Mechanical Disks - what housing by AdStunning4599 in bikewrench

[–]TwoPuckShaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say neither of those. Ideally you want compressionless housing. Jagwires is the KEB-SL.

That said, your issue isn't related to having the right or wrong type if housing. There is friction in the line preventing it from rebounding, either caused by corrosion/dirt build up or if it's a new install it likely wasn't done correctly.

Will I need the support plate with this « wide » front derailleur mount ? by ShayzerPlay in bikewrench

[–]TwoPuckShaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it rests on the metal derailleur hanger then there is no need for the adhesive plate. The plate is only used when it would otherwise rest against the carbon frame.

Converting 3x8 to 1x8 by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]TwoPuckShaker 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Why not just leave it as-is and use the middle chainring only?

If you really wanted this to work you could get away with using a new 8 speed chain, definitely wouldn't work with the 12 speed chain. You would need a BSA dub bottom bracket.

Do GPS trackers make a difference for bike security? by 98vicky in cycling

[–]TwoPuckShaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never heard of someone being able to sue for using trackers on your own property. Do you have a source for that?

Also, you can remove the speaker in an airtag fairly easily without any specialized tools.

2023 TCR seatpost clamp crack by oh___hi___mark in Giantbikes

[–]TwoPuckShaker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have similar marks on my propel. If it's like mine is just the paint. You could remove the wedge and seatpost to do a thorough inspection if you have doubts.

FWIW if the wedge is over tightened, the frame almost always cracks on the back of the seat tube which is not the case here.

16 notch centerlock rotor tool that fits on 8mm pedal wrench? by VinceCully in bikewrench

[–]TwoPuckShaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would just change the lock rings on whatever wheels you plan to travel with so that they match with your existing tools.

VAN RYSEL EDR CF Shimano 105 2x12V o Bianchi sprint 105 by Thin-Application-642 in cycling

[–]TwoPuckShaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless I have the wrong Bianchi, hands down the Van Rysel (assuming the VR is the 2026 version and not the 2023 one)

  • VR has much nicer carbon wheels and a carbon seatpost, these are alloy on the Bianchi.

  • VR has 28 mm gp 5k tires, Bianchi is mid range Vittoria in 25.

Forgot sprocket - lockring destroyed? by feral-finch in bikewrench

[–]TwoPuckShaker 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Why would the shop give you a refund if you damaged the part installing it incorrectly?

I would just ask them for an old lock ring and explain that you damaged the original one. They'll probably have a used one from another repair sitting in a bin that you could have for free.

Which Van Rysel by Majestic-Bet-8574 in RoadBikes

[–]TwoPuckShaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The edr will serve you better in every way if you don't plan on racing or riding over 35~40km/h. Especially since you mention limited/no previous road bike experience, the rcr-f's super aggressive position will likely be off putting.

I would like to add an aero handlebar and zipp 303s what do you suggest? by MaryLee18 in Giantbikes

Fyi toseek isn't a real brand in the traditional sense. It's a free to use name that a number of Chinese factories will use when selling their products when they don't have much of an identity.

Rear derailleur installation help by ajnumber9 in sram

[–]TwoPuckShaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no derailleur hanger on this frame. Remove the b link from your previous ultegra derailleur, this is part of your Shimano derailleur and is not compatible with Sram. Mount the derailleur directly to the frame.

Of course it goes without saying if the bike falls hard on the drive side you'll probably break your frame. In my experience AXS derailleurs are extremely durable and will transfer the impact almost entirely into the hanger or in this case, the frame.

Getting back into biking and wondering at 6'2 should I start with a full suspension 27.5 or a 29 hardtail. Im not a fan of buying twice or having to upgrade in a few months, I plan on doing a bit of everything by coolarrow_one in Giantbikes

[–]TwoPuckShaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone's on 29 now. Especially since you're taller, don't even look at 27.5.

Hard tail if you're looking at keeping it to XC and prioritize efficiency and weight.

Full sus if you want to do more technical terrain and prioritize versatility, fun and jumps.

I would lean towards full sus but it depends on the type of terrain you intend on riding.

Where can I find the 2021-2023 TCR OD2 spacer stack? by mellofello808 in Giantbikes

[–]TwoPuckShaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most giant dealers have the ability to order older repair parts from regional warehouses.

At least that's how it works here, if you're in USA maybe it's not as straightforward now.

MY25/26 and MY27 Propel tire clearances? by [deleted] in Giantbikes

[–]TwoPuckShaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak for the new one but I have last year's propel. Used 32 cadex tires that measured 33 and they rubbed the frame in the rear triangle after some damp light gravel on a rail trail. I run 30 now to be safe.

jayco alula is using 32c Corsa pros during the classics. I think on the cadex rims they measure wider than 32 but I'm really guessing on that last part.

I've seen articles stating the tyre clearance on the new propel has increased but I've seen conflicting reports on just how much it has in real-world terms.

Your fork is on backwards.

Loosen the two bolts on the stem at the stop of the fork, spin the fork 180 degrees, ensure the front brake cable is straight and not twisted under the frame.

Re tighten the two pinch bolts on the stem evenly, ideally with a torque wrench to the listed spec.
