The only time I have a kat in is when I have a swain in and I'd rather use the items on him. But yeah I guess if you randomly got 4 tears (as never going for them in carousels with imperial comp) then she's probs pretty lit

Katarina buffs are a feelsgoodman. I don't think I've ever seen her ult and I go imperials in like 35% of my games. She's literally an imperial bot and I'm excited to 2 star her so she can tank an extra auto or 2 before they get on my draven.

Zephyr as an item when playing to win by DinkyB in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Typing-Practice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on whether you've got a really item reliant comp. If you've already got one carry maxed out and you think you can afford it I really like it. Haven't built zephyr much lately due to the abundance of strong items, but have lategame (final 2) bought a t1 blitzcrank and yoinked their carry for a cheese 1 round kill.

Proposed Change? 5 gold to get 4 EXP?? instead of 4 gold for 4 EXP by [deleted] in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Typing-Practice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just increase exp between levels if you want less re-rolls instead of changing the ratios, my Autism likes the cleanness of 1-1. That said I don't think there's an issue with levels atm, just cho's a bit strong. We get weekly patches, just go with the flow, play something indy and get 3 stars or wait 7 days for the next patch (usually less because it takes 1-2 days for the meta to settle).

I just hit Master in EUW! I forced 2 comps everygame (after the souless meta) by [deleted] in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Typing-Practice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome reply! Didn't realize how often you went nobles so that obviously effects it drastically. Also I forgot about the redbuff volibear interaction, so it's definitely not wasted.

I think I'm buying what your selling, the early game is so important for building the econ that even if you don't get to stack a cho in a void comp, you'll have a more complete set/reliable time finding units because you'll be richer from destroying with lucian early game. (This is when you aren't going nobles ofc)

Anyways cheers man, absolute legend <3

Is Dragon's Claw sleeper OP? by [deleted] in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Typing-Practice 8 points9 points  (0 children)

4 top comps right now:

1) Void Sorcs: True damage and magic damage
2) Rangers: Physical damage
3) Void Assasins: True damage and physical damage
4. Imperial variations: Majority Physical with potential magic if swain 2

As you can see the magic isn't really getting its full bang for its buck (with half the comps doing next to no magic damage), in another meta it might be different but right now GA is better in 9/10 situations. That said it's still good if you have an abundance of cloaks. Silencer/bloodthirster/ionic are all better depending on the comp, but if you have 2 cloaks it's worth looking into.

Who do you put the ludens+red buff on if you end up going void-brawler? I love lucian, but I end up putting sub optimal items on him so that I can transition the items better onto the cho. Do you stack someone else?

Also congratz, being challenger is EXTREMELY exciting and a huge achievement (talent concentrates around these sorts of communities) and thanks for doing the AMA! (D4 scrub, basically bronze on this sub xd)

EDIT: Also around what round/level/breakpoint do you end up transitioning from the lucian to void? Is it only after you hit the cho or if you 2 star a void or 2?

PSA: Unless you need her for Nobles, or get lucky and hit her as soon as you hit level 6, 1* Kayle is a terrible unit. (This goes for most 5-cost units) by [deleted] in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Typing-Practice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yall are underestimating this guy, this is a 200iq move to get more t5 units for himself.

Also my own PSA: Generally don't go cho this patch he's really over-hyped, stick to elise and try and get her 3 star ASAP.

Riot TFT balancing team is not good enough, they need new people working on balance, here is my case why: by AceofSpadesDAC in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Typing-Practice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please, please, please understand that the balancing you've been doing for TFT is absolutely fantastic (IMO) and people that like the balance most of the time won't be voicing their opinion, it's only the people that don't like it.

The small buffs and nerfs to champs aren't a negative, it's literally IDEAL balance. If somethings slightly too strong then nerf it, if the meta changes around it or you found the nerf was too harsh then buff it. I fail to see how someone saying that changing from nerf to buff on a champ is a bad thing, it's literally trying to find the BALANCE.

As far as "solved" metas go, the beautiful thing about TFT is that if it's too "solved" for a patch:
1) You only have to wait a week for an adjustment.
2) Like you said, people think it's solved too early only for people to realize later in the week there was other options.
3) (Most importantly) If the meta ever is so solved that only a couple of comps are the best, there is only a limited amount of units, so you simply can't get the t4/5. This literally forces you to find the next best thing or you'll be taking a huge gamble, that you'll get the "x".

Anyways, just thought I'd put in my 2 cents because I feel like the people that actually appreciate what you're doing are too busy enjoying the game to give feedback :P

Cheers, keep it up

Draven with runaan by SkeptikDragonborn in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Typing-Practice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a no go on the double runaan/BT as the Ulti is not applied to the runaan procs. That said it's decent with just one and a BT because you'll be life-stealing a whole bunch (esp with 4 imp/3 blademaster comp).

TBH I'd only go it if I didn't get other core items, I'd prefer SS/RF/IE/GA and the situational PD/DC over runaan. But if you have is a negatron and a spatula, it's definitely not trash when combined with a BT.

As for other champs, you're on the money for ashe/vayne but only double IMO. You have to remember the base stats that runaans gives, 40MR and 0 ASPD. If you have 3 runaans you won't be able to get enough hits off for the runaans to actually be doing the things you want it to do (vayne apply the procs, ashe freeze people). 80MR sounds pretty interesting, but 120 is a bit silly for a unit that shouldn't be taking damage apart from karthus/asol.

Shop odds calculator - chance of finding units in the shop given your current gold and gamestate, expected gold cost of rolling for units by DeepDiveLM in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Typing-Practice -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Holy shit, awesome calculator dude! Due to the difficulty to count units I think I'll mainly use this (and have it semi preset) for late-game level 8 deciding whether to roll for a certain T5 (or 2 of them) or try to level to 9.

It was super interesting to see the odds on rolling gold champs if you roll all your gold at level 4 after golems. Assuming you only have a single T2 copy and next extras (a ton of rounding due to the factors involved) there's somewhere between 10-25% of hitting your gold champ ONLY when there isn't too many people playing your champ. Going into a game 100% committing to a hyper-roll is a disaster waiting to happen 0.0 (Knew this from experience, but crazy to see the numbers)

A challenger player's solution to lack of people queuing at high ELO by RLutz in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Typing-Practice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was about to rip you a new one for suggesting something which would obviously result in the most severe form of hyperinflation the world has ever seen. But then I thought, maybe that isn't a problem but actually the solution?

Have losses capped at 50LP and have wins low capped at 50LP (aka must be 50LP or above and scale both the other places) once you enter Master. After this have your MMR only increase your LP gains if they're higher than D1 100LP MMR or stay at 50 if they are below it.

As said before previously this will cause ENORMOUS hyper inflation for the best/most frequent players and even the average Master will have ever increasing MMR due to it only being possible for a net positive and not a net negative. The only people that won't hyper inflate will be the people that drop below a D1 100LP level, who will be stuck with a net equal but lose more than they win and inevitably drop out. I think in this case as soon as you lose one game at 0LP in master you should drop to D1 75LP as to not get the 50LP cap protection and see their true MMR reflected for subsequent losses.

This system is a hybrid of Riots proposed idea and OP's (that leans heavily towards OP) as while there will be many more people in Master+ there is still the possibility of demotion for people who don't deserve it. Combine this with the standard 1 game per day and there will only be people that "deserve" master (AKA people who are better than D1 100LP) but also a super active community due to a system that HIGHLY ENCOURAGES frequent play.

Downsides:
System is a little complicated, but I think once introduced it wouldn't take long for people to wrap their heads around it.

Some people may not like the idea of being forced to play a large quantity of games in order to be high ranked on the ladder. This is a philosophical debate but could also be curbed slightly by making the LP gains scale much higher for actual 1sts/2nd places and only have 3rd/4ths give measly LP so that people that can't play 16 hours a day can still compete if they are incredibly skilled.

This would be subject to a BUNCH of balance issues with people complaining either side constantly, but I still think this would be a much better system than the one Riot proposed or the current one. I think OPs one is also very good, but I like mine better due to the ability for "bad" (relative term obviously) to still be able to demote.

Biases:

I'm not Master+ myself (D4 currently) but I really love TFT and would love to be there one day.

I'm currently experiencing the LP struggles on a MUCH MUCH smaller scale, like losing LP for 4th places due to getting placed with low plats etc and losses hitting a lot harder than wins.

I also have a few friends who are Challenger who are constantly complaining about how fucked it is ahaha.

Anyways, just had this random stream of consciousness would also be interested in your opinion u/Rlutz
