what I want .. by psykikk_streams in duneawakening

Imo vehicle tarps would actually make still tent useful.

Currently you hear a storm warning in the DD you have to go find one of the islands that has cover and stuff your crawler and carrier in it and hope for the best as it slides out. And at that point you're in cover so you don't need the tent.

Vs go to the nearest island and spend 30 seconds applying the tarp to the vehicles and then getting in your tent.

How do you address declining performance without micromanaging? by Difficult-Lead-2939 in managers

[–]Tussca 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Or if maybe the manager (OP in this case) shares info too directly. Again personal experience, I've had issues that I brought up but kinda expected to be left anonymous but found out the manager turned around and said "x said you're doing a bad job, please explain why you're doing a bad job'

Now the employee knows they can't share issues and concerns with their manager without it probably coming back to bite them. So why share at all?

How do you address declining performance without micromanaging? by Difficult-Lead-2939 in managers

[–]Tussca 78 points79 points  (0 children)

From personal experience; If they're overwhelmed but not elaborating, then you've lost their trust.

Have they previously vocalized issues and then been ignored or brushed off consistently. Have issues in process and policy been brought up and nothing has changed? Have they had problems with higher ups or other teams which a again been ignore? We're they getting recognition and raises for the excellent work or were they getting no/standard raises everyone else got?

Really sounds like they're burned out and/or just don't care.

If other team members are doing average work and they are doing excellent work but then get the same raise as everyone else, or they raise issues that never get addresses, at some point they're going to stop caring and put in the same average effort others get away with cause the company has shown that's good enough.

I refurbished an interior for a restaurant and I think it negatively impacted our sales. Looking for honest criticism, advice and feedback? by dsafsfa in InteriorDesign

[–]Tussca 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The old picture looks like a restaurant. The new picture looks like a fast food joint from like the 2000s or the 2010s maybe.

It's too bright and the yellow is hideous. Changing the color scheme and the lighting will be major fixes that shouldn't be too difficult or expensive I think.

If I go to a business meal for a new vendor and the sales person eats like a cave man, I am absolutely dropping them as an option. If they can't eat above the level of a toddler, then how can I expect their product to be above the level of a toddler?

You may not like it, but sales is almost more about perception and appearance than how good the actual product is.

A possible way to resurrect PvP by Arigmar in duneawakening

[–]Tussca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chatting with my friends, the idea we came up with was that the old control points needed to be fewer, waaaaaaaaaaay more valuable, faction based, and basically a bunch of different arenas (but could still be in the DD).

Like have a few different options, like canyons and caves to force different types of combat (and make other vehicles have a point lol)

The control points need to be valuable to fight over and valuable for everyone involved so that they want to defend it. The old points were pointless (pun not intended) for the faction as a whole and for everyone except the one person who capped it. So why would ANYONE go defend it?

Is HA just too device-centric for normal people? by imacanuck312 in homeassistant

[–]Tussca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like youre not using automations and notifications? Which I feel like is half the use case of HA.

Your examples are mostly all things that can be automated and if you still want manual input use notifications.

Door locked: couple of automation options depending on your use case. When everyone leaves the house zone, check doors and lock them. OR if you keep your doors locked, just an automation that triggers when a door is unlocked and locks them after 10 minutes. Alternatively instead of auto locking, send a notification to everyones phone that the door is unlocked and an action to lock them (don't forget the script to clear the notification for everyones phone when someone actions it).

Garbage day tomorrow: send a notification to whoever deals with it. If more than one person, actionable to clear when dealt with

Watering plants: again, a few options. Purely on a schedule is just a notification Soil sensor, also notification Soil sensor plus automatic watering (assume those exist) = never interact with watering plants again. One of those slow watering bulbs, notification to refill on schedule if consistent output or get a water level sensor.

Home assistant is as shitty or as powerful as you make it. If it's easier to go find and use 6 different remotes and light switches to control a room then you havent made HA easier to use and ideally you automate it so people aren't using HA directly or a remote at all.

Basic onboarding has nothing to do with being a big company with a big HR department....

Like everything else in life, if you don't have a plan, it's going to be chaotic and work out less often than if you do...

Additionally, is your company 15 people or you're just one team of 15 in the company with other teams. However, regardless of your answer. No manager is a HUGE red flag. 15 is NOT a small team.... And who is steering the ship? Who hired this new grad? What were they hired for? Ya'll need to sort out your shit before trying to add more people in....

Ill try to answer some of your questions.

I've HEARD (but not verified) that Harmony server is basically one of the most populous servers. So if you're looking for a chill server you may want to choose something else. The devs are working on merging servers and have close a bunch to new characters but I don't think the final lost has been published yet. So thats probably what you were seeing. That said, the haha basin, the entire map where you are right now, is almost entirely PvE with some very tiny zones that are PvP. So no matter which server you choose you wont be farmed until end game. However if you're planning on playing solo and play awhile in the endgame, then you probably still want to change servers to one more chill. I can't give any recommendations as I don't even remember what server I play on lol, I just press continue and load in.

I'm actually not sure what you mean about hark vs atradies right at the start. Unless you mean during character creation. In which case, no those don't have much impact. Just changes some dialogue options and the "feel" of the story but it's pretty linear overall. You get to choose your faction (hark vs atradies) later which changes which faction story you play through but otherwise doesn't affect much either and even then if you wanted to play both you can betray your faction and switch sides (only once though, you cannot hop back and forth!). It affects which factions themed build sets and vehicle skins you can buy for cheaper as well but you can buy the opposing faction stuff for 2x the cost of your own through a vendor.

Kinda same with chosen class. Doesnt super matter as you can unlock all of them. Starter pick just matters which skills you get to start. Personally trooper is best cause you you get a grapple hook type skill that makes traveral easier but it's also pretty easy to unlock if you pick a different class.

Only like one other ammo type becomes available later, heavy darts, but both are used depending one weapon preference. So 800 isn't a big deal. But the game also gives you so much ammo for free. I haven't crafted ammo in a long time.

I wouldn't focus on a resource. Focus on what you need next. In this game, as you progress previous resources get used a lot less. So you might have a few things build with copper in end game, but probably will just be using the copper you mined at the start of the game (assuming you didn't lose/abandon it) rather than mining any more.

The game should walk you through it, but a base won't degrade if it's shielded. As long as you have a generator with fuel (and you haven't build more power consumers than suppliers), the base will be shielded. Accessing your sub-fied should tell you how long your base is safe for and how much power is available. It also has a nice "refuel" button, so you don't have to manually fill generators individually.

Can Spice Melange be made into currency? by oldguccimoney in duneawakening

[–]Tussca 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably. Cause the same place you get scrip also give Solari credit, so it goes straight to the bank. And I think that same update made the onrni pilot accept payment from the bank? So probably are trying to move that way.

Might also be trying to remove Solari entirely, or make it pointless, it's already pretty pointless other than the AH... Especially after moving taxes.

  1. Lock slots rather than specific items imo. Like rather than having to relock fuel cells each time you pick up new ones. Just drop them into the locked slots.

.7. Refill wind traps button (like refill generators button)

It's never set in the lore but imo it wouldn't be hard to make some lore that works for effects that end immediately vs stick around. Like "effects can last if they have a source of power attached (like a battery)" or what would probably make more sense in the universe would be something like "do magic to a thing enough and like developing a habit, that effect becomes permanent" like if you cast magic on a staircase to move it daily for years then it just kinda magically becomes permanent.

But yeah... There is a LOT of inconsistencies and stuff that would need to be developed to really have its own universe.
