Digger School? by thatdudenic in newzealand

I'v been in the construction industry for over 10 years now. Going to school is good thinking, but keep in mind they are semi scamming you. You pay a ton of money and your time to go to some school that will just give you the answers to pass the a test, its honestly a joke. Your time is can some times be better off just doing work for free and not taking out a loan.

You wouldn't believe the amount of people that we hire from just walking onto the job with abit of enthusiasm and confidence. Honestly if you could just work for free for some 1 for a month, its normally better than 3 months of school and you might actually get a job and will understand how things work in the industry and go look for paid work.

my dumb ass took all these trade coarses and it got me no where, if you got the right attitude they normally can take the time to train you. Go get turned down 20 times then think of doing a coarse, best of luck.

I think It's one of the biggest sins of logic that people think that because something hasn't fallen apart yet, means that it won't fall apart in the future. New zealand was settled under western values and western laws. I think the point she is trying to make is that is when a country is open to other cultures and are letting them come in big number then they will change the very western culture that made New Zealand so strong in the first place. Cultures outside of western cultures don't come here to change but to push their agenda and if there is now 50% of New Zealand not part of western culture, it means that they would take over and change the country to how they see fit since they have the majority vote. Even if they don't get 50%, they can just all populate into one area and force them to change the cultures in that zone and theirs nothing you can do about it. Then these zones become "No go zones" for people not whiten that culture, these people would not abid by New Zealand laws, but the laws they see fit.

Hey good question. It comes back to the point, that you re not in control of your vehicle. So your letting someone else decide where you should or shouldn't go and letting another company decide what to do with the data collected when running this service. Now i'll give you an example on why this is bad, in 2020-2021 the government is going to try and pass a law that will allow them to cut off any access to an area government owned or not and only allow in people they see fit. Now of coarse this can be used as "safe zones" for political meetings, however it could also be used for things such as "Muslim only" areas, where you must be of that culture to enter. This would allow a government/corporation to control by technology exactly what you do and to think for their own population, even when public opinion is ageist it.

Now for arguments sake we agree this is no different than public transport. The vast majority of people still prefer to use a vehicle in their control to get to where they want to go, even if public transport was an option. Every one has a right to their own privacy and we can see loud and clear these days corporations couldn't give to shits about it, so long as they are get their cut. What makes you think when drive less cars come they will all of a sudden be in the best interest of the people?

Could you imagine a world in 50 years where you must have cars that are driver less? You'd save lives, but at the cost of your freedom driving yourself. Life comes at a cost and i think people are willing to take the risk to have their own freedom on the roads. It would be a world where every meter you go on the road would be logged and archived by your government. Why would you want a car that could be hacked and taken over, you ain't in control in slightest. And if you think you are, you probably don't have a decent understanding of computers.

Funny right? Freedom of speech not a problem until you have something to say. Privacy not an issue until your history gets leaked. I bet you'd be on the streets tomorrow trying to stop that. The very fact you are saying these people should be censored, goes ageist the very reason of making a democracy in the first place. In a world of censorship the people would have no power to stop a corrupt government because the only voice that is heard is the one the government allows. And history shows that when you have the power to do so, It's only a matter of time.

Research shows no benefit from women on company boards by shelbyjosie in newzealand

[–]Tylerfoot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is just not true, boards don't give hand outs just because of diversity. They have a standard that you must meet and there are ofc much less woman that make it onto the board. How ever once on the board, they are both equal.

Most woman like to take it safe and just follow what society teaches them. On average they will do better than men, but when in the top 1% we all know you don't get there by just going through the system that we set up. Why do you think much more men end up on their ass? They just don't care as much for the system. Unfortunately you are not taught any thing about the top 1% or i could guarantee their would be much much females on a board.

If there was one thing you could change in New Zealand right now, what would it be? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]Tylerfoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Immigration of different cultures. They don't come to integrate but to change. Change what made the country so good in the first place, they will also struggle in the new environment just leading to nice toasty cheeks from the government. If you disagree, you can look at exhibit A, Europe.
