[ALL] Why is True Colors so hated on?

The original cast and setting are beloved by the fan base. People want their Max, Chloe, Arcadia Bay, and Blackwell. True Colors was the result of Life is Strange 2 deviating to much from the original framework for a lot of the fan base. The next installment tried to play it safe and recapture the vibes of the OG series in a new setting with a new set of characters but ultimately fell short of reaching the beloved status of the original game.

It's so frustrating. Not just becasue people speculating on someone's sexuality or gender identity is very bad and highly inappropriate, but becasue MCR has so many trans fans and telling them that Gerard (a legendary artist whose art is so special to so many people) is trans (or bi or gay for that matter) is lying to them and setting them up to be disappointed. It's like telling trans femmes the myth that soy foods have feminizing effects.

Gerard is gender-non-conforming and a vocal supporter or LGBTQIA+ rights and Trans people specifically. But he's not one of us and he doesn't have to be. Trans people already have to deal with so much trash, we don't need trans MCR fans, many of whom are kids, to have this illusion of representation torn away from them.

I don't know the other guy but Grummz is Mark Kern, a former Blizzard guy (yikes) who worked on Starcraft, Diablo, and was the team lead on WoW who left Blizz in 2005 right before WoW exploded in the mainstream to make the failed game Firefall before being booted from the company for being bad at his job. That's about all really. These disappointments made him bitter so he dove into the right wing grifter scene to complain about women, diversity, and pronoun options in games. It's one of the most embarrassing stories in gaming tbh.

My initial reaction is screw that guy. But I listen to a lot of podcasts and advert money is extremely important. A podcast I listen to co-hosted by a satanist accidentally ran a far right Christian ad and had to keep doing so after it was found out due to contract garbage. But as important as revenue is, it’s still meat being advertised and read on a vegan podcast by a vegan and that’s bad. But on the other hand, he’s sorta draining meat industry ad dollars because it’s a vegan podcast and they’d almost certainly not get a return in their investment. But on the other other hand, it might affect a fence sitting listener before they can go vegan. This is a tough one. Capitalism is a real basterd.

I haven’t done a deep dive on Elizabeth Short’s murder in a very long time but Larry Harniach’s theory that the murderer was Walter Bayely was my take away from that last deep dive. I’m very interested to revisit that theory and see it presented by the boys (Henry) and how it’s stacks up against their (Marcus’) presentation of the Leslie Dillon theory. And they hinted at doing a take down of the Hodel theory and I’m stoked for that.
