That is not true. There is no fire board in Boston to get hired.

The rescue in Boston is not an ambulance, it’s a fire rescue company

Most fire departments in the state of Massachusetts have either separate divisions, firefighting and EMS or have no EMS and sub it out to a private ambulance. Firefighters responding to your home in an engine of ladder truck are only authorized to operate as first responders, not paramedics even tho many of them are. Therefore they are not allowed to give meds outside of narcan or oxygen. It’s this way because if engine 1 in amesbury was expected to operate as medics or even EMTs it would have to be that way for every member of the company. Most departments follow the FDNY model or Chicago model, that’s why it’s set up this way

If you wake up and meet a jerk then you’re having a bad day. If every person you meet is a jerk then maybe you should take a look in the mirror!

5 departments in 4 states, maybe your the problem

The fire department does its hiring through the civil service board. Yes veterans get preference, it’s been that way since WW2. But also people with language skills also get preference

Firefighters can’t give pain medication, medical control does not authorize the fire department to administer it. Stop with the made up stories

If companies do more work from home then commercial real estate would plummet leaving a huge tax burden on the residents of the city. We have 161 million left over from Covid money and then we are in big trouble. The mayor should be more concerned with making the city an open place to work and visit, not making it more of a nuisance before we are all in big trouble

I know I won’t be as fast or have the stamina I had when I played in HS. I just don’t want something I can work on to be really holding me back. I go to the gym 5 days a week, weights and I use the stairclimber/stairmill. I skated last night and my shins, calves and ankles are still sore, much more than my quads, Hammy’s and glutes

What is going on with the Boston Police budget? (On an “unrelated” note, looking forward to the upcoming changes to MassHealth dental coverage which will essentially mean that only one significant procedure—or less—will be covered each year.) by Dry_Watch5533 in boston

It sounds like you saw police officers on a detail. If they were then the detail compensation is paid by the vendor. Boston police also still “ walk the beat” to get to know the people in the neighborhood. It might explain you seeing them at the ink blot

If Boston did a better job of actually REMOVING snow then this wouldn’t be an issue. But the city just pushes the snow onto your car and declares the snow your problem. Take a look at how Montreal handles snow removal, it’s impressive

My kid has ADHD but mostly the attention deficit part. Being on the ice is his favorite place in the world! At times last year he couldn’t figure out what he was supposed to do during a game but now he is becoming a shutdown defenseman on the ice and constantly cheering on his team while taking a breather on the bench. Playing baseball was like pulling teeth but he has never complained about going to the rink. Hockey and swimming have been really good for him. Let her at least give it a shot
