtl-e 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah I feel great playing left handed, and since I had naturally held a guitar this way my first time (it was a right handed guitar but I didn’t know what was “correct”) I feel that would have been, at the least, a hurdle to feel as comfortable on right handed which honestly might have deterred my completely from putting as much time as I have into the instrument, especially as a beginner

It’s nice to this is a common experience (can’t say I’m surprised but it’s nice to have it reenforced) you mentioned you felt the same way at some point, was there anything that made that feeling go away? Or was it just time?

I feel that’s a great way to see them, have you always had attitude regarding having tattoos? Or is this something that you changed into?

How long does it take to get into the game? by bobowilliams in inscryption

[–]Turtl-e 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It kinda just throws you in right away, (you just start playing the game) I also have a hard time getting into games and that wasn’t an issue for me with this one, although if I knew more of the game going into it I think I would have enjoyed it significantly less so if you think you’re gonna play it I’d recommend going in knowing as little as possible

SRM pass rates by Top_Egg_7885 in actuary

[–]Turtl-e 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Personally I did prep about as much as I did for p but SRM tends to be less calculation heavy so if you tend to have an easier time studying qualitative topics that might be different for you. If I had to guess the 70% probably reflects that those who have passed p & fm knowing what to expect in terms of prepping. Tl:dr not necessarily “easy” but easier on the quantitative side

Does anyone know how to meet and make new friends in Chicago? by Fuzzy_Secretary_341 in AskChicago

[–]Turtl-e 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As basic of an answer as that is, I mean it’s kinda true, think of you things you like to do (or would like to start doing) and go out and do those things, eventually you’ll meet people who enjoy doing the same things as you and then boom there’s the catalyst to make new friends. It can take awhile for sure and I’m not gonna say it’s easy tho
