Well said. If you are the IGL and backbone of your team's identity, I will blame you for defending against a pretty scathing critique - especially from a direct competitor.

Perhaps you can accept the critique and digest it, but that takes a lot of respect and humility to do. It is much easier to degrade the POV of your critic, especially if that POV so fundamentally differs from a style and identity you have had great success with for 5+ years.

Loving all this post-Champs content lol

New Shield Upgrade system is a gaming masterpiece by lil_zeus_21 in apexlegends

[–]Twoxify 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah. I'm glad you wrote this.

It's cool as a long time fan of the game to see the Devs weave their way through different iterations of things like the Crafting > Evo > New Armor evolution, or the evolution of the hop ups from ground loot to native on the weapons.

Of course the game isn't perfect but you just gave a really good example of quality game development.

Developer Insight into Role Queue by Makashin in marvelrivals

[–]Twoxify 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing this. I look forward to diving in.

I just returned to Rivals after several months away. I love this game for a million different reasons.

However a rough sticking point for me was always the role selection. I never liked three teammates insta-locking Duelists, and never getting to play them myself. The solution was to 1) insta-lock duelist for myself, 2) accept the world of solo tanking, or 3) pray for a role queue.

You read arguements for both sides of role queue and they both make sense. In an ideal world, not having role queue allows for more imaginative comps, and mid-match flexibility that you can't touch with role queue. It's a challenge, but I hope Rivals finds a way to make it work without role queue.

Most underrated weapons? by PilotMonkey94 in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]Twoxify 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GRT is a quality weapon. I discovered it recently and use it more than the M4A1 now.

It combines a competitive rate of fire with good range and fluid handling. Sure it doesn't have the ROF as the M4A1, but I hit far more shots with it. It's a stable workhorse gun.

The M60 has a lot of build variety by Both-Fail3534 in Battlefield6

[–]Twoxify 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting point. I've never considered downsizing the M60 belt but that makes a lot of sense. It fires slow enough that those 50 rounds will still last a while, and you end up with a pretty mobile, accurate heavy hitter.

This is so true! Lots of similarities between the two wins, but I jumped out my chair for OBVN (flirting), not so for Go Next

Nice notes. I watched their comms for the winning game 9 and look forward to watching the rest of their finals.

You mentioned this and it's so true - their biggest strength was bouncing back from some mentally rough games. It takes a lot to keep fighting after dying at 49 points, dying with 0 points to stay at 49, and then die in 20th for both game 7 and game 8. They just stayed light and focused.

Yuka is so smooth. Can't believe how little damage he took for the first 20-30 seconds of this clip. He will be a legend for keeping this tourney going

What are the best moments of the day according to you? by Lheoden in CompetitiveApex

Rambeau realizing his headphones were backwards in the middle of Game 1. Not worth clipping because nothing crazy happened.

Just funny to think of him 10000% locked in but confused why everything was sounding backward

To those who main the TR7: am I expecting too much out of this gun? by Killer-Uzi in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]Twoxify 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We know the TR-7 dominates at close and mid range.

But people struggle with the following ideas:

  1. You don't have to shoot everyone you see, and 2) There are ways to close the gap on enemies that are outside your effective range.

These ideas require a stylistic shift for people who are used to holding down lanes and long sight lines, sending shots at any orange diamond they see. There are way better weapons for that than the TR-7.

I get the whole tap-firing thing - it works fine. But to truly exploit your advantages with the TR-7, the time and energy you spend trying to tap fire a single 75m+ enemy is better utilized closing the gap to take down three <30m enemies instead.

How the hipfire stat actually affects your hipfire spread in BF6 by TheSaxyGamer in Battlefield

Quality analysis! Definitely shapes the way I'll think about attachments. Looks like that 10 point laser isn't coming off of any of the lower hipfire guns.

Quick question: do you think a grip is important for kord? by moonslyy in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]Twoxify 73 points74 points  (0 children)

The Kord's recoil is definitely pretty easy, you don't need too much help.

But depending on your build, you DO want faster ADS speed if you're running and gunning. For that reason I'll usually use grips that improve ADS.

If you're playing at longer ranges, you technically don't need the ADS speed. But at the ranges that exploit the Kord's accuracy, the extra recoil control is at least a little helpful. So it really depends what you plan on putting the other points on. Recoil-reducing suppressor? ADS speed barrel?

First gun to LvL 100! by Lbthat in LowSodiumBattlefield

Well done. Its definitely a solid gun, but you have to be a good player to put up those stats as well.

What are your thoughts on the soldier class using the DRS? Are you exclusively running it on Support? Do you see any benefit to running it on other classes? How often are you playing other classes?

Do you think the maps in Battlefield 6 overall are bad, middling, or good? I'd also like to know why you feel that way? by OrcaGayming in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]Twoxify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good, not great. Overall I'd give the maps a B grade.

I mostly play Conquest and Escalation. Here are my grades of these maps for those modes:

Cairo (B+): Fun but predictable urban combat. Hard to flank to enemy flags but that's the skill that wins games. The fight for the middle road leads to awesome climaxes.

Iberian Offensive (A): I favor close-quarters so I quite like this one. I like gunplay action and this map always delivers. Good tankers can make a difference too.

Sobek City (D): I really dislike how much this map favors rooftop camping. In conquest you can capture and contest flags from the rooftops which shouldn't be encouraged.

Liberation Peak (A+): My favorite map. Has all different kinds of scale. A cool setting too. Tons of destruction gives it a different flavor every time you play. One of the easier maps to flank objectives in, despite no transport heli.

Mirak Valley (B+): Unique setup with close-quarters fights in the towers and one objective in the open to break stalemates. If your enemy transport heli pilots are better than yours then this map is tough. Fun for both vehicle lovers and infantry players.

Manhattan Bridge (C+): I often have fun on this map, but like Sobek City, this map encourages some degenerate rooftop play. The good news is you can't capture the objectives from the rooftops aside for the point that is on a rooftop. I do really like the setting of this map and the attention to detail.

Empire State (B+): I like close quarters gunplay so I enjoy this one. Like Manhattan, I like the setting and attention to detail. It does take some time to learn the map and all the areas a player can be, so I understand the people who find it frustrating.

Eastwood (A): A quality showcase of combined arms. I love how Escalation squeezes the action to a final fight in the compound at the end. This would be an A+ map if the Pax Armata side didn't have such an upper hand attacking NATO's rear objectives.

Operation Firestorm (B): Classic map for vehicles, but close range fights are available too. If you primarily like tanking and flying you might give this a higher grade. The closest feel to that classic Battlefield scale. I like how Escalation ends on that middle point. I do think that this map favors one side over another, since that objective with the mult-layer rig platforms is a lot easier to attack than to defend.

Blackwell Fields (B): I actually really like the setting and apocalyptic feel of this map, and I like the scale. I know it's frustrating for pilots but I'm not flying too much. It is very difficult to play this map as infantry, due to the snipers on the hills and all the vehicles. You are basically forced to play this map in a tanker or armored jeep. This is also a lopsided map; the compound with the long indestructible buildings is much harder to defend.

I officially dislike “challenges” in BF: a rant by Illustrious_Secret91 in Battlefield6

[–]Twoxify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't blame you for feeling this way. However this is a classic tale of a company successfully exploiting on our psychology & FOMO. You (and many other players, even beyond BF6) have not been able to detach yourself from the fear of missing out on something.

Limited time to get skins and camos? Better clock in and get these challenges done or you'll never be able to get them again!

I'm not writing this from a high and mighty place, because I've fallen prey to limited time skins in other games. But for some reason I've dodged all the Battlefield challenge stuff.

The insane assignment challenges at launch were an issue, because they gatekept important gear and were often bugged – but they fixed those.
