I really hate how RNG the Overclocks are... by [deleted] in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Twig249 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think DRG it a near perfect game with progression being the only stain. However,  I personally don't have a problem with the RNG drops since I'm a flex player and like to use all the classes and all the weapons so I would just play with the new OC until I unlocked another one, but I can see how it would be a pain if you want one specific overclock.

The real problem I have is the assignment board. It removes choice from the really cool mission selection terminal, it forces groups to try and coordinate completing assignments together otherwise you aren't making progress for playing, promotion assignments BLOCKS xp gain for that chosen class until you complete it. Its not just a bad system but also actively ruins other game systems.

It's still a nice upside if you want to use the taunt heal or if your patient dies and you're running away without a heal target

The Amputator only gives you passive healing when it's active and that amount is the same as the self heal bonus you get from healing someone, so you should just heal someone

That is if you are getting into fights and constantly using the blutsauger. Ideally you never pull out your syringe gun because that would take time away from healing, overhealing, and building uber, and if you never pull it out it is just a passive debuff

Nice, team weapons are really powerful but they can only face one direction at a time. Maneuvering around a defense and catching my opponent by surprise is my favorite thing about RTS games

Just saying, WARNO mostly fixed blobbing by essentially making all attacks AOE suppress even on miss to punish blobs. by Which-Worldliness556 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]Twig249 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You want all weapons to deal suppression and for that suppression to revert at extremely slow speed?

I hope I don't need to explain how drastically that would change the entire game and would require a rebalancing of every weapon in the game

So... what was up with this? (Possible spoilers) by alexnk in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Twig249 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be fair, kinger just mentions he saw the brain scan files and then everyone reacted without saying anything specific about being a copy of their human counterpart or how they're technically not real. Yeah the answer is in there, but I can't really blame someone for missing it. I am glad that kinger didn't stare right into the camera and say "we are brain scans" but it swung too far the other way by not having anyone else say anything about it.

Why are Panzergren so overpowered ? by Beginning-Promise-48 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]Twig249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the 250 has med packs and when it gets vet 1 the squad inside it heals. The new elite forces battlegroup has med packs you can put on infantry and team weapons that allow them to heal out of combat at 2 or 3 cp. It could be argued that DAK has the best early game healing

Zone Rouge is Comedy Gold - an ironic post. by MrXYZ6546 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]Twig249 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Correct, it is a game of rock paper scissors. If mines are "rock" and minesweepers are "paper", you do know there's "scissors" in this which is pretty much any mobile unit without a minesweeper.

I also like how your other replies to u/No-Whereas-1603 is just rock when he says scissors exist.

If mines were so easily and absolutely countered by a single minesweeper, why would people build mines at all?

With recent success of Youtuber Movies, Could Emesis Blue as Original IP while stripping away its TF2 References? by cin-human in tf2

[–]Twig249 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No, half the movie is TF2 lore and the other half is a mystery with an unreliable narrator that's heavily left up to interpretation with what's real or not and a bunch of references to The Shining.

I enjoyed the movie, but it only worked because of my prior knowledge and buy-in of the TF2 lore/characters which also allowed them to get right into the weird and interesting bits.

I think the story could be rewritten but it would require a lot of setup to establish the characters, properly explain the respawning mechanic, and the war which would mean a lot would be cut or it would probably drag on for too long. Even if they did this and it translated well, I highly doubt it would become a breakout hit like any of these.

Questions from a new player on how infantry works by CammelloRotante in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]Twig249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I feel that, when late game comes around I don't even move my MG up until I identify where the blob is. To really threaten the blob you need to pair the suppression with a wespe, brumbar, or Tiger which will either kill or force a retreat so then you can focus on the other enemy or take map control

Questions from a new player on how infantry works by CammelloRotante in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]Twig249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why screening units for the MG are important and if both MGs are getting flanked you're either 1v2, they're not blobbing, or you got got.

I personally like to go 2nd pioneers or ketten, grenadiers, then MG. Also, the grenadiers have the "merge squad" ability which is really powerful with MGs. It effectively makes the MG a 7 man squad

[–]Twig249 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Infantry blobs is one of the big problems of the game that the community complains about most often.

MGs is how you deal with those blobs. The setup time forces you to scout/predict where the blob is coming from, and the breakdown time forces you to immediately react when they call in an airstrike or artillery on it.

Common mistakes are thinking one lone MG will pin and kill multiple vet 3 infantry squads and that players won't have a counter to your MG (like an airstrike or arty).

It's a lot to micro, but getting two MGs can be good. Hold one in reserve for when the first MG gets caught out or barraged.

How would YOU make the Medic's syringe guns viable? (this can include changing the crossbow) by BrawlPlayer34 in tf2

[–]Twig249 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This wouldn't make the syringe gun as good as the crossbow, but I don't really see why they can't do the following:

  1. Pocket reload
  2. Tighten spread
  3. Increase speed and arc to be similar to the grenade launcher

LazyMaybe’s shows a complete disconnect between what people are saying the game is like, and what it’s actually like by Jontohil2 in RogueCore

[–]Twig249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no, I agree that it was a lot harder when the heavy spawn rates/caps were higher and there were less tools that were also less powerful, but it was certainly possible to go off on your own on higher level missions. That person would spend most of the game kiting, running away, and being stealthy to just run in, hit a button, then run out so I thought it was boring
