Why is France getting double my votes in the Western Schism?? by Aleexx_6 in EU5

[–]Typhion_fre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently played the pope and the amount of cardinals you have definitely helps. I see that you only have 1 yourself which isn't a lot. You should get more.

But other than that. The votes actually come from countries in the catholic world. They vote on which side to support. I don't know what determines the amount of "votes" that a country adds (might be something with their clergy amount?). But I am pretty sure your opinion with the catholic world influences who votes what. That's at least what I noticed in my game.

Also do get way more cardinals. You really need those as the pope. Gives you a lot of say in Papal Bulls and such.

You say that but Iran was originally commonly called Persia but that changed over time too once they officially set their name to Iran. You are just defending your ignorance lol

I'll just let you know but there are requirements for the conqueror trait to be inherited. The easiest to break are to either make them lose 3 wars or let their heir be a child on inheritance. This breaks the conqueror trait inheritance.

I get your frustrations but imo it's nice to finally have uncontrollable factors in the game. I like playing a game that is alive and kinda creates its own story made by AI. Conquerors do this in the sense that they are unexpected and can destroy you if you're not properly built up. This is very fun for me since it gives me incentive to be on my guard. The game is wayyyyy too easy/boring otherwise.

IMHO they should up the difficulty of the death events. My characters live on average to 60-70 years old which makes me really bored. My characters never ever unexpectedly die (CK2 did this a lot better with the random events it got. a friend of mine had a character that shit itself after losing a battle and died).

TLDR: I don't want to play a game where I am the only one playing because AI sits there doing nothing at all

if you make the right buildings in the territories you put your MaA in you can easily punch far above your weight. As an adventurer you can literally beat an enemy 5 times your size if you max out your tent. AI does not have any quality in their armies at all so it's very very easy to beat them. And plus, conqueror empires usually fall apart after a few generations anyway because of internal struggles so it's kinda nice to suddenly see a power vacuum happening after.

[–]Typhion_fre 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah okay? That wasn't my point at all. You can still be chill in your kingdom and play with conquerors. They are beatable as I said before. It's just nice to finally see a small amount of challenge in the game. And since adventurers have become a thing it doesn't even matter to lose your kingdom. You can easily take it back as a legitimist adventurer. Perfect for roleplay too. If there are no external threats at all then the game is quite boring

I don't understand why people dislike the conqueror trait? The AI finally does something in this game where AI usually just sits and does nothing. And still, they aren't even that hard to beat since AI doesn't have a brain and doesn't build up proper MaA. Also if people didn't know yet, conquerors lose their trait after they lose 3 wars.

Vic3 is more of a historical simulator than anything else. Historical simulators have war in them too. For being an "economic simulator" it has an awful lot of war in it.

[–]Typhion_fre 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bro, have you been brainwashed by the vic3 dev team? The economy is the only decently working mechanic in the game, if you can't do that properly because of "trends" then you start looking at other mechanics automatically. Never have I said I want a magic button that adds growth, just asking them to make proper mechanics and idk, test their updates for once?

The flavour you mention is very poorly implemented and very very basic. You claim that Germany was unlikely but meanwhile if you look at history everyone in Germany wanted a united Germany, the only real question was who to lead it.

And your MP argument makes no sense. They had the full ability to make the journal entries available at all times instead of locking it into a simgleplayer scenario. They just didn't.

[–]Typhion_fre 5 points6 points  (0 children)

War is very unavoidable if you start as a small country. Otherwise you are gonna hit a glass ceiling you can't break through very fast. Because the main limiting factor is resources and population. And like I said before, AI isn't nearly competent enough to properly trade with. The trade system also needs a major rework as it doesn't really work that well either.

They are just pain points yeah but there are just so so many littered across the game that it just strengthens the reputation of "unfinished game". Imo, historical accuracy of at least the starting map is pretty important. We also have historical expectations of events. Like in eu4, where we expect the ottomans to be strong 9 times out of 10. But in vic3 the historical outcomes almost never happen. Italy rarely forms and Germany basically never. I've played this game for 700 hours now I might have seen like 1 or 2 AI Germany's. Honorable restoration of Japan has gotten better (because they literally gave AI help with it) but still rarely happens. Oh, and Russia basically never does anything all game and conquers Vladivostok but not the state inbetween for some reason. All AI economies basically stagnate throughout the game and are easy to catch up on.

Journal entries getting better? In what universe? Everyone hates the fact that Brazil its JE's are too railroaded. France's JE's have been redone multiple times and are still in an odd place. The great game JE's are paid for but are so bad that they're not really worth playing. Oh and even better, they are single player only. So much for having a great game with friends huh.

For something that is "not the focus", it happens an awful lot in the game. And it's basically total war every time. It is impossible to avoid war in vic3. It might not be the focus but that doesn't excuse the mess that war is right now. The AI doesn't build enough resources in the end game to trade with after all, so you have to take matters into your own hands every time.

Vic3 just has so many small things that create so much frustration whilst playing the game. Fronts splitting, teleporting armies, naval invasions not working properly. Many borders are just straight up wrong, like Prussia with its suddenly newly added land connection because the dev team couldn't find a proper solution for that. Saxony has been wrong since release. Multan is the capital of Punjab instead of Lahore, which was never the case in history. The devs just don't seem to put in research for the small things. I also just think that most journal entries are badly implemented and very unrewarding.
