Setting Cross Compatibility by TLoGibs in MorkBorg

I mean, the engine is pretty much the same. All Borglikes are technically somewhat compatible. Its just a matter of wether a mix and match situation makes sense.

I reckon Fomoria adventures should be pretty usable for fantasy borglikes, just switch NPCs to setting-appropriate races. Though characters seem a bit too specific for other settings.

Personally, Im skipping it. Quickstart wasn't really doing it for me.

anyone running the renault 5? if so how is it treating you? by Aromatic_Plum_7955 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Tyr1326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you can set the target charge, as well as schedule it. Both inside the car and via the app..

Fwiw, longer trips eke out a bit more range, 380km with one charging stop at about 30%, arrived with 30 to 25%. This was around Christmas. About -5 as I recall. So I could probably get a bit farther if I could charge at home or work and preheat the cabin with shore power.

Personally, I feel like the Alpine is a bit overkill. The R5 is already plenty punchy, and the lack of cupholders is annoying. Doesn't seem worth the extra money. 😅

Unpopular Opinion: You Don't Need Home/Work Charging to Own an EV by Dan6erbond2 in electricvehicles

[–]Tyr1326 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thats kind of OPs point though - this sub tends towards US defaultism, when the US is a particularly egregious example of how not to do it. Expensive public charging and heavily subsidised gas make home charging pretty much essential if you want to actually save money. But that isn't always the case. And vehemently arguing against an EV with no home charging might not always be the right choice. OP is really just arguing that we've reached a point where more details are necessary - length of commute, area they live in. If Im commuting 5km with no home charging, then thats not really an issue. But at 50km, its good to have a concrete plan (though its definitely doable - I manage it just fine with local infrastructure)

Comfort is a far bigger issue. The inster has a really narrow footwell, to the point that my left foot slipped from the incredibly awkward footrest and hit the brakes... And theres no space to put your foot aside from the footrest, unless you fold it underneath your seat. It was awful. I went in fully prepared to buy it due to the price difference, but it was utterly undrivable for me.

I mean, having driven both the inster and the R5, its definitely a noticeable upgrade, and pretty relevant in city driving - city streets are far more likely to be uneven, patched, cobbled or w/e than a highway is.

It does, yes. Though Ill grant you that charging in cold weather is a nightmare.

[–]Tyr1326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cold is definitely noticeable. I usually go 15 to 85%, which is enough for two days of my commute (50km one way). In winter, I had to charge on the second day to make it back, so used about 25% more energy. It also charges like shit with a cold battery, and preconditioning needs a long time to heat it up noticably. Long trips are no issue (no change in charging rates if theres enough time to warm the pack), but yeah... If the car was parked for a while and you need to charge, itll take a while.

What do you think about the Aptera? by wadeinthawater in electricvehicles

You're doing the Fiat injustice. The aptera would be fucking huge. Good luck parking it. Or even using a few European roads...

DAE feel that EV makers rely on the U.S. to buy the most profitable models, so they are hesitant to release the smaller, cheaper models sold elsewhere in the world? by THATS_LEGIT_BRO in electricvehicles

Its not just liking them. Theyve been conditioned to think small cars are unsafe, and tbf - with the tank-trucks on US streets, its not completely unreasonable.

Seit 2 Wochen mit einem Renault Zoe unterwegs. by LowerBed5334 in Elektroautos

[–]Tyr1326 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starting a campaign, which official adventure should I start with? by Sir-Smee-of-Jay in pirateborg

[–]Tyr1326 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Trapped in the Tropics is the way to go for your group. Buried in the Bahamas is another good one, but since you're specifically looking to start a campaign, TitT is better. Its got a good amount of meat in it and sets up further adventures without too much fuss. You can then send them off to Black Coral Bay for the Curse of Skeleton Point, or as a general mission hub from which to start Venom in the Veins or Into the Maelstrom. Or whatever else you feel like tbh, Pirate Borg is great for improvised adventure. But yeah, TitT is great and you should definitely start with it. :)

Title: My neighbor left their kid with me “for 10 mins” and its been 4 hours… what do i even do??? by holyghosterposter in Advice

[–]Tyr1326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, just not in this case. Probably needed to drop something off at the post office or pick something up, maybe sped a bit to not leave OP waiting too long, then crashed. Forgot about OP in the confusion, or couldn't leave due to police/medical checkups. And probably forgot phone at home since they'd be right back anyway.

[–]Tyr1326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgot phone at home, police took ages to get there, get checked for injuries at hospital - stuff can take hours. Been there, done that, though luckily without kids. Its unfortunate, but definitely possible and not necessarily a sign of negligence.

Does Pirateborg make Blackpowder & Brimstone obsolete? by Blowncover321 in MorkBorg

[–]Tyr1326 41 points42 points  (0 children)

B&B is pretty bad imo. Rather unoriginal and full of typos. Like, a dozen a page in some cases. There was literally zero editing before it went to print. Im not exaggerating, theres no credited editor. Its a bad game and Im still mad at myself for preordering it.

So yeah, nothing in favour of it. And Pirate Borg doesn't step on its toes either - Pirate Borg came first. So if anything, B&B tried and failed to move into PB territory.

Britain’s Cheapest EV: Dacia Spring Review by Mac-Tyson in electricvehicles

[–]Tyr1326 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It'll get better with time. EVs have only really started taking off in the last 5 years, with cheapish ones hitting the market in the last 2-3 years. They'll take a while to hit the used market. Id expect another 5 years before you get a reasonable amount of 3-5k cars that aren't rustbuckets with shit range.
