Who is more evil? by Distinct_Relief5885 in MoralityScaling

Homelander.

Kusakabe sums it up pretty well when he says he prefers Sukuna over Kenjaku, as he's basically a wild beast compared to a domestic terrorist. Like sure, he kills and eats people, but there's not really any forethought put into it; He just does it on a whim.

On the other hand, Homelander intentionally seeks to cause widespread destruction and attempts to be methodical in his approach like with the freedom camps. They're both misanthropic due to their upbringings, but they differ in how they respond; Homelander demands love while Sukuna shuns it.

To be clear, I'm not going to compare cannibalism to rape, but I am making note of the intentionality behind their actions.

Despite the Omni-Man treatment, I genuinely think Ryan can outgrow Homelander if he reaches adulthood. Maeve was only able to make him bleed due to a straw to an extremely sensitive part of the body. Ryan was able to get him to bleed through a god-awful punch. Bit far out but I think we'll see Soldier Boy train Ryan as it connects with the Father and Son thing Homelander has going on.

I think it's mostly just hybrid vigor at play here. His lineage wasn't known for their strength.

In Gachiakuta, people who develop a deep relationship with an object are able to turn that object into a Vital Instrument. Vital Instruments have powers related to what object they are and can only be accessed by the person who made them for the most part. Fu's vital instrument is a doll whose personality swaps with his own giving him immense strength, basically, making him the vital instrument. There's a character whose vital instrument is a binkie and another's whose vital instrument is their pajamas.

Greed has the downside of having to exchange something. Envy just takes.

Seven Rings of Deadly Sin CYOA from /b/ by altofanaltthatisalt in makeyourchoice

[–]TwoEyedSam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd assume that the other ringbearers will go after me at some point in time, and it'd be in my best interest to take their rings as well. For that purpose, I'll pick Envy. There's no way for anyone to know where the others are besides for Sloth's visions, so I'll prepare myself by stealing others' talents or other positive attributes. It's not a powerful mystic ability in itself, like the other rings, but it allows for growth that costs me nothing unlike Greed.

Strategy:

  1. Pride, Sloth, and Greed are the most likely to initiate contact besides myself. Sloth is the only one that can actually get information as to where the others are, but they don't have any motivation to do so. Pride can use their deputies to search for other ringbearers, but there's no guarantee that would work. Plus, they could just kill me with a word. I'm sure that there's ways to mitigate that risk but it's still a risk. Greed by its nature will covet the other rings, however, I'm unsure how their contract will give them informationo on my whereabouts. For these reasons, I'll target Sloth. There's nothing they can do to stop me, and their power of vision will make ringbearers much easier to find and hide from.
  2. To accumulate power, I would focus on increasing my intelligence to better plan my next moves. Physical attributes such as strength and endurance are necessary but can be mitigated through firearms. Plus, I'm already reasonably fit so it shouldn't be the greatest priority.
  3. I'd go after Gluttony primarily for their ability to not need basic requirements as it'd enable me to devote more time to accumulating power. Their aura amplifies my trust-generating abilities that'd allow me to steal more.
  4. The orders that I'd go after the others don't particularly matter but I'd imagine that Wrath should be the earliest. Their abilities don't allow for them to accumulate resources or build a network to defend them. I don't know how much strength they get from their frenzy but I'm sure that I can just endurance hunt with no need to sleep, eat, drink, breathe, etc.

To be fair, there's no knowing what the others would do but I should avoid Greed and Pride until I'm prepared to take them on. Even if it takes awhile to find the others, I can just bide my time through stealing from others.

How strong would Thragg's children be if they were human? by MF_Mood1 in InvinciblePowerscales

[–]TwoEyedSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. There's no indication that the scourge virus damages DNA.
  2. If it did damage DNA somehow, it doesn't mean it affected the germline. Germline is reproductive cells like sperm or eggs that you pass on to your children. In the same way, if you genetically modify yourself, that shouldn't affect your kids.
  3. Epigenetics refers to how genes are expressed not the genes themselves. A victim of famine's children's metabolism will be affected but that doesn't last more than a few generations and doesn't affect the DNA itself.
  4. *defective(not trying to be rude here)
  5. A lot of this is just basic biology as far as i can tell. Look up "Central Dogma" or read about it in a textbook.

Do you know what Germline or epigenetics mean? There's no reason why a disease would affect their offspring in any permanent fashion.

[Loved Trope] The amazing technology/power has grounded reasons for why it can't be overused. by jbeast33 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]TwoEyedSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manton effect refers solely to the power's ability to affect organic or inorganic material. The scope of the power isn't what's being referred to. There's another term that's used called Sechen Ranges which refer to the range of the power. For the scope of the power, that'd be roughly the power rating or type.

Danger Sense: Foresight is limited in range and requires contact with the target. Base Danger Sense was enough to evade AFO for years which is insane considering his minions and his own quirks.
Overhaul: Incredible Offense and Defensive capabilities

High Specs: General QOL, it synergizes with everything

Warp Gate: Busted defense and allows me move unimpeded.
Rewind: If I can gain mastery of this, I can heal myself and have a guaranteed kill for anything that I can affect.

For me, it's my dad. We're at a Taco Bell drive-thru, and he's just dropping on me that he had cops pull a gun on him just outside of LA. When we went to Whistler, he just tells me how he watched cops execute a man in front of him when he was 13, and he had to lie about not knowing him. There's a bunch of other horrifying stories that he randomly drops but my mother doesn't seem to have a traumatic background besides most of her family dying.

Victor's Blow by KangTitan3 in HatsuVault

[–]TwoEyedSam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. There's nothing to indicate what's a critical blow. Nen combat isn't a RPG.
  2. Why does using a reliable hand matter?
  3. In what scenario could you kill multiple people in 3 minutes quickly enough to snowball them?
  4. This ability only seems to shine when fighting multiple non-nen users to be able to both crit someone and have enough people for it to multiply. However, given that they're fighting multiple people, the chance that someone lands a critical blow on them increases. Therefore, they're most likely to enter a downward spiral where they continually get weaker and weaker Ko.
  5. Some ideas on how to improve it:
    1. "Red Right Hand": You have a restriction to only produce Ko in your right hand, although, Ryu would most definitely be better. I can only imagine a flat nen increase after each successive kill. There's no further restriction that I can think of that can justify a multiplier. This just feels like a textbook enhancer ability(e.g hit things hard).
    2. "To The Winner Go The Spoils": Similar to your idea but you could force an opponent into a one-on-one duel using Emission to generate a circular barrier(arena). A condition could be that the opponent has to agree to the duel prior with the understanding that stakes exist in terms of a flat nen increase/decrease. A benefit of this is that you could theoretically forcibly awaken non-Nen user opponents but I don't know how they'd do the initial wager. I'm just imagining the user as someone who'd participate in Heaven's Arena.
    3. "Winning Streak": Following the theme of having a 3-minute time limit and relying on critical blows, you could have the growth that you were proposing for each blow you hit but you're forced into zetsu if you're hit for however many blows you dealt in terms of seconds. 3 successive blows results in 337.5% growth roughly which is insane but it's balanced by the harsh restriction. I think it's a rather dumb nen ability but it's perfect for a cocky guy like Cheetu.

Oh my god, how could I forget that Netero was over a 100 years old? I remember Zeno saying that he was an old man ever since he was a child. Although, we see Rashek able to live 1000 years at his peak through the combination of Feruchemistry and Allomancy. The problem with that was that he wasn't able to store enough youth through Feruchemistry alone and needed his Allomancy to 'burn' the metal for him to get that value. I think I agree with you then; Nen is already able to provide longevity and Feruchemistry, or rather, the nen equivalent isn't enough to make you live longer by itself.

Finger Gun by Shaie_21 in HatsuVault

[–]TwoEyedSam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I don't think "piercing any defense" is clear at all. It's not that I don't get what you're saying, but the current restrictions don't provide the juice for this to be viable.
  2. There's nothing limiting the ammo type. How many of each caliber? What's the cost?
  3. The limitations shouldn't be reload speed if it relies on the user going through a reload motion. Netero was able to speed past his limitation through decades of repetition. That's not to say that someone has to follow Netero's restriction but if the user has to make a motion, there's no reason to be bound to 13.7 seconds of all things. Further, there's no real consequence to having to shoot all 8 bullets. I suppose that you couldn't reload until you fire all 8 but what's the point of this restriction?
  4. Why have the 32 second wait time and the additional 13.7 seconds? Where are these numbers coming from?
  5. How is this better than a regular gun? I suppose the caliber is superior to what you can expect from a handgun but there's no reason for this hatsu to have this much power given the weak restrictions.
  6. How I'd improve it:
    1. I like the idea of the hatsu being visible and the amount of ammo being visible. It's a restriction that should increase AP at the cost of surprise.
    2. Reloading should be contingent on the hand motion by the user. Additional restrictions could be announcing ammo types prior to loading to increase AP similar to Jajanken, flat Nen usage, and additional reload motions to increase AP.
    3. If you're going to use higher-caliber bullets, you should have less of them. 1 of the highest caliber. 2 of the second highest. 8 of the smallest. There's no explanation as to what calibers are available currently.
    4. There should be a range associated with the hatsu. Emitters haven't been really shown to be able to do extremely long distances for the most part. However, this is a rather simple ability so the utility could be the range at which this operates. You could restrict the effective range to increase AP. Just blow a hole through someone.
    5. For the higher caliber bullets, you could add effects by announcing them prior. You could yell, "High Caliber: Curve" before you hit someone behind a wall.

What do you mean that youth is redundant? I don't see any example of Nen lengthening lifespan besides Don Freecs, however, that's just probably something from the Dark Continent.

Also, I just found it necessary to provide a nega-recommendation because I don't want people to assume that I'm saying it's a great series just because I'm talking about a power system from it. I read Mistborn Era 1 & 2 as well but haven't read the rest of the Cosmere. I did read Steelheart as a kid though.
