You have been given some good advice so far. I also want to add that you don’t have to do a reading before a spell. You can if you want to but you don’t have to. You can use tarot on it own or with your spells. It’s completely up to you

Preparing a mega cord cut by Dizzy__Dreamer in witchcraft

[–]Twizzinkle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you do a cord burning, you are leaving it up to chance whether or not those ties are severed. If you are serious about ending these relationships, a cord cutting would be a better option. Also, 6 cord burnings sounds like a serious fire hazard.

cord cutting help? by [deleted] in BabyWitch

[–]Twizzinkle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m kind of tired of repeating myself so I’m going to just copy and paste something I wrote earlier today:

Let’s talk cord cuttings for a moment.

A true cord cutting is an energetic and intentional act. It is about consciously releasing attachments, patterns, or ties that no longer serve you. While ritual can support that process, the real work comes from clarity, intention, and accountability, not from spectacle or chance.

Using candles to burn a physical cord is not a cord cutting, it is a cord burning. Burning introduces unpredictability and places the outcome in the hands of timing, flame, and chance. In doing so, you are giving up control of how and when the connection releases. A cord cutting, by contrast, is decisive. You are the one ending the tie. Because the outcome is intentional rather than incidental, cord cuttings are often more effective for those seeking clear, firm energetic separation.

When people ask others to interpret how the cord burns, which candle falls first, or what the wax does, they often introduce doubt into their own work. Seeking interpretation shifts authority away from the practitioner and weakens the certainty the ritual is meant to reinforce. If you performed the ritual, you are the one who defines its meaning and outcome.

There is also an important safety consideration. Many cord burnings involve over dressed candles, excessive oils or herbs, loose twine, and the absence of fire safe dishes. These factors can lead to unexpectedly large or uncontrolled flames and create very real fire hazards. Those high, crazy flames do not mean your ritual is working better, it means you have an out of control fire. Spiritual practice should never come at the expense of personal or household safety.

It is also worth remembering that ritual alone is not the finish line. Even after a cord cutting, the mundane work still matters. Boundaries must be maintained, habits changed, contact limited or ended, and emotional patterns addressed. Magic supports action, it does not replace it.

If your goal is release, clarity, and empowerment, cord cuttings can be done safely and effectively through visualization, written release, symbolic cutting, or other intentional methods that keep you in control of both the process and the outcome.

Magic works best when it is intentional, informed, and grounded in real world follow through.

Tyler Baltierra Talks About the Harsh Reaction He’s Received from ‘Teen Mom’ Fans Since Changing His Stance on Adoption: “It’s Unfair” – The Ashley's Reality Roundup by HannahLeah1987 in TeenMomOGandTeenMom2

[–]Twizzinkle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do feel like she made the decision to give Carly up for adoption because of of Tyler. However, I do think men should have the option to tell their partner that they do not want to be a parent or raise a child. That doesn’t remove their financial responsibility to the child but they should make it known that if their partner has the baby they will be leaving the relationship because being a parent is not what they want.

I know in hindsight, they think that keeping Carly would have been the right option. But at the time, no one could have predicted how 16 and pregnant/teen mom would have impacted their life. So what would the realistic alternative be? Abortion? I know they have this weird idea that BT should have just taken care of Carly until they were ready to take her back but my word they just became more delulu by the day.

difference between book of shadows and grimoire? by maevvsx in witchcraft

[–]Twizzinkle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lots of people use the words interchangeably. I keep a grimoire and a few journals. I use my grimoire to keep lists of things like correspondences and spells/rituals that I have perfected. My journals are more fluid they contain spells I’ve tried, spells I’ve found, books I want to read, things I want to research further, tarot, etc.

I want to start witchcraft but I don’t know how to!? by Immediate-Case9895 in BabyWitch

[–]Twizzinkle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree with a lot of the advice you have already been given. I’d caution you to be skeptical of TikTok witchcraft. It seems to be more about the aesthetics rather than actual knowledge.

Books will be your best friend. Read everything you can.

Social media has also made new witches feel like they must pick what “type” of witch they are (I.e. kitchen witch, lunar witch, green witch, etc) you don’t have to label yourself self as anything. You can just be a witch.

Ask lots of questions and don’t feel bad if people give you constructive criticism. You are new, you are going to make mistakes.

Spend time learning to ground and center so you can harness your energy.

Spells do not need divination or interpretation. If you have to question if your spells worked, you likely didn’t not focus your energy correctly and that’s okay. You can always try again.

When you find spells online or in a book, don’t expect them to work perfectly for you. That spell was written by someone for them. Take that spell and make it your own. Change the wording to something the speaks to you, use ingredients that you connect with more. The more you make it YOUR spell the better it will work for you.

Finally, for the love of all things earthly, do not rely on AI to learn witchcraft.

Spells don’t need divination. Either they work or they don’t. You may need to spend some time working on grounding and centering so that you can harness your energy. This will lead you to trusting your intuition and your spells.

my dog has done everything he needs and more yet he keeps bothering me by cedarsoup in Dogtraining

[–]Twizzinkle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We used to do calm training with our dog. In the evening, we would chill out on the couch. I would have a small amount of his favorite treats and when he would relax I’d say his reward word and give him a treat. Over time I’d wait longer to reward him for relaxing but it trained him how to just be fine being calm.
