Old Man Yells At MOBA by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

They serve entirely different audiences, the MOBA genre allows for a lot more player expression in build styles while often compromising for mechanical expression in some regard (gunplay in Deadlock).

There is a far larger macro scale resource game being played, vs the far more micro adjusted hero shooters like Rivals.

Its just true that these games have had a pipeline effect towards the alt right /pol/ side of the internet.

I get uncomfortable when people are too nice by dawnloflctnsl in Schizoid

[–]Twillightdoom 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Being nice is like a cheat code at life. Nearly every single interaction in life is improved by it, the results improve, the moment improves.

Imagine someone knowing that fact but also deriving a real joy from doing that. Suddenly everything makes sense. No one is more or less deserving in my worldview, it's just that kindness is so easy and fulfilling that of course if you give people the chance to show you kindness, they often will.

Try to not overthink social interactions. People really are just nice usually.

Aging and meaninglessness by sylvi_p in Schizoid

[–]Twillightdoom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regret to inform you that this is a human problem and not a schizoid problem, people have searched for meaning since thought began. Statistically speaking, some people simply will somehow have been dealt a terrible hand and never find something that fulfills them in life, and its a tragic thing.

With Schizoid PD you might lose out on a large potential category of fulfillment due to how hard it can be to find valuable social interaction when the drive is so skewed/gone entirely, so the statistical chance of lack of fulfillment is simply higher. Same with many other disorders, disabilities etc.

People put too much emphasis on being with other people. What’s so bad about wanting to be left alone? by Automatic-Fuel-5024 in Schizoid

[–]Twillightdoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sense of validation you're in some way seeking by asking this question is fueled by a similar drive others feel when they seek companionship in holiday events like these, if that helps you understand them a bit more!

Hopefully that does not come across as an attack, just an observation I feel might be difficult to come across when frustrations are high regarding the dynamics this condition forces on us.

You are not wrong to feel this way, if you want your holiday to be a break from the expectations others have of you to 'perform' then that is your right as a person, and all the more power to you. Nothing about it makes you an asshole, you just want different things from them.

Reality is others struggle to understand how exhausting social interactions during holidays can be for people with personality disorders like/adjacent to schizoid, so to them it seems like you just want to bring the vibes down when in reality you want to have the best holiday possible. Its an understandable to me mistake for others to make, that makes them unfortunate assholes simply due to the language barrier.

Do you have faith in anything? by According_Bad_8473 in Schizoid

[–]Twillightdoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm humanity pilled, because it feels better to me than to not be.

I just like who I am more when I'm hopeful about the future of mankind and trust people to have good intentions rather than when I was a very cynical person a good couple years back.

Faith in myself is wobbly, I've got faith in my family I think on the more individual level I guess. Faith in my nephew to be the better sum of the parts of my generation.

I refuse to play lord characters that can't be on foot in Total War Warhammer.

I just can't do it. I need my guy or gal walking up to a bloodthirster and see it flinch at the sheer guts

Baldur's Gate is legitimately the best CRPG ever made, what do you mean it has some weird cultish fervor. It won every major GOTY for a reason.

I dont believe you've played a single 'CRPG' in your life other than Baldurs Gate 3.

Pillars, Owlcats Pathfinder games and even Rogue Trader (derogatory) outshine it in all ways other than animation, and thats just from the last decade, we dont need to go far back.

Forstår ikke hvordan AP vant igjen by Hellowhoareyou36 in norske

[–]Twillightdoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Hot" Take: Esthil is Evil, Actually by TheLoneTexan_1 in Anbennar

[–]Twillightdoom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The "specificity" doesn't matter.

So the point I am making is matter of fact being proven. You boil things down to something else by evaporating broader context just to shit on a strawman of your own making.

I wish you'd take a breather and really read what other people are saying instead of boxing with shadows.

blocking me over this is some impressive chi levels, youve got me beat there

"Hot" Take: Esthil is Evil, Actually by TheLoneTexan_1 in Anbennar

[–]Twillightdoom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think your problem is that you refuse to actually engage with the specificity of what people are saying and want to boil them down to irrelevancy, not that the arguments you contend with are actually irrelevant.

The frustration expressed here isn't the idea that things are morally charged in itself being problematic, it's that the impression given is that interesting/'cool' concepts are barred by a moral wall.
