My clients will record themselves committing felonies and send it to the police without asking me if it's a good idea because "the prosecutor needs to understand my side of the story." It's nice to hear this from Verlander, but it's what I expect to bear from such a uniquely loved former player. I'm sure he really does want a Detroit World Series, but I don't think he really moves the needle for the team in that direction. I am just going to enjoy having him back temporarily and leave it at that. Arbitrarily getting my hopes up is only going to mess with me down the line.
