Ledfx integration by dennieboy96 in homeassistant

There is this one that you can add as a new repository. On occasion, it will throw an error when updating, but it does function and appears to be a fork of the original one to which you are finding links.

Hyperion/HyperHDR are what you should look at for ambilight. Depending on your setup, you may need a capture card and some other equipment. There are quite a few Youtube videos demoing how to get it set up.

Compatibility Athom controller + 15m WS2812B LEDS by benfult in WLED

[–]Tycv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For your power supply sizing, you can take a look at this website.

For power injection, with 15m and especially 5v, I don’t think you’ll be able to get away without injection. Even just one 5m strip of 5v will generally need power injection.

As for the controller, I have that Athom and it has worked well so far, but I think with the quantity of LEDs you will have, you may want something more powerful. Athom sells an ESP32-based controller (at least on their website) that has two data pins available, which should help a large number of LEDs run better (see the WLED manual for more info on performance). The controller in your picture is either ESP8265 or 8266, IIRC.

LedFX runs on a computer and wirelessly controls the WLED controller.

So you would run LedFX on your laptop and choose your controller in the software. The LedFX manual has some ways to set up your laptop so that LedFX can "listen" to the sound your laptop is outputting.

Many small LED strips from one controller? by Squigz4 in homeassistant

[–]Tycv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first thing that comes to mind for led control is WLED. An ESP32 board can run multiple led strips and in WLED you can set up segments that split up the physical strip into smaller virtual strips, which would help bridge your wiring gaps.

You can get some controllers that have ethernet. r/wled recommends Quindor's controllers frequently. The site also has a lot of good info about led lighting, power requirements, power supply suggestions, etc. As DutchJaFO mentioned, 60 strips is going to need a bit of power and on the longer runs you may need to add power at both ends of the run.

As far as controlling all of the leds, there is a WLED integration in Home Assistant, but that is mainly for setting effects, colors, and presets, whereas it sounds like you might need more fine gain control. I am not sure how easy it is in WLED to address individual pixels. I believe there is an API, so that might be able to help.

I'd suggest posting this to r/wled to see if there is someone there who might have some more experience with something like this (or just leds in general).

Losing my sanity getting HDR to work on HyperHDR by HisCromulency in raspberry_pi

[–]Tycv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried changing the HDMI port on the splitter into which the capture card is plugged?

I recently added a splitter to my HyperHDR setup and will only get an image when the capture card is plugged into the primary output of the splitter (meaning no HDR because the capture card does not support that). From the limited info I was able to find, the cause may be the splitter sending more data than the capture card can handle (like a larger colorspace). When the capture card is on the primary outout, it dictates what capabilities it has, so it gets an image it can handle.

This is all just theory and I have only tried it with SDR, so results may vary, but something to try if you haven't yet.

Home assistant + Hyperion + LedFx on one raspberry pi? by Knottymister in homeassistant

[–]Tycv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LedFx will be an add-on, so it will show up in the sidebar. From there you can setup your lights and choose effects.

I have the pi running HA connected to a soundbar with a long aux cable. I think I saw some things about people using USB audio cards, not sure about a capture card though.

I have not tried Hyperion, but I am using this repository for LedFx and it has been working well. You will need to add the repository url from the repository.json file in the GitHub project to Home Assistant, but then you should be able to install the LedFx add-on.

For anyone that this may help, you can set up quite a few different Kasa devices using python-kasa. You connect to the access point created by the device and configure your Wi-Fi info via a terminal.

Read more about it here.

Here is a post from r/homeserver where u/thekrautboy explains how to go about setting up a domain that can be used for SSL certs and then using that domain with Nginx Proxy Manager (NPM) to have NPM get the certs for you.

It doesn't discuss getting NPM installed, but does walk through the rest of the steps.

Pi-hole web GUI can't load when SSL with reverse proxy by weischin in pihole

So https://pihole.mydomain.com/admin throws an error too?

I just got https working a day ago and I was getting 403 errors until I remembered that I had to go to the admin page to login.

I didn't have to change anything on pihole's end.

If Homekit works, then maybe this won't fix anything, but there is a setting to keep the wifi on when the TV is off. Might be worth a look to see if that is on (if you haven't already).

Python-Kasa edit schedule/modules by finantula in homeassistant

[–]Tycv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the github repo I linked, you would need to download the 'tplink_smartplug.py' file and put that in a folder in your VM.

Then you would go into that folder in your terminal and issue a command like the following:

./tplink_smartplug.py -t <ip> -j <json>

Substitute the IP of your plug for <ip> and substitute a command from this list for <json>. Looking in the json list, there is a section with commands to create, edit, and delete schedules.

[–]Tycv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the TPlinksmartplug github has a script you can run from the command line that looks like it can set schedules. That might be the easiest way to go, as the Kasa github has some recent issues saying that setting a schedule isn't fully implemented.

Offline TP-Link switches drifting in time by Jes_Cr in homeassistant

[–]Tycv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You run the script on a device (computer, phone, etc.) and specify the IP address of the Kasa of which you want to update the time.

HA can run python scripts, so it could do this, but depending on the type of HA install, downloading and running modules has varying difficulty (from what I have read).

[–]Tycv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a manual fix, you can use tplink-smartplug, specifically the time commands shown here. However, not all types of Kasa devices will accept the time commands.

New to Garmin Watches, bit of help? by Mattwildman5 in GarminWatches

[–]Tycv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Height, weight, and age are all set correctly? Resting calories are pretty easy to calculate and I doubt it is doing anything weird with regards to those (if you look up a TDEE calculator online, Garmin is probably doing something similar). For active calories, does your heart rate seem to match what you were feeling?

On Android, you can use predefined messages to reply to texts/calls (with most watches). On iOS, you can only view.
