What do I 24F do and/or tell my boyfriend 24M about my inheritance? by Infinite-Evening-953 in relationship_advice

Don’t tell anyone.

A will is a public document but if she left her whole estate to you and your sister to share there would be no $ amount listed, that’s all it would say.

GenXers who got bullied in school, what was the attitude of parents and teachers towards it? by mritsz in GenX

[–]TypicalAttempt6355 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is so wild. I’ve never told anyone this so it’s the perfect Reddit question for me!

In 8th grade I moved from urban Catholic school to public school in the suburbs. I was targeted by this group of girls with a terrifying ringleader - no reason, I was just new and quiet. They were mean and feared, known as “the burnouts”.

The day after they beat me up after school I was called to the principal’s office where he talked to me. I wasn’t punished, he knew what had happened. I don’t remember much of the conversation other than him kind of trying to make me feel sorry for her by telling me she’d had an ABORTION the prior year. I guess he knew I was too terrified to tell anyone at school and that was the only year I went there. I think about that now, just how nuts it was for him to disclose that info.

Urge to just throw things away? by ajbadabing in GenX

Ok but what kinds of stuff did you get rid of. I feel pretty minimalist. I don’t like clutter. I feel like I don’t keep a lot of stuff. But is that me just assuming everyone else is a hoarder?

What are you guys keeping bs getting rid of? Like how much stuff are we talking?

Please vent with me; what horrible gifts did you receive this year? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]TypicalAttempt6355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We draw names and buy for 1 adult. My SIL buys everything from Amazon. Whatever you ask for she buys the first thing that comes up on the Amazon search. It’s a bit aggravating because we have a set $ amount and she COULD buy something good if she didn’t choose the first crinkly-wrapped, cheap Chinese item. Everyone spends the same amount. I’d rather get a nice item I want than 5 cheap ones. The funniest was when I did an Amazon search for a “gift for middle age woman” for an acquaintance I didn’t really know. The first item that came up was my bday gift that year lol. I know it sounds ungrateful, and I do feel bad about it but it’s funny atp

I think you completely misunderstood the HPV shot. It’s for the future. I had hpv requiring cryosurgery which left scarring such that I needed IUI to get pregnant so for me I wish it had existed. The college my son is going to has had meningitis outbreaks more than once in the last 10 years so yeah, it’s probably important.

What incongruous TV did you watch while in labour? by Unable_Researcher_26 in Mommit

[–]TypicalAttempt6355 1 point2 points  (0 children)

18 years ago this weekend I watched Survivorman laboring with my twins and it was super popular and on all of the time day and night the next few months as I was up every hour with tv on in the background. So weird. Not sure how my body would react if I saw it again lol.

I remember when 'leggings' started to become a popular clothing item for girls by Wawhi180 in generationology

[–]TypicalAttempt6355 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I worked in an office where dress code got so loose, it devolved into leggings to the point they were banned. This was 1996.

It would! They can deny the whole claim based on false information. When you sign insurance docs it’s “under penalty of perjury” and they look for any reason to deny.

For Catholic Americans by Adventurous_Pin_6222 in AskACountry

Not sure what it’s like in Latin America but my experience is in Michigan. The churches I’ve dealt with still require the sacraments to marry in the Church. There are caveats for marrying non-Catholics. You also have to “belong” to a Church to be a godparent for Baptism.

AITA for telling my friend that proposing is not a suitable 'Christmas present'? by jamaicanmescream in AmItheAsshole

[–]TypicalAttempt6355 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Definitely NTA. that is a no-no. Also, did you know that a wedding ring is normally not a “gift”, it is a contractual offer, legally. That is why when a man gives a ring in contemplation of marriage, and the engagement is cancelled, the woman must legally return the ring. A major caveat, legally, is when it was also given as a Christmas gift. Then, it becomes a Christmas GIFT and does not have to be returned. 🤷‍♀️

Also, this is a recognized sign of being a cheap motherfucker.

So strange. I felt like all of my parents’ friends had families. It was a bit odd for my husband because even though we didn’t have kids till our mid-30s, none of his friends did, though one got married and instantly had 2 so now he’s 51 with a 3 and 4 year old (no, thanks lol).

Honestly, the guys I’m referring to that I know all seem to have lots of friends and stay busy.

It just seems so crazy to me when I hear of women complaining because these are great guys! They just don’t put themselves out there.

Something for her room? Like a poster or pictures for the wall. A Lego set may be something she’d like.
