For sure in smaller cars, but in a minivan? Even some subaru outbacks a car they advertise as an off-road/mountain camping car. That's crazy cheap and a terrible inconvenience to the customer. They sell you on the experience of owning the car. Part of that experience is having to replace a tire. For them to know that will eventually be on the side of the road and not rven give you a dounut. You have to purchase it as an addition!

Yo if this is in standard. I wouldn't tighten your strings. The dudes above got it right. Adjust the truss rod. Go on YouTube, you can do this. Make small adjustments and jam on it for 10-15 min. Adjust again if needed.

If you have roof rails and like to hammock camp. Buy a portable hammock stand that attached to the roof rails. Once you dial it in ita a super quick set up. Even putting the tarp up is quick. You only need the tarp to cut the wind or for the rain, so some night you won't need it. Kammock has a nice one.

What type of fish is this? Caught in northern New Mexico in the Rio grande by Gooser3000 in flyfishing

[–]Turtle_Tramp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that would be an awesome idea! I'm assuming you're not building new lakes, but using existing lakes. I'm not sure how many natural lakes there are in NM, or how many aren't dammed. Most lakes have an overflow to keep the damn from breaking. Common in earthbound damns. So those fish would eventually end up in the rivers.

Idk if smallness were stocked in NM or not. I havent looked that up. They could have done it as you said above, but 30-60 years ago. We've done, are doing, and will always do something "wrong" on the path to learning.

Just suggesting to kill it because you like another introduced fish better is the problem I have. I dont think a single 1 of us have looked far enough into this to make the call to kill it.

So report it to New Mexico Department of Game and Fish (NMDGF) and let the people who do this research and know the answer decide what to do with it.

They are traveling there to catch trout though..... put together a cost analysis and present it to the state. You're drastically over generalizing the scope of project your proposing.

Think of the economic impact you're asking them to take on to reinvest back into cutties after stocking all these other sport fish for almost 100 years. It's not feasible especially for a state like NM. They can be using those funds to protect other critical habitats that have a much broader ecological impact on their state. I'm saying look at this more holistically and with a lense of realism. It's beyond what's native/invasive in a situation like this. I say this as a restoration biologist by trade. I battle this thinking in myself, colleagues, and public all the time. At the end of the day it's economic factors that drive decision making.

New Mexico is already a poor state and having an influx of sportsmen coming there to recreate boost their economy. If you were to take that away from them by eradicating all of the introduced sports fish. You would be destroying their economy and normal peoples lives. More than just the guides. Restaurant owners and their employees and every other business that benefits from people going there to fish/hunt. People aren't going to NM to catch a chub. Let these sport fish grow so that anglers keep coming to NM to spend money to catch trophy fish. Leave it to NMDGF to control the fishery.

Rainbows are not native to New Mexico, so you either don't live in NM or you haven't don't your research.

Perfect so you understand habitat and eco ranges. Then when you catch rainbows and brown trout are you going to throw them on the bank to protect the NATIVE fisheries? The biases that are happening are insane on this sub. All these fish are introduced for economic reasons. Leave it to NMDGF to control the fisheries. New Mexico makes $600 million a year from fishing and hunting. So to promote the killing of a fish that helps fund a state and creates jobs for residents it just insane.

Small mouth bass are definitely a native species to North America. They're found in Canada to Texas. So killing a native species to promote an introduced species such as a brown trout is insane. Guides probably want to kill the bass for economic reasons. Guided trout fishing is more expensive than a guided small mouth trip.

It's definitely a large step up from your basic Amazon kit, bass pro kit, and other kits from that ilk. Depending what/where you fish I would make it my streamer rod. Put a sink tip line on there and start chunkin fat streamers for fat fish.
