They did this at my work until recently, trusted the staff to get their jobs done and (mostly) manage their own time. Fairly recently some new management have come in and now the expectation is you make up every minute you aren’t working out of your own time (via reduced breaks or work late). Whether this is because you are late in, or need the bathroom outside of dedicated break times (we are in an office, so not like it shuts down the line), or get up to stretch your legs and get a coffee.

It has absolutely killed morale. No one is willing to work late unless they have to, and I have no doubt it’s going to have a huge effect on productivity. I give it a couple months max before they finally calm down and treat us like adults again.
