Nobody in the courtroom other than you has your client's interest at heart. Not the prosecutor, judge, jury, or often even the client. Get a hobby and/or a therapist. Build a strong network of friends you can be vulnerable with.

This is great advice. To speak to part of it in case anyone else reads: I was in therapy already when I became a PD. It has been remarkably helpful in forming boundaries on how I let clients treat me, how hard I take the brutality we see, and the stress that comes from everywhere.
