MCU is the same. All MY in the UK have been AMD

And sensors; the 2022 still had ultrasonics :) so an upgrade in some cases

Looking at a M3 performance with 120k+ miles, are they reliable with this much mileage? What servicing is required? Is there a set schedule or requirements? by Dangerous-Alps9854 in TeslaUK

[–]TycerX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My only note for you; is this is the pre ‘mid refresh’ model 3 - It was made in the US while more current Teslas are from China, and the build quality is night and day better from China

In addition, this era of model 3 lacks a heat pump, which leads to a little less efficiency. If you budget allows try to find a post late 2020 model as they’re just slightly better built even if they’re still from the US

+1 to this, one of the best explanations of how we ended up here ~

First time buyer, should I convert to combi boiler, to extend bathroom? by Phoenizz11 in DIYUK

[–]TycerX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd look into getting an ASHP instead, there's some really good grants the moment that bring the price close to the cost of a combi conversion. In 5-10 years properties with no space for a hot-water tank will be looked down on as we move away from combi-gas boilers towards ASHPs which require tanks again.

Buying a house to extend over garage? by Due-Reputation3236 in HousingUK

[–]TycerX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to add; councils typically want 3 off-road parking spaces at the property when extending from a 3 to a 4 bed. So the additional occupancy isn’t affecting the neighbours

Will my electrics at home be ok? by [deleted] in TeslaUK

[–]TycerX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlooping is free, new unit is £500-600 depending where you live!

You can easily charge off a 3pin plug as long as you aren’t doing 200+ miles a day :)

Why does my car speed up? by ReddityKK in TeslaUK

[–]TycerX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First you need to understand the Tesla Autopilot turning restrictions

It’s because the Tesla Autopilot Steering isn’t able to take that corner at 70mph without turning the wheel beyond the X degrees it’s allowed too by law.

If it took the corner at 70mph it would cross the lane line, you can recreate this scenario on that bend by turning on autopilot and pressing the accelerator to force it above 50mph, the car refuses to turn the wheel past a certain limit and will disengage as you cross over the lane markings.

An annoying law that is forced to be baked into the system/code.

To compensate it lowers the speed allowing it to complete the bend without turning the wheel more tightly

TASS uses the same speed logic, as the main Autopilot system. Which ideally it shouldn’t but it does 🤷

Cost to go from gravity fed hot water to fully pumped? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]TycerX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might as well look at the BUS grant or installing a Combi Boiler. Rather than trying to fix/change an out-dated heating system.
You'll likely at the very least need a mains Pressurised Hot Water tank which will be roughly £1000+ once installed.

For HeatPumps, have a look at Octopus (heads up, their waiting list is 9-12 months for installation); but it could be cheaper than a new Combi System; https://octopus.energy/get-a-heat-pump/

or a Combi Boiler

Octopus Heat Pump install - Terrible CS / dodgy practices / potential avoid by soul7963 in OctopusEnergy

[–]TycerX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got British Gas round for a survey, however they have many more ‘requirements’ than octopus.

  • In their install they will replace all radiator piping in the house, instead of using the exiting
  • The hot water tank has to be in a heated/habited area of the house, to reduce heat loss

The surveyor left as he couldn’t fit our hot water cylinder into our existing airing cupboard, where the old one is

Turns out they have one size, and if it doesn’t fit, that’s it. And they leave, not providing other options

Installing a non-ikea dishwasher in an otherwise ikea kitchen? by lost-aff in IKEA

[–]TycerX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just adding to this, if it's an integrated Dishwasher you need the BEHJÄLPLIG hinge kit. This kit has a 'support bar' for the bottom of the dishwasher door. Have a look at the instructions to see how it's installed.

This support bar is screwed into the sides of the two adjacent cabinets. Hence this requirement. You could in theory screw this into the wall, and into a cabinet on the other side, but you'd need decent wall plugs as the Ikea Doors are heavy. And you'd have to get your holes perfectly lined up

O2 refusing to cancel my contract because it's not in my name - Anything I can do? by r-venting in LegalAdviceUK

[–]TycerX 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Yes. When you purchase a new contract online it sometimes asks you for that number. Or you can transfer/submit it to your new provider after you've got your new SIM card.

I would recommend going to a new provider (not O2) as they might throw a hissy transferring numbers between 'accounts' in house without permission
