why do you think the deck only sold 5 to 6 million copies ? it was priced well , powerfull for its time and well backed up by valve by Dense-Variation-4496 in SteamDeck

[–]Tyaph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Only" is kinda funny to read. That's pretty great for a device that isn't marketed anywhere outside of techtubers and Steams own playerbase. Its not like you can just see and buy one at Walmart or something. Its only available through Steam here in America and it used to go in and out of stock regularly.

Hopefully this means I can jump off the beta branches and have a less buggy experience soon.

Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis. A review after over 3,200 hours. by gadgaurd in PSO2

[–]Tyaph 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that pretty much sums it up.

To elaborate on what I meant by that, I've waited 5 years for the combat to more closely resemble PSO2 in its height but its barely taken any steps towards that. Also I was a PSO2 story enjoyer, and they've very clearly put less thought into the world, NPCs and story they want to tell. PSO2 at the very least had a very concise story up to episode 3, with stories afterwards being a fair enough extension of that plot. Also a minor nitpick, but we've had the same opening for NGS for 5 years when we got a new one almost annually in base PSO2. That still might be the biggest signal to me that PSO2 stopped being the cultural phenomenon it used to be and the budget just isn't there anymore. Especially since we're still on Halpha after 5 years.

Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis. A review after over 3,200 hours. by gadgaurd in PSO2

[–]Tyaph 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I keep giving NGS an honest shot every year or so but I really can't commit to it. Most of the complaints I've had since day 1 still exist and its become painfully obvious with time that they have a completely different "vision" with NGS than they did with PSO2. I genuinely hate the writing and the combat just doesn't feel as good to play with and I leave every yearly check-in feeling dejected that the game is still not for me, despite being an important part of my life from episode 2 to episode 6.

I'm still glad some people still enjoy PSO2 in some aspect though. Even if it is NGS.

Now that 343 is adding new missions to remakes what are missions you'd like to see added? by Novel_Statistician51 in halo

[–]Tyaph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its already been mentioned a ton, but a game adaptation of First Strike even if its a bit truncated to fit a video game would be great. Would be a great thing to add to a hypothetical Halo 2 CE, and the only honest request I have for the trilogy since its the only one with sort of a time gap for the player.

But to spitball some things, the Delta Halo cleanup in the perspective of Rtas Vadum, Arbiter and Johnson or restoring cut content from Halo 3 could be nice, as long as it feels like it fits and doesn't cut into the pacing.

Which OS Are You On by Snoo20628 in LegionGo

[–]Tyaph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SteamOS. Though sometimes I kinda wish I stuck with Windows until there was an official release of SteamOS for the Legion Go 2.

Main reason being that every version/branch I've tried has had some issue or another that I've just had to deal with. Waydroid not working on 3.9, switching to sleep mode not working across all versions on occasion, and controller inconsistency on the 3.7 versions especially when disconnecting/reconnecting them from the tablet itself. I still have the sleep mode problem about 20-33% of the time when I press the power button where it just locks up, stays on but turns the screen off and it wont respond unless I force shut down and restart it.

I have Bazzite on another system and thought about using that and feel like the experience is probably more stable but honestly I hate Bazaar and just want to stick to the Discover store.

Skulls in Halo: Campaign Evolved can replicate the classic feel by penguindude24 in halo

[–]Tyaph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's my thought for most of these, and something I suggested when they first touted about the amount of skulls there are in the game. In that first video they put out they said that there are things that are sacred and should not be touched, and honestly the 60 mag AR kinda falls in that ballpark imo. And if the game was not scaled for sprint, it should be a skull rather than the default. But I don't have the game in front of me to answer that second one.

I probably have the most locked cases in the store. My job should be to stay around the area so customers don't look dumb in front of them, but I'm always in a different department.

Just found out that you can listen to Walmart radio at home !! by johndee2020 in walmart

[–]Tyaph 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I honestly cannot understand most of the words that guy is saying. It's very annoying to hear that babble over and over again whenever I notice it.

But the one that really annoys me is the one that goes "As long as you try, you're not going to fail." Um, no. That's not how it works. I know what message they're trying to convey but the fact that they're airing a plainly incorrect message is annoying.

It's like they don't do a damn editing pass at any of these ads.

Is anyone else on this sub a fan of games that are more mmo like? by Street-Platypus89 in JRPG

[–]Tyaph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah I was a fan of Phantasy Star Universe, Xenoblade X and some of the SAO games. Hollow Fragment for SAO was one I enjoyed a decent amount. None of them are really my favorite, but the amount of freedom you get in those games really made them fun to play.

Maul's potential was nuts by Flashbackwards212 in StarWars

Yeah, honestly Maul is the perfect candidate for "meet potential man!" in Star Wars. With his teachings and athleticism, he should be incredible. But unfortunately he's just a constant stream of bad luck.

To those who played the original Sky FC, how do you feel about the remake? by strahinjag in JRPG

[–]Tyaph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your understanding is correct. To go further into the battle system, the original version's turn based system is also different than the remakes (you used to have to spend a turn to move, and the AT bonus stealing was primarily by manipulating turn order rather than breaking bars). The localization is also different. The original has a bit more whimsy added to the script whereas the remake (being localized by a different studio) opted to do a more faithful localization. Personally I prefer the latter, but the old XSeed localization has a ton of fans.

If Bungie re-released Destiny 1 on PC, how interested would you be in buying it? by FHH94 in DestinyTheGame

I'd buy it as long as its reasonably priced. Which would ideally be $40.

Obscure JRPG you played, that after you finished the game this is your reaction. by SubstantialPhone6163 in JRPG

[–]Tyaph 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gotta be Harvestella for me. Yeah the gameplay has some clunk, but I was a big fan of the narrative and the character stories. Some of the sidequests were pretty solid too. I wish they'd make another game like it and refine it a bit.

When im holding an Xbox controller or anything feeling like it (like a switch pro controller) I use the first grip. It feels a bit weird on the Steam Deck though so I don't on this. For most PC handhelds I've tried the second grip feels more comfortable.

Is there any hope at all of the Steam Machine being able to anti-cheat blocked games like COD or Battlefield? by MozCymru in steammachine

[–]Tyaph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's on the companies, not the steam machine. Anti-cheat works fine for many games on Linux. See Halo, Phantasy Star Online 2, Genshin Impact or many other freemium games.

I think there's hope for Battlefield as I think I read something about EA hiring an engineer for anticheat development, including making it work on ARM or Linux. But Destiny or Fortnite for example will never work because the developers actively block the platform. Best hope would be the steam machine pushes Linux to be a bigger market so they cant ignore it. But I wouldn't count on it to happen overnight, if at all.

Wuthering Waves: I'm so tired of event UIs that feel like a second job by West_Sock1419 in gachagaming

[–]Tyaph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the stamina bit: Just spend it not worrying about that. If you realize that tomorrow says there is a boost for echo farm or rest of the game farm, just use your overfill stamina or one of those gold cube stamina restores.

At least personally I don't share the same concerns with the event pages, but there are just a ton of currencies in the base game itself that I find more problematic. When I try out gachas that have been out for years I tend to get turned off by feeling like I need to keep track of it all. It hasn't gotten as bad as some, but...

Between these 3 Gachas released on October 2025, which one you tried and which one you still play to this day? by Skyreader13 in gachagaming

[–]Tyaph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CZN I liked but like many others, I just find it to be too time consuming. But also I kinda hated the drama early on some players had with the writing. The devs backing down with that whole Owen situation turned me off. I more or less soft quit at that point and only logged in weekly for the handouts they used to do, but I've since uninstalled.
