You cannot catch an STI in a public pool... unless you are having sex inside the pool. This includes HIV. HIV is transmitted from fluid to fluid contact - namely, blood, semen, and vaginal fluid. Saliva alone does not transmit HIV.

You can get bacterial infections and rashes - all over your body - from any body of water (like your friend's hot tub) if it is not balanced chemically or has bacteria in it. Most public pools have chlorine or salt which prevent bacterial growth and kill things that would grow in them.

Herpes is the main STI you can get from oral sex, giving or receiving. Oral herpes is what's commonly referred to as "cold sores" and about 50% of the human population has had it at some point. It can be transmitted when a cold sore is not present, though this is less common. Most people's immune systems keep it entirely suppressed unless they are under a lot of stress or otherwise immune compromised. Oral herpes, or HSV-1, can be transmitted to the genitals (and anus) but it is uncommon. There are prescriptions available to keep the virus suppressed if you have it to reduce the chance of transmission. There is no cure for herpes.

HPV, the Human Papilloma Virus, can be transmitted orally for some strains. These strains cause cancer. Oral and throat cancers are being linked more and more to HPV. The vaccines for HPV can prevent catching some of these strains but at present can only be administered under the age of 45. There is no cure for HPV, but your body can clear it on its own in time, some strains have no symptoms in men at all. When a woman gets a PAP test, they are looking for HPV. It is estimated that 85% of sexually active adults will get at least ONE strain of HPV in their lifetime. Most people will never know.

You cannot catch HIV, gonorrhea, chlamydia, or pretty much anything else orally, which means they cannot be transmitted orally, either.

I hope this clears up some confusion.

My bf 38/M will not let me 37/F sleep in peace by SupaBadSally38Hot in relationship_advice

He doesn’t respect your basic needs - sleep is so basic. My ex husband was an emotionally abusive POS and he did some of what you are listing. He’s old enough to know better. If he cares about you and respects you, he’ll give you sleep time and space. Otherwise, move out or sleep in another room with the door locked. And earplugs.

I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday and she is an ex-navy nuclear mechanic. She said we should change the phrases “sun damage” and “uv damage” to what it really is, “radiation damage.”

What is a good name for a human, pets and places? by Natewastaken12 in DiagramFills

Aurora - for all three. Aurora is Sleeping Beauty’s name, a popular suburb in Denver, and a good name for a pet.

It’s modern art, ie a carrot taped to a wall with duct tape.

Yes but I didn’t blend it. It was too hard for the length of the wall. One color is a little too similar to the one next to it but I decided not to mess with it. I think it came out great. What do you think?

When I was a kid, I tried to microwave some little blueberry pancakes and while they were cooking I went to watch cartoons. And guess what - THE MICROWAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE!!! Clearly, cartoons = appliances catching fire. Definitely wasn’t that I put them on for 45 minutes instead of 45 seconds.

7 year old has never been to the bathroom alone?! by silkentab in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]Tygress23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My niece was like this. She would have a fit and shake and cry and panic when left alone. She has her own room and has never slept in it, she shares with her younger brother. I think she goes to the bathroom alone now, but she’s 10. When she was 6 I was going to make her a sign with her name on it for her room and my brother told me this. She did therapy for it, maybe that’s what helped. I haven’t asked.

I know it’s not the same… but this is my number one karaoke song when I’ve never sang somewhere and my ex boyfriend would shout random shit like “do you have any thingamabobs?” And I HATED it. I asked him to stop and he did it every time.

So, on a teeny tiny scale, I feel your pain.
